Mark - thanks mate always a fair run down - Wallabies fan here - shew Joe has his work cut out ..and the Boks are a great team so much depth.. all over the place.
The Bok lineup is exciting. The current setup is so deep, you really can’t call this a B-side. It looks like a very attack-minded group, and if the experiment doesn’t do that well, the bench is scary. Look for Mapimpi to score two or three tries to keep up its great strike rate.
I think us Saffas are quietly confident, but it will definitely be closer than last week. I think it would be closer even if the Boks didn't do the wholesale changes. The Aussies will be up for it this week.
When we our players are back from injury I'd like to see this backline: 9 Grant Williams 10 Sasha Feinberg-Mngomezulu 11 Kurt-Lee Arendse 12 Lukhanyo Am 13 Canan Moodie 14 Cheslin Kolbe 15 Damian Willemse
@@henk_iii It has been said before that if all SA forwards are white and the whole backline consists of coloured and black people, nobody wil beat the Springboks !
I'd have Sasha at fullback with Manie fly-half, and Lukhanyo at centre with one of Damian or Jessie, the other of the two as replacement off bench. So, Williams, Libbok, Kolbe/Mapimpi, Am, Kriel/De Allende, Arendse/Mapimpi, Feinberg Mngomezulu...
In 2022 Wallabies beat the Springboks 25-17 11 wallabies players from that game are in the squad for this weekend, 9 Springboks players from that game are also in their match squad. In other words 11 aussies know what it's like to get a win over the boks and 8 saffas know what it's like to lose against the wallabies. This notion that Australian players don't know how to beat South African players is only true for the rookies. A core chunk of Wallabies guys have done it before and will be confident they can do it again. They can't be any worse than last week and consistent selection plays to the law of averages.
I mostly agree, but feel the springboks are in a gifted position more choices than you can poke a stick at. Due to my birthrite I am unable and unwilling to support any other team , boks gonna add horns Saturday 😅
@@michaelallen7155 Boks are certainly formidable. I don't think they're unbeatable like the McCaw-Carter era All Blacks were, but they're definitely a dominant team in our modern game. Boks and Ireland are going through a golden generation of players right now.
I've got a weird feeling about this game. I know it's irrational, in a way, but I think that with the ramped up speed on the grass, it's going to be Springboks by at least 20.
In Rassie we trust! Many changes but he has to build experience amongst the younger players and measure them at one point or another... So why not? Also manage key players and resting them while probably also tasking them with preparing for upcoming fixtures. This might not be the regular team but by no means a poor one. We shall see. Only factor might be cohesion but certainly not ability. Go Bokke!
I have faith in Rassie n believe this is the squad that's gonna humble wallabies this weekend, You can question Rassie's methods but you can't question his results
Given where he started, the strict lock down rules in SA, the politics he has navigated, and the depth SA now have, Rassie's win/lose ratio is outstanding.
An interesting subplot will be the battle between Mapimpi and Koroibete. It was quite heated between them during the double header in the 2022 Championship, 1-1 with Perth to be the decider?
The idea of an A team or B team in Rugby is quite outdated. You select 33 of the best players you can find in your country and make sure all the combinations work together.
Bok coaches thinking very long term, since many veteran players may not be around for the next RWC2027 Why not experiment when there is opportunity to do so? Insurance is on the bench.
The new players who’ve come in for the Boks will have a point to prove to Rassie, the point being that they belong on the team. So that’s what’ll make them dangerous.
Fair commentary once again - Two Cents? You need an upgrade Boet! At least a quarter, taking inflation into account... lol. (You're one of the better NZAus voices ... (Wildkard gives me PTSD...) it is scary talking about this team as if it's a C-team... but realising the insance depth o fthe Bok squad, but also that the difference in potential between this team and the 'First' team is microscopic when comparing the real difference to ANY other international team - For a point in case ... If we knew the Irish 'Third' team ... would it be able to compete against the Bulls?
This will be a good test for the forward pack. .whilst building some depth. . These guys will be keen to put in a good showing. Peter- Steph will probably be managing the forwards seeing that he is more experienced.
As a wallaby fan I’m a bit skeptical about this weekend. A lot of talk on socials and Reddit forums has either been blindish optimism or reminding ourselves that a return to the top is a long game and we need a LOT of patience. That being said some of the additions like Marika and Angus are nice, and I hope the home players laws get scrapped in the future but for this test I’m feeling a bit shaky. Hopefully we have a much better showing than what happened last week
I've always found Australia's overseas law a very backwards thing, especially in this day and age. South Africa changed theirs and look at them? Top players playing in top clubs and boosting their game. Australia needs players to branch out and play abroad to gain that experience they desperately need
@@Mo-yd8xc raygun was embarrassing but kinda funny. Wallabies last week made me die inside a little. But again, we have to have mass amounts of patience until we are pretty good
@@zachm25 yeah exactly what I think will help the squad as well as Schmidt being a competent coach compared to Eddie. A lot of people are now realising that super rugby (or at least it seems that some people) are seeing that super rugby may not be fulfilling its purpose anymore and is just too bloated and under managed to compete with things like top 14 or premiership. So really to me it’s a no brainer to get people like Skelton back in the squad
@@hughstark4882 breakdancing went out in this country in the 80s. It was very funny. A comic named Rachel Dratch recreated it on The Tonight Show W Jimmy Fallon.
