Having a world class airport in the Philippines is now possible thanks to Mactan-Cebu International Airport! ___ Mactan Airport Defeats The World’s Best Airport In International Architecture Awards. The Mactan-Cebu International Airport’s new Terminal 2 wins another international award, this time besting Singapore’s Jewel Changi The Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 has been a source of pride for the Filipinos ever since it was inaugurated in June 2018. It has since received global praise and attention, thanks to its ingenious and sleek design that showcases the strength and beauty of local talent and materials. Last February, MCIA again claimed fame when it defeated Singapore’s Jewel Changi, touted as the “best airport in the world,” at the World Architecture Festival 2019. MCIA Terminal 2 won the “Completed Buildings-Transport” category, besting Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport; Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Station, among others. According to the notes by the award-giving body, they chose to give the victory to Mactan Airport because it was a “simple and elegant new airport that uses many locally sourced materials. It is integrated into the local area through the development of a local hub and a landscape plan. The internal spaces are light and uncluttered... It is clearly popular with the local community and this established a memorable travels experiences.” In a report by ABS-CBN News, Winston Shu, principal architect of the International Design Associates (IDA), said that unlike the Jewel that required a $1.25-billion price tag, the judges commended Mactan Airport for its “economy in manufacturing,” which means it can be achieved with fewer resources compared to others. They also called the airport “very confident, yet very modest.” Source: metro.style/travel/highlights/mactan-airport-defeats-the-world-s-best-airport-in/24111 www.cnnphilippines.com/lifestyle/2019/12/6/Mactan-Cebu-International-Airport-World-Architecture-Festival.html?fbclid=IwAR0TwIOMdWMiPm4Qtz9ZibuMnwVzauPS-f25V70cBZwjRAbBzFX0WBaTuVU ___ No talk, just walk. I HAVE MIXED EMOTIONS WHEN I SEE MACTAN AIRPORT. MY FATHER WAS THE CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN WHEN THE AIRPORT WAS BUILT FROM SCRATCH MANY MANY YEARS AGO. I WAS IN THE US NAVY WHEN I USED TO VISIT MY FATHER AT WORK AND MY MOTHER'S EATERY INSIDE THE AIRPORT. MY SISTER, MY TWO BROTHERS WORKED THERE UNTIL THEY RETIRED. ALL OF THEM ARE IN HEAVEN NOW. THIS PLACE BRINGS BACK A LOT OF GOOD AND SAD MEMORIES. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT I GET TO VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN BEFORE JOINING MY FAMILY WITH GOD. BOB OF SAN DIEGO, CA.
The airport showcases the brilliant minds and uniqueness of our very own architects! It’s a pride being a Filipino seeing the expertise of our kababayan applied in our own country! Congratulations Philippines having won recognitions and international awards. How about appreciating na lang and be contributory with nice words, and positive comments, encouraging us all to maintain its cleanliness, etc. We keep praying for our nation, the leadership, people and economy for a better Philippines…. Thank you for sharing this video. God bless po
Ganda talaga ng airport ng Cebu-International... Great virtual tour. Hope to see more of the gates area especially the boarding procedure to the plane.
Jan aq sa Mactan Cebu bumaba kc nung umuwi aq ng pinas,,divert jan aking flight kc hnd na kaya ng manila i accommodate ang mga ofw at the same time fully booked ang mga hotels sa manila .grave sobrang effecient ng mga airport personnel jan..goodjob guys..wla aqng masasav sobrang linis at organized..may mag guide talaga zau specially sa mga need requirements na dpt i-sign..may pa free meal pa nga kmi..job well done 👏👏
It doesn't have the bigger capacity as some other airport have, like Changi and Incheon but the designed was unique..simple but very elegant, look very spacious due to a very high ark ceiling that made of special kind of wood.i say ,brilliant architecture and one of the kind...thanks
@@shgdjxhxb5906Similar design only, but quite barren on the inside. Cebu T2 is very elegant. And take note, Cebu has T1, which makes the airport bigger than Clark's.
@@shgdjxhxb5906 Clark is not elegant in contrast to MCIA T2. Clark Airport is not even busy, and was only built as per former President Duterte as backup airport of NAIA. Frankly, Davao city deserves an airport building as big as Clark in terms of Passenger Arrivals and departures. Davao airport is busier than Clark. Morever, Caticlan airport has more passengers than Clark.
Before the pandemic lockdown, both the arrival and departure areas of this MCIA Terminal 2 looks fabulous of the international brands of shops and boutiques. And also, the T2 was also exclusive only to international flights. Somehow, the Terminal 1 of the MCIA is equally neat, modern, aesthetic and efficient.
God bless us I like it very beautiful and relaxing place. Very nice to travel around the world together my family, friends and relatives. In God all things are possible po. Thanks From Lani D. Nepomuceno, Philippines
At least it has a smoking room. Hopefully it remains unlike other airports. Nice airport, it really needs an outdoor area beyond immigration, the Asian kitchen looks good. Thanks for sharing.
its a great looking airport. i hope they extend the design towards the domestic airport so it will be huge and one big structure. Currently domestic airport building is old and design is dated. Although they spruced up the domestic airport’s interior.
