I went in search of the Full Irish Breakfast while I was in Kinsale. I had a couple of hours to kill & Kinsale is supposed to be a tourist hotspot.
First of all problem number one is everywhere is parking 🅿️ Pay & Display which I expected from this money grabbing anti car world we are being pushed towards, however the machines are old fashioned and require coins.
So the first thing I had to do was buy an unwanted coffee and ask for all coins in change please. So I was able to buy my few hours parking.
Then the search began. I wanted an inviting pub or even a hotel with an inviting “A” board outside showing they were doing a “Full Irish” I wandered here there and everywhere & all I could find were cake shop type cafeterias where you could buy yet another coffee. This place attracts Americans by the bus load 🤔 What attracts them is beyond me, the marina is dirty & full of rubbish even though there are plenty of litter bins.
The marina is a Poundland version of Puerto Banus & that is overstated, it’s more like the 2p version.
The tourists just seem to walk aimlessly about looking for what? I don’t know, this is no Killarney which is where you should be heading to if you want a bit of the traditional Irish.
It’s 20 years or more since I was last in Kinsale, it will be another 20 before I give it another chance.