Going to be a sea of green at the game, and that's not saying as a 1 eye'd supporter. However the green will probably be hidden because the weather is looking very average tbh.
I have been watching the Stormers for years and haven't seen anything to suggest Moerat is anything special. I know I'm not alone in this, and there would likely be a lot of clicks in it for you if you made a video breaking down his stats and what he brings to the team that we don't see, because Rassie doesn't select passengers.
I believe that to under rate this selection of the Bokke is just stupid. At the same time, a person would be delusional to write off the Aussies. They are hurting, and they want to give some hurt back. I stand by my point, Super Rugby is hurting Aussie and AB’s. It is time to move on! Looking forward to see what Rassie plans with Pollard and Libbok on the bench. And to see what Am can do paired with Kriel.
@@berylbarry9825 how is Rassie’s selection stupid? You will have to expound. With the possible exception of Moerat, every player in this team has proven themselves in the URC or Championship Cup, as well as in their countries colours. Then, the entire bench is made up of World Cup winners….. so, please do explain. If only so that I can make a coherent reply..
Welp, challenge is on for the Wallabies in the wet and in expat territory WA. And yeah Joey definitely needs strong speedsters on the left flank in Koroibete as the lone overseas player in here.
Australia still not learning only playing two jumpers on the run on side again and I think the changes are also panic. But we will see how better we play.
I’m not sure of the accuracy of the report but I did see a stat that Wilson took more lineouts than anyone else in the rugby championship last weekend. Wouldn’t him, LSL and Blyth make three jumpers?
Well done again Mark. Please do SA a favour and have a look at last Sat. match SA v Aust. Minute 39.38 till 40.38 , 60 seconds. See how Aust. enter rucks 7 times from the side, not penalized once by cheat Luke Pearce. Especially 40.08 what Valetini does and where he ends up. SA is just regularly cheated like this and then expected to keep quiet !
@@jake2172-p2v Monty and Frans Steyn were not selected in the team because Butch couldn't kick, they were selected because they were the best. Steyn was fast tracked because JDV was ruled out due to injury. In order to pick Manie, Willemse or DDA must make way for Pollard or Sacha. Not the same thing.
We need an Australian performance-I am neutral on this occasion but another hammering is not great for rugby in OZ. The Boks are great with huge strength in depth and only Ireland on a good day will come close but we need the gap between the top 2 ( sorry AB fans) and the rest to be much closer for world rugby health .
Last time, Korobete played against the Boks he shredded us. I'm not confident about the Boks/Lions 9. He is a real long shot. Luckily Williams is on the bench as cover
The one thing that confuses the heck out of me is the Mapimpi selection. Yes hes incredible, but he wont replace KLA or Kolbe in the 15. Would have much rather given a youngster like Moodie some valuable minutes and experience
Interesting squad. Should be a quicker game. We must give them zero space. Run at them ball in hand and tackle them low and hard. We need to be sharp and perky.
The start XV only needs some game time, exp on the field and keeping the Wallabies at bay. Once the bench come into play it will be over for the Wallabies. I see another win by 30 for the Boks, especially in the last 30mins of the game. Don't forget those newcomers is going to want to impress Rassie since we have so many players to choose from.
OMG! Nic White is playing! I thought that he died of a massive moustache injury inflicted by the finger of Faf de Klerk! Maybe he should wear a grid iron helmet to protect his furry upper lip from possible trauma!
Was there in 2017. Was the year they cut the force was an emotional game! Hope the Wallabies give us some hope this weekend. Sadly it’s going to be raining!!
I hate how we continue to try to be a box kicking team. We have NEVER done it well and picking Nic white just signals that it will be more of the same 😔
I dont think rassie is taking this TRC seriously in terms of winning the trophy i think hes trying all the kids out at the highest level to see if theyll be worth it in the future
@@FrancoisCoetzee On the bench, as back up. This is a very inexperienced and experimental side, especially the forwards. Let's hope it doesn't blow up in his face.
Make no mISTake this is a powerful . skillful Bok team , there is no B or C team. this is the best team available for this week. The only player i have a little doubt about is Moerat good player but haven't seen that EXTRA from him , that separates the world class from club side.
@@x-latetv-x6816 Boks B team, with a normal 5 - 3 bench split? Something is definitely wrong here. Our bench will have to come on and save us. I will not question king Rassie but I prefer consistency in selection...
The boks are in trouble , especially if they take a swipe at white's moustache and miss , his football penalty milking skills could only have been learnt from soccer
It's good so the Wallabies bring on the worst player and holigan of all korobete. He will be send off with his usual high and armless tackles. He is possible the worst. He is only there for strongarm tactics.
Whats your take on all blacks couching the boks .......that guy thats in the bok camp changed the whole bok defense 😂😂😂😂 without all blacks the boks are fokol
