Of all the conveniences of owning a campervan, I'd make use of the restroom the most. I'd rather have a Winnebago, but it looks like I'll have to go with an upfitter for a 17' w/restroom.
No bathroom makes me sad. It's a deal breaker...I mean if Thor can add a bathroom to their Scope...certainly for $20,000 more, Winnebago could add one! {{sigh}}
Nice package. The only thing missing is the ability to shower inside the van. Thor has done it on a 136" wheelbase Promaster. When I can get WBG quality in a 136" Promaster with toilet/shower services inside the coach, I'm there.
I’m thinking this model prioritized cargo storage under the bed instead of bathroom. Those other short models don’t have interior storage for bikes or bins of outdoor gear. Hopefully more floor planes on this short model follow though.
@@ChopperChad Agreed. That's what I like about the coach companies making many floorplans. Everyone has a different need. I really like the Thor floorplan but I much prefer WBG quality standards.
Must be rough to work so hard on a product and get so much negative feedback. Here’s what I like: short wheel-base van, 4 season insulation and truma heater, inside utilities, rear Murphy bed with garage, flexible dinette options, swivel chairs, lots of electric, isolated propane, screens, privacy curtain, layout. Agree that it needs hot water and a better approach to cooling-second alternator, maybe? More solar, lithium batteries, separator toilet, interior shower. That said, I’ve seen one-off custom self builds for significantly less. Winnebago, scaling up and benefiting from others designs, could do better.
A great van for carrying gear, basic camping, refresh & relax between destinations, with napping, snacks, wash-up at the sink, plus a porta-potty when nothing else is available. About $63k after 35% discount.
@@kandicenagel5257 yes, I forgot! We got the Thor Scope 18T but it has no bathroom. We decided that 3 min showers probably wouldn't be the best and we'll just use campgrounds showers
I had to laugh when he made up the fold down bed in the back, lay down and could not wait to get out of it! I am 5'11", too and after seeing the clearance for his feet and his head at the same time, I thought , "of, hell no!" The window shades are very clever, but the absence of either a shower or toilet nix for me at 100K.
I'd gladly trade the dinette for a decent bed that can accommodate 6'1"! If I was building RV's I would NEVER utilize cross-wise beds...taller customers are immediately excluded from the market.
For $20k to $30k less you can buy a Thor Rize or Scope with or without bathroom. Plus they also have a microwave, generator and much better control systems.
Bought a Solis Pocket today and actually considered the Thor 18T and 18M that you mentioned. But we have a 4 year old and the 2 Thor models only offered 2 rear lap belts and sideways seating for our daughter whereas the Pocket offered a 3 point harness with booster seat tether and was forward facing. This was literally our deciding factor.
Fits what I'm looking for EXCEPT the propane. Would much rather have the Volta and get rid of propane altogether. :( The no bath is perfect. I hate that wasted space in a van...people think it's so important but it's always too small and takes up so much room! Like I said, it needs Volta and a chassis lift. I'd rather have the road clearance and AWD or 4x4. But at least Winnebago is starting to understand the popularity of the STO and is getting onboard.
We just bought one today after talking through our needs and wants. We ended up going with a camplux water heater that hangs in the back door and uses the water outlet and the propane to give us but water. Found it on Amazon for about $150. With the rear annex and the camplux we can now have hot showers as well and lose no space. Love the Solis Pocket.
There is a company in Tucker Ga. that makes a ramp that comes down in the back and power chairs can ride up into van. Their bed is the sofa behind the front seats and they have a adjustable shower head if you have to shower in a chair or sit. Plus the toilet. They also cut out side of van out. Make a new wall giving you another 8 inches give or take. Pretty cool.
Looks good, but I do have a couple of questions. Does it have a spare tire and jack? Does it have a navigation system? What are the dimensions of the rear bed? Thanks for your answers...
Thank you for your video! Is it FWD? Will there be a version with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and blind spot monitor? I can't see buying anything anymore without ACC.
Yes, the unit is FWD (front wheel drive). But with this being a smaller chassis, adapative cruise control and blind spot monitoring are not part of the product. However there is crosswinds assist.
Hey I watched this video and found it helpful. We recently purchased a Solis, but it had been in an accident and we are in the process of getting it repaired. The driver side in the rear of the van was damaged. The body is coming together, but we may need some interior parts such as cabinetry or other things. Does anyone have information on where we could get these parts?
