Great size trailer for what you are doing. +1 on the suggestion to vacuum pack food storage. We did that on both our boats and it doubled, maybe tripled storage. Do it for your long term clothing storage as well. When you go into colder climates look out for condensation. Keeping the interior dry is critical! Also +1 on a generator. There are a number of quiet ones out there.

I have a vacuum sealer, love it to freeze my fish! I could fit 10x as much fish in my freezer. and It lasts for months.

I want to thank you for being so open to your fans and sharing this life. You are living the dream for many, but you are so nice to your fans. Wanting to do kayak meet ups, fan fishing, and more people interactions make you very approachable. You are one of my favorite fishing you tubers for that reason. You show us how we can make kayaking fishing fit our needs, kayak safety, and how to start kayak fishing. Keep it up. I have been following before field trips, I cannot wait to see these new adventures. Fish on my friend!

Your idea to mount the paper towel dispenser where you did was uber-practical...I’m gonna do that.

FYI, content coming out from your channel does not seem slow like you say, and I like seeing people adventures as much as I like seeing the fishing. This new chapter got me even more excited for your channel. I'm liking your channel more and more for the same reasons I am liking zoffingers channel more and more.

Hi Robert, I just watched your video, very nice! We were also looking at the Grey Wolf 22RR for it's awesome floor plan. I'm 64 and my Wife, (Doreen), & I have been RVers for 30 years. We just sold our DIY renovated 2014 18 foot Wolf Pup 17 RP Toy hauler, (our 7th RV), which we bought for $5K & sold for $13.5K! We took that & bought a 2015 Grey Wolf 26RR for $9.75K & we love it! We tried to find a used Grey Wolf 22RR for $15K or less but no luck, most were $18K up. Our 26RR is also a toy hauler & is 30 feet from rear to the tongue, 28 foot box. We are going to renovate this trailer also but not near as much as the Wolf Pup as that trailer needed a complete gut & new floor/cabinets due to water damage. So, you've probably already heard these words from the wise, (& experienced), But here is what we are doing to our new/used 26RR: I. removed the 14" tires & wheels & sold them for $220 & bought five 15" X 6" & five ST225/75R 15 E Rated 10 PLY. 2. Most Important! While the trailer was up on jack stands, I removed all 4 wheel hubs, inspected the electric brakes & then removed the cheap as they come china made wheel bearings & seals which on our trailer after towing it from the dealer in Poplar Bluff, MO, 2500 miles, where near destroyed! Fortunately, the axle spindles had no damage. I'm not positive but I think your dual axles are the same as ours at 3500LBS, 5 lug, 4.5 pattern. I recommend Timken Bearings made in the USA. Our size is 1.375, (L68149 Bearing, L68111 Race) & 1.0625, (L44649 Bearing, L44610 Race) & Trailer Hub Wheel Grease Seal 10-19 171255TB 1.719'' X 2.565'' X 4 of each part listed. Please don't wait until the old bearings go as you might be on I70 out of Denver at 8000' elevation doing 65 with no place to pull over! Enjoy your Trailer and Life have Fun and Be Safe! Chris & Doreen Dutcher.

Only thing I can recommend as someone who also lives in a trailer full time due to work is upgrade the mattress that came with it. We bought one of the beds that come in the sealed bag and it made a world of difference for me and my wife. Love the videos keep them goin!

a couple things I learned from living in a camper for a year. get a small electric space heater, if you are in cold places and have to use the built in heater, you'll burn through propane like crazy. If they aren't already, switch out all the light bulbs over to LED, it will extend your ability to use your lighting away from shore power by a ton. If you are gonna have that shotgun with you all the time while traveling, check the laws when going state to state, that's not something you want to have in a place like Illinois without the proper papers and junk. If your radio stops working (it seems like they all do at some point) it should be a 12 volt system, so you can replace the head unit with any head unit made for cars, you don't have to buy the crazy expensive RV ones. get a ladder rack for your truck and top the kayaks up there while on the road. hopefully at least one of these things will be helpful to you along the way.

