I even like Aldi pepperoni too. Never ate hash but have fried my own corned beef chopped up with own chopped potatoes and melted cheese slices on it...similar.
The trick with hash is to cook it until it starts getting crispy my family love it also serve with something like an over easy egg makes it great as well its a good item to bring camping can cook it over a fire pretty easy too.
Your cream of mushroom soup is somewhere hiding, partying with your pizza sauce! LOL! Nice haul! :-) I personally have a problem with the idea of bartering. In MY opinion, if someone needs something to eat badly enough to try to barter for it, they will remember where you can be found, and with the knowledge that you must have plenty if you can barter food, come back for more. If you don't give them what they want, they may decide to come with a few friends to take all that you have, no matter what they have to do to get it. I don't trust people anymore; there was a time when my children would bring friends or coworkers home, knowing I would feed them or shop my pantry to take food home, and I didn't have problem with that. I won't do it anymore. People are rude, nasty, entitled, and have no problem taking from others when they don't get what they want handed to them. Again, this is MY opinion, and I have been around long enough to be horrified by others' behavior. I have grandchildren close to your age...
Hi Karla! Hope you’ve been doing well. They are definitely partying together lol! You have come up with a valid point when it comes to bartering. 💜 Thank you for taking the time to share. Also, thanks for watching! ☺️
Follow direction exactly on can of corn beef hash...don't stir...let it get crispy before flipping over to other side to get crispy...sooo tasty...crisp on the outside and soft and flavorable on the inner side.. i learned the hard way and first time it was a mushy mess.
Brenda thank you so much! So happy that you found my video useful. 💜 Sometimes we have to “switch” things up. Now will they notice... tbd. 🤣🤣 Thanks for watching!
Here’s a hint regarding buttermilk: there’s really never a reason to buy any. If you have a recipe that calls for say a cup of buttermilk, put 1 tablespoon ACV in a 1-cup measuring cup. Add whatever regular milk you have to it, to equal one cup. Let it sit a couple of minutes and voila -> buttermilk. I’ve used the method for cooking and baking for 30 years and it works perfectly. Also about sardines: if you like seafood at all, give them a chance! You can add them to dishes like pasta, you can make a salad like tuna salad (or do a half/half tuna/sardine salad, you can put them on toasted bread with lettuce, Duke’s, sliced red onion…. Delicious! SO much cheap sustainable protein. Love your channel!
The best meatloaf I had was using a recipe from a youtuber called "Divas can Cook". She has a meatloaf recipe called man pleasing meatloaf on her channel that is delicious. Great haul.
This was absolutely a great haul from beginning to end. I look forward to all your baking and gardening and canning 💕. My husband looks at me like who are you just a few years ago you didn’t care to do most of what your doing. 🤣
Thanks so much Tommy! Thanks for supporting me on my journey! ❤️ My husband literally about fell out when I made the biscuits. He’s so used to having biscuits out the bag, he didn’t know how to act with homemade biscuits lol.
Hey Appolonia try frying some bacon and take a little of the bacon grease and put it in the corn beef for flavor. Then I crunch bacon in mine when I eat it. With just a tablespoon of sugar. I promise it will be good
Great haul! Y'all lucky to get a lot of awesome things down south that we can't get up north like those baked apples and that Duke's Mayo (Or Blue Plate Mayo too).
Hi Sherry and Ricky! Thanks so much for letting me know. Hope y’all have been doing well and that you’re feeling better. 💜 Edited to add: I see that y’all have really been going through it. Praying for you and you’re entire family. 🙏🏽❤️
Yes ma’am we are a Duke’s mayo household as well!!! NO other brand will do! Great haul!!! Headed to Walmart today and I’ll be on the hunt for some of these items! 👀 Thank you so much for sharing! Stay safe stay well and God bless! ❤️
Yes Christie Wall!!! Duke’s is awesome! Hope you found some great items at Walmart. Thanks so much for watching! Stay safe and God Bless you and your family too! ❤️
I dont know how you cooked the corned beef has but make sure that you cut up Vidalia onions and saute them before adding the hash. Add salt pepper to taste and then eat with grits, eggs and bacon! My family loves when I cook hash.
Girl I died laughing when you were talkin about your husband and the cereal bars! what they don't know! we love our pinto beans in the slow cooker with some ham hocks. thats a good barter item as it lasts for a loooong while. love seeing the spices, they are an awesome stockpile buy!!
Lol!!! Hey Ashley, we have to do what we have to do sometimes. 🤣 Pintos in the slow cooker with ham hocks, now that sounds good! Thanks so much for watching!
