Walleye and Sheepshead combo, on the jig

Today, we're looking for walleye. It's the month of November, and we're running the 3/4oz Flexi-jig with the blue Skoolie Minnow on it. We're bouncing them off the bottom through the stronger current.

when the water is cold like that, the sheephead are tasty. Firm enough for a nice pot of chowder. Always surprises me how little meat is on them for the size.

Thick scales/skin, they're definitely tough to fillet compared to other freshwater fish. Down in the southern US they're a delicacy, "gaspergou." If you fillet them properly there's a decent amount of meat on them...the meat is firm like a pork chop, instead of flaky like most whitefish (walleye, bass, etc.)

Are we going to get any upper steelhead this winter, need more info having trouble getting them tight lines!

There's not a lot of steelhead in the Upper...you'll have to head to the Ontario or Erie tribs for steelhead, or the Lower Niagara river, water that flows into the Lakes. The Upper flows out of Lake Erie.

Well Im kinda young, live in fort erie and ride my bike down to the peace bridge so its pretty much my only choice as much as Id like to go to the lower and I Have seen people catch a good load of trout under the peace bridge so im at least going to try plus I know Ivo fishes upper steelhead too @@ChrisG9978

Nothing wrong with catching sheepshead...aka Lake Erie Tuna. They're probably the best fighters of any fish species in that lake. Some of my hardest near-rod-breaking fights have been from large sheepshead weighing over 10 lbs. They feel like giant smallmouth, on steroids. I normally don't hook up with as many Sheepshead in the Upper Niagara however...mostly bass out of there. Have yet to catch a nice trout out of the Upper, though I know they're in there during the late Fall/early Winter time frame.