Get yourself a camper shell for your truck and store your kayaks on top of it. They make some that are reinforced with a built in rack. It will also give you more storage for your fishing gear. I would keep as much of my fishing gear in my truck that way I wouldn't have to move it from the camper to the truck every time I went out.
@pauljackman5574
@pauljackman5574 6 лет назад
Scrumptrelecent, I was thinking the same thing. Build out a storage system in the bed of the truck with a rod holder on top. Then a bed cover with roof rack for the kayaks. Rob, great Aggie shoutouts in the walkthrough. Gig’em!

Great video Robert. So two things to consider, 1 and most importantly you need to get a spare complete hub kit for your trailer if you don’t have one along with a grease gun to add grease from time to time. 2nd is putting your rods on the ceiling. I did this in my work van and it has been great. It’s out of pvc and ties to the handles above the windows. I have 4 bait casters, 1 fly rod and 3 spinning reels hanging and it works great. Put insulation around the pvc to keep them from rattling and moving. Just depends on whether you want to look at them when you go to sleep😂 Keep them coming and good luck fishing
@YakFishField
@YakFishField 6 лет назад
Thanks for the advice Trey! I’m thinking rooftop rod storage is definitely the way to go.
@edt3836
@edt3836 6 лет назад
For extra storage (like your rods) you can get a ladder rack for the bed of your truck (or camper shell) and buy PVC pipe and you can make locking storage tubes for your fishing rods!

Nice setup. As time goes by, you'll get into your groove and figure things out. I bet within a year you've ditched a quarter of your stuff. For our setup, we added a topper to our truck so we would have more storage. One suggestion I have is to get a few tools (small socket set, allen wrenches, pliers, etc.) and a multimeter. Learn some basic electrical troubleshooting. When it comes to RV's, you will have problems, many of which are surprisingly simple, just frustrating to deal with. The more you can do on your own, the less hassle it will be on the road. Enjoy and safe travels.
@stoner516r
@stoner516r 6 лет назад
I use 6 in pvc, painted it black and mounted it to the bottom of the trailer. This is where I store my rods. I remove the reels and just put the rods down there. Need to make sure you have enough clearance. Also camper top or ladder rack to store the kayaks up top. We use a ladder rack. $200 from lowes. Looks like you've got most of it worked out. I have seen people mount rod holders on the rear bumper and then just put the rods there with some bungee to tie it down. Camp chef has a great modular grill system. You probably already have a connection for gas about midway on the bottom of the trailer. Cordless impact for the jacks with a socket that fits. I also use this for the trailer tires if you should have a flat which we had once at 10pm in the middle of nowhere. Wife and I are looking at doing this later as retirement approaches. Never thought of the toy hauler. I'm interested to see how this works out.

Nice interior setup, and the rear ramp, porch, etc. is a cool feature. To save space storing food, I would buy a vacuum sealer (we use a Foodsaver brand), and eliminate the boxes the dry stuff (pastas, cereals, etc) comes in. Cut out the cooking directions, and then vacuum seal it in the bag with single-serve portions. Label and date the vacuum bags with a Sharpie. The boxes/packaging takes up too much room. You can also vacuum seal meat/fish, and they'll last frozen much longer. Looking forward to the new videos, and here in Ky we have the Green River at Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park (nice campground w/free shower at the store), and there's also Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, and LBL (Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky.

Get a third extra 30# propane tank. Also buy an electric space heater so if you run out of propane you won't freeze. Go up on the roof and check the seams for any cracks. Even new trailers get cracks in the caulk. If you find any seal them with Dicor self leveling sealant. If you are going "boon docking" You can get a generator for around 350$ or have a sponsor give you one. You can use an electric plate also to save on propane. If you can get a sponsor to get you a heated water hose for the winter. Just some suggestions from a full time RV'er.