Lol let me know how the switch goes. We did it with Annie's Mac and cheese! Mei said, " what is wrong with my Mac and cheese!!!" She was heartbroken. Of course we made her Kraft.
Omg your family is so funny regarding store brand. Yes grab barter items. Great idea. My cats eat sardines. Omg you are brave. I always keep the broth on hand but usually 4 of each. Good job. I am obsessed with hand soaps too. I think we now have 50 prepped.
Amy, they really are. Lol! I’m a little nervous to try sardines however, I think it’s now or never. I’m feeling a little brave. I’m so happy to know that I’m not the only one obsessed with hand soap. Wow! 50? Oh, yeah, we’re in this together. Thank so much for watching! ☺️
A half can of the Hunt's meatloaf sauce is a good amount otherwise the meatloaf may have a soupy texture unless you double the bread crumbs or crackers. Spam is rather salty. Good to take a can and added it to a huge pan of hashbrowns with no added salt.
Sherlyn, thanks for letting me know. I definitely don’t want the meatloaf to be too soupy. I’ll have to make sure to cook the spam with hash browns too! Thanks so much for watching.
That is a super great hall! But you're awfully tricky with those nutri grain bars LOL 😂😂👍👍you are definitely hilarious best channel on RU-vid God bless you and your family I hope you're having a blessed day okay I'm in the barnyard I got to finish up
Hey, hey America first! Sometimes you have to do what works lol. 🤣🤣 I’ll take that as a compliment lol. God bless you and your family too! Stay safe out there. Thanks as always for watching!
Nido has been a staple in my home for about 5 years. It is amazing and so good. I even will drink this where I hate normal white milk. And my brother is pickier than I am and loves it too. I need extra protein due to being on Chemotherapy and adding a serving of Nido to 8 oz of water with my protein powder.
Watching your video's from the Netherlands. We don't even have the food you have but still watching, love it. Sardines in water? I have never seen that before. We have them in oil , some are good and some are really bad.
Hi Sarah Pacini, from the Netherlands! That’s awesome! I appreciate you supporting me. 💜 Yes ma’am, sardines in water. We have them in oil here as well. Hopefully the ones I picked up are good. 😬
I freeze pepperoni and just pull a bag out when I need them. Never had a problem. I just use a zip lock bag. I have also tried the Banner sausage and it is NOT sausage! It may be ground pork but definitely not sausage; very disappointed in it. Nice haul :)
Popcorn is GREAT for a prepper pantry but not the microwave kind. It'll go rancid quite quickly. Popcorn is VERY easy to make on the stove. It's stores long term and in a pinch, can be ground into cornmeal.
I buy the GV brand beans for my chili. I even bought the GV chili seasoning packs because it was so late and I didn't want to grab out all the spices to do my own. But it was really good. I throw in a couple brand name cans with the GV ones. They also have the chili beans. So good! 2 had chili last night, 4 had tacos and one had nutella on bread! I was low on taco shells so put them on my order for today. I got 8 boxes and should have gotten more. My bunch loves tacos. I know those picking my orders are tired of me! Great video as usual:)
Sherry, what kind of beans do you use for your chilli? You do the same thing I do it sounds like. Shop and wish you had picked up more lol. Hey, they’re probably getting sick of me at Walmart too with all the orders.
Always smart to have bartering items! I love bacon, so the bags of bacon crumbles from Costco are a great option for the pantry. I coupon for personal hygiene and laundry products to barter. I already barter with people and they tend to want: toothpaste, mouthwash, laundry detergent, dishwasher pods, feminine pads, disinfectants, and rubbing alcohol.
Tip for the tortillas: use a cast iron griddle or skillet to make them. I tried it in a non stick grill and a regular frying pan and it was a mess. The cast iron skillet made the difference!
Wow! Super haul and I enjoyed it. You got some great cheap things!! Now, don’t worry!! You can start cooking things you aren’t used to cooking! That is the reason I am on You Tube. I love watching food recipes! You just put in what you want and you will have all the information step by step you need!! I LOVE cooking!! You can do it and your family will love it!! 😊😊🥰
@@worldofappolonia I will be more than happy to help you out with any recipe! (My family keep telling me I need a YT channel)! 😱😱😳😳. Hope you and your family are also doing well!
