Season your wooden spoons with oil after you wash with soap and water before you use for cooking. I run them under super hot water and rub with olive oil before cooking (similar to wooden bowls and cutting boards). Rub a raw lemon on them and let them set for a bit if they smell. If your Google "cleaning wood to be food safe". It will give instructions. Great haul! Those cutting boards are beautiful.
You'll have to try the sweet watermelon and buttercream wax melts. It smells amazing!! I've been using it in my kitchen lately!! Thanks for showing us your finds!!
With the prices in so many thrift stores going up, I appreciate how you showed some things from Walmart. And you are right, most everyone has a Walmart in their area. Have a blessed day😊
I think most kitchens have a mix of old and new items. Nothing wrong with that. Like you, I have concerns about thrifted wooden kitchen tools. I have some antique muddlers. One looks like it might have been dipped in motor oil. I bought it to see if it could be sanded/painted. But it will never be anything more than decor!
Hi Karrie, family, and fur babies. I love french country; however, there is something called mixed interiors. It is your home and you bring in whatever style you like. Great Haul. SHARED TO THE BURGH(STTB).
Well we don't have Walmart in our country and I'm just making an assumption but is it like a warehouse type store, stocking food right through to appliances?? I guess I can understand why some people would shop new, however I won't because of waste, adding to landfill and things made 20+ years ago are better quality. I've bought all my wooden utensils secondhand and I just clean them with vinegar then put them in the sun for 30 minutes, wash them in hot soapy water and re-oil them and they're good to go. Thank you for sharing 😊 xx
I would say, just looking at what I've seen of your videos that your home looks like a vintage/antique cottage. That's what my home is and your lovely home reminds me of mine. Just my opinion of course.😊
You really picked up some nice things. With the cost going up on thrift stores it can makes sense a lot of times to buy brand new. At least in my area. I’ve found that most things are being charged as if they are brand new at thrift stores. Your style I think leans more French country. But I don’t think we need to put a name on anything, it’s just your style. Can’t wait to see the surprise ~ Janet 😘
I like a lot of style to. I’m eclectic. I mix it all. If I like it for home decor I will buy and place it in my home somewhere. Love to change out decor seasonally. Enjoyed your video.
I watched a video showing how to clean your wooden spoons once a month. Just boil them for about 15 minutes & then check out the water. Yuck!! I tried it & now I will also be doing this once a month then oil them.
Only the most well seasoned and well treated cast iron become non stick over time. Never use soap to clean them. They are hard to keep at first! I love many different styles myself and never stick to just one look. I love my own look that is cottage and farmhouse with a touch of romantic French country but I love and crave color too!
Sometimes I just spray my cast iron with oil and heat on stove and let it set then wipe it later with paper towel ( if it’s starting to look kinda dry or rusty). Then just wipe bottom with same paper towel so bottom gets alight oil but not too much. Done that for years!
A true old farmhouse would have the vintage, eclectic things that we call "cottage" style. They go together perfectly. I grew up in homes like that. Just do what YOU like 😊
Everything in your haul is practical and stylish. I am like you and so many of us that like certain elements of this style and that style. The way I look at it is that’s what makes a house a home, you might inherit something that is precious to you , buy something that catches your eye or is attractive and practical and it adds up to a home that has personality unique to the people that live there.Your home reflects your warmth and seems welcoming, nothing beats that.🫂💜🦋p.s. I have the same vintage scissors that belonged to my mother, still good as gold.