There is a vlog that I saw on YT from a Kapampangan. He deliberately compare Clark airport from Mactan. Cebu I think has bigger terminal than Clark dahil existing pa yong old terminal ng Mactan. Mactan also has larger runways than Clark and Mactan has 2 runways now.
Also Cebu has better location, located at the center of the Philippines ( between Luzon and Mindanao) and is near to most of the top tourist destination like Bohol, Boracay, Palawan, Camiguin and Siargao.
The design of Clark International Airport is almost the same with MCIA. For me, CIA is just second to MCIA. Of course Capangpangan will surely argue with me. Hehehe
Very nice! Hope somebody will respond to my question. My arrival time is very late like 11:30pm, but I have a flight early morning going to bacolod..is it ok to stay (over night) or a couple of hours at the airport? Thanks
Hi, What is the Premium bus? are the T1 and T2 walking distance (inside the airport)? thank you. Never been to MCIA before, we are arriving in Sept. at Cebu Mactan airport. Thank you.
I recomend you go on a wednesday to sunday because you will see how they feed their giraffes and tigers. Feeding times: reticulated giraffe viewing deck:3:00pm. tiger turf:10:30am or 2:30pm.
Few of the comments comparing Clark and Cebu airport. Clark needs to eat more rice first and say that when they can overcome the international all awards of MCIA.😂 just saying. Reality speaks period.
Of course bec both airports have the same builder only that Cebu airport came first with the introduction of glulam technology and bec it was built beautifully, the govt awarded the builder to do Clark’s T2 as well thus both have more or less the same architectural concept.
Of course, it started in Pnoy admin when the bidding for the PPP started in 2011. But Pnoy's DOTr Secretary (he's forgettable) didn't do his job earnestly to make the project smooth for MCIA and the Cebuanos in particular as the awarding of the bids was delayed by almost 2 years due to bureaucracy and incompetence. It was only in November 2014 when the management of the airport was turned over to GMCAC, the operator of MCIA. GMCAC stands for GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. MCIAA is not under CAAP as it has its own charter and it has a Cabinet level status much like DOTr or DPWH.
@@iamrenzramientos Stop being a Duterte lapdog. Dutete has nothing to do with it. Duterte is one of the worst presidents we could ever have. Look at Davao City that his family has ruled for over 30 years, it remains poor compared to both Cebu City and Mandaue City which are many times smaller interns of area and population.
@@iamrenzramientos for your info i come from Cebu City and Mactan Cebu International Airport is PNOY'S Legacy which was finished in 2018 and inaugurated by the ILONG DUTERTE.
I've been to Singapore's Changi Airport for many times now and I'm baffled on how this airport overthrown it as being the best airport in Asia. This is just my opinion but I think you would agree too if you see singapore's airport at first hand.
The world's Best International Airport, Mactan Cebu International Airport a credit to our late Benigno Ninoy Aquino (PNOY) as one of his projects finished and inaugurated by Duterte.. Thank you PNOY for this you will be forever remembered and proud of you 😘🙏🙏💖
I'm hoping those pop-up restos are only temporary in the entrance area. The airport management are better off turning that area restrictly decorative real plants and seating for awaiting passengers and families. No need to make the area into a big mess of a carenderia....
@@thanadon5699 That's the norm of all government officials, especially those who are in national-level positions, whether you accept it or not. Well, I have never cheated in my life, so yes, I can point fingers at those who are cheats and thieves. Tugade has been coming back and forth to Cebu to sell Duterte's BUILD BUILD BUILD projects but look, six years have passed and Duterte is going to leave Malacanang but they have not accomplished any single project in Cebu that they promised to build. Tugade is the biggest liar of all time among all past DOTr secretaries.
Mactan-Cebu Int'l Airpirt (CEB) sure is the best airport in the Philippines. NAIA (MNL), on the other hand is definitely the worst in the country in my opinion. The location of the airport is fine by me because it's in the island of Mactan in the city limits of Lapu-Lapu City. This is one of some airports placed on a natural island outside a core city. One problem is that it has one runway, but I don't think it's possible to build a 2nd parallel or perpendicular runway because there are buildings in Lapu-Lapu City occupying around the airport.
During the first year of operation, ang ganda ng MCIA, at nagka award pa nga.
Di nyo man lang sinubukang magtanong hahaha
Iba talaga pag may political win.
Very very nice architecture, however with all due respect, Singapore's Changi, Seoul's Incheon or even Hongkong's Chep Lap Kok airports are in a league of their own. There is some similarity with Madrid's Barajas Airport though. Just be careful about your title as the best in Asia. Just my observation.
If you read my description, the "best" that I am pertaining was due to the award won by this airport. Didn't they win because it was the best in that category? Correct me if I'm wrong.
@@edgardocruz830 I’m not talking about the aesthetic. I’m not questioning about the award either. I’m on about the title as ‘the best’ in Asia. It’s kind of misleading. Sure it’s beautiful no doubt about it.
