I was able to dent mine ever so slightly with a .50 beowulf 350grain at 100 yards. 5.56, 300black, 30.06, 450 bushmaster, and .308 only removed the paint so far. great targets.

At 2700 fps, the 450 bushmaster is really comparable to the 45-70. I personally think it’s just a bolt action version of a 45-70. With those options now, the real question is do you want a bolt or a lever action?
@Wayne-hs6gm
@Wayne-hs6gm 3 года назад
@@poorfatman5317 I did not realize that. But that doesn’t really affect my statement. The 450 is a new cartridge designed for ar-15 platform, that became popular as a bolt action. There has been very little research into custom load data compared to the 45-70. And at the end of the day, it’s the ft-lbs of energy that matter. And the 450 is able to compete with it in the lighter weight bullets ( 200gr). The 450 is essentially the poor mans big game cartridge.

Don't take this comment wrong, have enjoyed your videos. Just want to send you some physics info to explain holes in the AR500 plate of one round/rifle vs another. Center of mass vs vectors of the chains holding up the plate. High momentum rounds (mass x velocity) are more likely to penetrate the plate above center of the plate. Any round in the center of the plate will likely be absorbed (50 cal). Rounds below center of plate are more likely to flip it. Rounds on crossing axis from chains and center of plate may also produce a hole in the plate (torque). Just a bit of knowledge, send the bull lots and keep banging.

I got some AR 500 steel plates from midway USA on sale a few years ago and I ended up hanging them from 2x4”s and getting some of those temporary/ folding saw horse things and it makes an awesome mobile target system. Single large gongs for long range rifle stuff and 3 on one for a plate rack, love em! Haven’t damaged them yet, other than a chunk out of the edge of one plate from a close range 5.56

Awesome video man. Your enthusiasm matches my own although I unfortunately don't own quite the selection of weapons you do. If people don't get the urge to go shoot after watching this video, they never will. I just repainted my gongs and I'm goin shootin! Thanks for all your hard work putting such a great video together man.

Been contemplating picking up a few of those plates myself, and now that I know they can withstand a 50, I think they will be a nice addition to my personal range.

I like going back and watching these episodes. We got another volcano going off over here, so it's nice to watch these videos. I hope the flow doesn't get as far as our shooting range. That'd be tragic. Thanks, brother. 🤙🏾

This was a great video WTW, fun to watch while learning new things like the energy coming out of a 45-70, never shot one before. BTW brother, cardio, cardio, cardio !

I believe that if u would have had the metal target flat against another surface the Barrett would have went through but seeing as you had it swinging it didn’t,just my guess

Love it!!! I was impressed by the 45-70. Never owned one but always wanted that caliber. We gotta see those 12 gauge SST slugs in action against that steel. Penetration? Nahh. Hammer of Thor? Yep!!!! Great job! Keep'em coming!

Omg the energy behind the 45/70 impressed me but then you slugged that puppy with the 50 and the target almost came off the chain. The energy behind that 50 is no joke especially compared to the smaller calibers. Ive never fired a 50 bmg and id really like to

Dang. I thought for sure the 50 would have punched through like nothing. Totally surprised me. But after seeing the video I'm guessing because the plate was hanging and able to move some of the bullet energy went into bouncing that plate around. The bushes off to the side were almost a highlight of the video when that 50 was fired 😆.

Just listening to the difference in sounds as you climb up the caliber ladder is pretty cool. 😊. From ringing, to a thumping as you get up into the rifles....

Kind of had an advantage here I’ve shot the exact same target from Wally World for several months now and nothing I hit it with has done any more than dimple it! Don’t got a big fifty though. I thought that might have sailed through it but she stopped it shows me I ought to get more than a few years out of mine I’ll be buying more of those!

I bought one of these when there was no ammo or firearms and I’m really impressed with it. It was stopping everything up to a 308. That’s the biggest caliber I have.

Ha...lol. At first with that Heritage 22 six shooter I thought you tore that target up. I heard it hit then saw the damage..."WHATT"!!! Then realized "it was the paper". Yep, you're going to have to get some spray paint 👌

I have a cheap 1/2 inch steel from Amazon. I was expecting it to be done after 2000 rounds. Suprises it's still taking a beating after 7,500+ rounds. It was a good $25 investment

That was another awesome video. I really liked the 45-70 extreme penetrator round. Those hit pretty hard. I do believe the 50 BMG would go right through if the plate was securely mounted. Just so it doesn't swing and angle it so the projectiles go into the ground. Keep ringing steel!