Yes... second vote on the dog as it is required RV equipment. Also...put rubber foam like doilies on the bottom of each pot and pan lest the vibration of the road wear out the non-stick coating

Robert, you mentioned you would be traveling to all lower 48 states. Should you make it to Rhode Island, there is a phenomenon that takes place every spring in the salt ponds along the coastline. Striped bass come into the salt ponds through the inlets and feed on the cinder worm hatch. It all starts when the water and sand/mud hits a certain temperature. It can start as early as mid-afternoon and usually goes into the night. Many kayak fisherman work the hatch with fly rods and spinning rods rigged with clear plastic bobbers and fly set ups. The action can be intense, rewarding and frustrating as millions of cinder warms hatch, mate and get devoured by bass. You can see striped bass pushing water and rolling on the worms at the surface. It is addicting. The hatch usually begins by early May (sometimes sooner) and can last into mid-June. There are numerous public access points for kayakers. If your travels bring you to Rhode Island, you would do well to get here around the time of the hatch to experience something special.

If you happen to pass through South West Virginia we have the New River (great for Smallmouth and 2nd oldest river in the world) and lots of lakes, ponds, etc..., Also plenty of campgrounds and State Parks (many on or near lakes) that are good for RVs and Tents, fairly cheap too (about $25 a night at most). I'm relatively new to Kayak fishing and enjoy your channel. Like the idea of fishing all around the country, going to be very entertaining.

Hey Rob. If you really want to see how to make the most of the space you have at hand, you want to begin watching some of the sailing videos on RU-vid. Think about roof access and storage up top to store your long rods, paddles etc.. You may have room between the vents. Just need some sort of dry storage to mount up there to pack the rods in.

Congratulations Robert love that we talked about this at ICAST and here ya are. So food for thought why not rack your yaks on top of your truck? Then your not having to compromise the inside area with constant rearranging.

Hello Robert, I'm a little late to you channel. What caught my eye is I have the same rig except mine is the 2016 version. I'm not full time but have took several long trips in it, most of the time I'm hauling a C50T Suzuki Boulevard cruiser. Do yourself a favor and keep an eye on the roof / fiberglass cap transition. Mine roof came unglued and ballooned when traveling and leaked. It was not covered under warranty as they said it is a owner service and to check it every 6 months. Happy travels and adventures

Yeah man, I’ve been warned about the roofs and they won’t even let you buy extra insurance on them. They know they leak. I get up there every month or two to look for cracks or issues. Thanks for the warning brother.

Wow 😳 not the roof. Sometimes I wish mine had a fiberglass ROOF ✔ but My wife & I did a little preventive maintenance by using eternabuan tape for the sides of roof, but overall we 💘 Living the Toyhauler Lifestyle FULLTIME

We are new to this but we love it. I have been looking for a rig like yours for several months and I had given up until I saw yours. It’s exactly what we need. We have one smaller but yours is perfect for us. We use an inflatable kayak that has the rod holders and everything and is great to take to the water and feels very safe. Love our toy hauler, but yours is better. I hope that yours was better finished than ours. Where do you store your generator? We were using a small portable but we had to turn the refrigerator off to make coffee… and no AC! I just ordered a 3500 watts and weights over 100lbs. Too much for us to lift to the truck so we plan to roll it in with the motorcycle. We will start looking now for a Grey Wolf 22RR, anything we should be aware? Good luck and thank you.

I didn’t have a generator so I’m not sure a good place to keep it. I’ve since sold this unit but I was really pleased with it. Few issues except the AC had a known issue, but they replaced it free via warranty. Smooth process but ask about it before you buy, maybe they can replace it ahead of time if needed. Good luck!

As far as rod and reel storage, I would find a way to hang them on the ceiling or attach a pvc tube under your trailer to store the rods w/ some type of locking system and remove the reels and just keep them in the trailer, or just store them in the kayaks. For electric power when your not staying at someone’s house or a RV Park. Buy a generator. If you want something quiet I think Honda is the quietest. You should be able to run everything including A/C off the generator. Also I would look into either upgrading your propane tanks for 7.5gal to 10gal or figure out a way to put one 30gal tank on the front. You’d be surprised how much propane you run through especially running your fridge off of it.

I turned this VERY informative video into a drinking game within the first 2 minutes of hearing Robert say "kinda" when describing the RV- He says it about every 20 seconds, and once you start hearing it, you can't NOT hear it. 🤗I was shitfaced drunk by the end of this video, and, I want to buy this toy hauler! I will, for sure, be sharing this video with my RC (remote controll) racing buddies (many of whom have RVs) and like to drink after a long, hard day of racing. 👍I'll make ya famous!
