Join me on a Christmas 2024 walking tour in Yerevan, the capital and largest city of Armenia. In this video, I will show you some of the most beautiful and festive places in the city, such as:
Luxe Gifts & Home Decor is a shop that offers a variety of unique and stylish Christmas decorations.
Republic Square is the central hub of the city, where you can admire the stunning Christmas lights and decorations.
Yerevan Christmas Market is a place where you can enjoy the festive atmosphere, buy souvenirs, and taste local delicacies.
Along the way, I will share with you some interesting facts and stories about Yerevan and its culture, history, and traditions. You will also get to see how the locals celebrate Christmas and what makes this holiday special in Armenia.
In Armenia, Christmas is also known as the Feast of the Epiphany, which means the manifestation of God’s glory.
Christmas is a very important and joyful holiday in Armenia, as it is the world’s oldest Christian nation. It is also a time to appreciate the rich culture and history of this ancient land.
The local dance ceremony in the church is probably the Kochari, a traditional group dance that is widely performed throughout Armenia during holidays, festive celebrations, family ceremonies, and other social events. It is open to all participants, regardless of age, gender, or social status, and it contributes to the continuity of historical, cultural, and ethnic memory. Kochari is also recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Kochari is one of the oldest and most popular dances in Armenia, dating back to ancient times.
Kochari is performed in a circle or a spiral, with the dancers holding each other’s hands or shoulders. The dance movements mimic the movements of animals, such as sheep, eagles, bears, and snakes.
Kochari expresses the unity, strength, and resilience of the Armenian people, especially in times of hardship and struggle. It also symbolizes joy, friendship, and celebration of life.