Having an AC without a generator is a no go. This isn't the kind of rig that most people are going to be taking into a full hookup campground. I love the dinette/couch/etc and the propane tank. If you make this in a 159 promaster and add a cassette toilet and shower, I'm trading in my current van for it.
You might want to consider other family members of the Winnebago Solis product line. The 59PX with or without a pop-top seems to meet your needs and La Mesa RV has many of these available for purchase today. Check our inventory: www.lamesarv.com/search/keywordsearch?keyword=59px&page=2
@@lamesarecvan I actually bought my current van for La Mesa two months ago. The 59px is close to what I want, but it needs the dinette from this van for sure.
Where's the toilet? Out in the bushes I guess. ...and shower at the local motel 6...Sorry I didn't watch the whole thing: Does it have Solar?.. ELON has to install the self driving feature for that PRICE.
All season insulation??? What do you do with the cushion to be able to use that countertop on the passenger side rear?? What if the bead is not comfortable for a 76 year old lady ? Is there room for thicker cushions? Thanks for demoing the various couch versions! ... Fridge- 12 volt - does the van have to be level for it to run? What is a Truma heater? Murphy - yikes - that is a lot of bed parts to put together to make the bed size mattress. What is the distance from the bed to the ceiling? I need to be able to sit up. ... Air conditioner - is it 12 volt? If water fill is inside, how do you do it at a campground with water hose hookup? For the temperature/insulation test, was it down to 5 degrees F or C? 3500 pound trailer hitch?? Will that pull a car? Are swivel seats in all of them? ... Curtain between cab and living area? Heater??? Didn't hear about ? With high altitude? How does in snow? Tires? Any different cushion cover fabrics?
I’ve always loved Winnebagos. We had a Minnie Winnie when I was a kid, but my issue with this unit is this. My wife was born with CP so she has trouble with her hips. It would be virtually impossible for her to get into the bed. However I do want to say that she likes this unit. What can be done for her with this unit? Btw, we live in Md. Is it possible to get a towing package for more than 3500 lbs? Loved the video. I plan on showing this to my wife.
12-month/15,000-mile basic warranty for $99,566 lol you almost had me if I had to guess with a warranty that low the transmissions can't handle the weight.
I was sold up until the steering wheel phone situation, it weirds me out. I need cruise control at my fingertips, not a phone. I currently have a 2010 Honda Fit with shift paddles at my fingertips and cruise options at my thumbs. I downshift, accelerate and glide all at the wheel, rarely using my foot. It's a pleasure to drive. I don't want these pansy-ass music and phone buttons. "Safety"
Well it may smell bad at times, but imagine the convenience when having dinner w/friends & family when you can just slide over to do your business! I guess I'm just old fashion, but I prefer walls.
You present well, but we really don’t believe that second “bed” is comfortable. You could not even strengthen out your legs. The main bed will do, but this is not for full time. My back would pay the price on the main bed. I do like everything has its place. I’d love it to drive as a everyday car. Then I’d have the potty if needed. Could go fishing and use van to have lunch or cool off, get out of the rain. Be good to go to the beach in. The cost of the van is to high. The drawers look like they are about to fall apart. I’d pay 60k for it max.
Great idea… but still missing the ball.. It’s shorter. So you’re designed this to sleep 2 people comfortably. You guys need to get rid of that daybed-eating area mess.. does not make any sense. We can cuddle in bed. Instead add a 2 person wall flip seat.. there to use if needed.. flip it against the wall.. if not needed. With the daybed removed, now you have space to add a wet bath. Also, Cut the bed in half.. have it flip down from both sides.. the biggest selling point would be the space under the bed. Market that area as a kennel.. We love our pets in America. Their family, we went then comfortable I have to ask…Do you guys use or truly understand your product. Come on, think out of the box.
While not called out during the video, there are 6 locations where USB ports are located in the coach. You can see 5 of the 6 at these points in the video: Driver's side overhead @ 2:11 Dinette cabinetry @ 2:48 Above refrigerator @ 6:53 Under large work table top @ 10:09 Rear of coach @ 11:45 Plus 2 in the automotive dash area
Winnebago tried to COPY the Thor scope and while that scope has a few problems its selling at $59,999 at shows now.......This copy is over 100,000 no bathroom, no generator, no ALOT of THINGS.......... and ofcourse, the materials are from the dollar store, the radio is the factory one that has proven to fail within two months, and yet the price is ridiculous still!