Hey friend you have a really beautiful grocery haul I love everything but just to let you know you can put your pepperonis in the freezer or the deep freezer. I have two packs that I got from Sam's Club in there now it freezes just fine also you can do your own research and popcorn is really good to have in your pepper pantry as well, also in my opinion off brand & name brands items do NOT all taste the same it depends on your taste buds but like my grandmother used to say you would eat it before it eat you lol 😂 if you are hungry thank you for sharing I can't wait to get back to the store myself. ♥️
Hey, hey friend. I hope that you had a great New Year and that you and your son have been doing well. Thank you for letting me know about the pepperonis. Hey, my husband caught on already lol. 🤦🏽♀️
@@worldofappolonia good morning yes we are doing great yes the pepperonis holds up very well in the freezer or the deep. I had a feeling your husband probably would have caught on eventually 😉 because sometimes you just know the difference but some name brand items are still good like I said it depends on your taste buds lol 😆
Great haul! Picking up a $300 order at my local Walmart tomorrow at 6p. I don't go in Walmart anymore but I can't stay off their app ordering stuff for pickup 🤣😂
Lena!!! Thanks so much hun. Is it not a struggle to stay off the app? I don’t know what to do at this point lol. Sounds like you have a huge haul to pick up. Lots of good stuff I’m sure. Thanks for watching! ☺️
@@worldofappolonia the app is very addicting. Only about $75 of that is weekly groceries the rest goes in my stockpile. We completely converted an extra bedroom into a prepper room. Almost to a year's worth of preps. Lacking in water but we have no place to store it. Only have a couple weeks worth. We do have multiple types of portable water filtration straws and units though.
Thank you Nally! Make sure that you utilize all of the space that you have. If you’re able to use a closet or even storage under your bed if you have room. ❤️
When I was a kid I caught my mom putting powdered milk into the milk jug. I was stunned. Who is this woman I asked myself. After that I saw my mom in a new light. Lol
Good luck in your quest to bake and try new recipes. I love to bake but hate to cook but I've gotten a lot better at cooking this past year because of the restaurant situation. I learned to bake homemade bread and it was really good. Don't be intimidated-it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be edible!
You said that you wanted to try your hand at making meatloaf. I’ve made meatloaf all my life but hadn’t found a recipe that I really liked . . . until last year. This one from Jordan Page is so terrific. I like it the day we make it and I even like it either warmed up or eaten cold on a sandwich. I haven’t done the topping yet, but I will. I now make a double batch and freeze in dollar tree foil pans. It’s nice to have something made ahead. Good luck!! Jordan Page’s Classic Meatloaf Recipe This hearty recipe is so filling and delicious! We guarantee your family will be asking for seconds. Double (or triple) this recipe and freeze some for later. PREP TIME 15 mins COOK TIME 45 mins TOTAL TIME 1 hr COURSE Main Course CUISINE American SERVINGS 8 Mini Loaves INGREDIENTS For the Meatloaf 1 Egg ¾ cup Milk 1 lb Lean Ground Beef 1 cup Shredded Cheese ½ cup Quick Oats ½ cup Chopped Onions 1 tsp Salt Sauce for Topping ⅔ cup Ketchup ½ cup Packed Brown Sugar 1 ½ tsp Mustard INSTRUCTIONS Preheat oven to 350°F. Finely chop onions. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg and milk with a whisk. Slowly fold in meat, cheese, oats, onions, and salt. Mix thoroughly with your hands. Divide mixture into 8 equal portions and form 8 mini loaves, then place in a greased glass 9x13 dish or pan where they don't touch. Put in the oven and bake for 20 minutes. While your meatloaves cook for the first half, prep the sauce by mixing the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard in a bowl. After the loaves have been cooking for 20 minutes, remove from oven and top with the ketchup mixture. Put back in the oven and cook for an additional 25 minutes or until heated to 160°F. Let cool for 5 minutes, then serve and enjoy! NOTES You can also bake this recipe in a whole loaf, we just happen to think the mini loaves add to the magic. Be sure to extend the cooking time if you do it in a larger loaf! Start with 55 minutes total and cook until it's heated to 160°F.
I think the granola switch is funny. My friends husband would only eat a certain brand of ice cream. So she would do the same thing. He never knew the difference. 😆
The great value sardined are $1 or less and it’s a great protein for people and pets. The NIDO milk powder is from whole milk and way better than the non-fat regular brand. If you get the Vienna sausages and you don’t like them, they would be good barter foods.
Hash is an acquired taste...cook it up then scramble some eggs, pour over top and mix in...add cheese and pepper (it has enough salt) maybe some chives or parsley over top. That might help 🙂 You can never have too many spices. I am trying to collect up jars and start transferring them out of the plastic containers to glass. Nice trick on the granola bars, hope it works.
@@worldofappolonia I am trying to reuse jars...like those pizza sauce jars if you wanna part with them 🤣🤣 I have found canning jars and saving them for my garden harvest. It was a close call last yr.
You got some great items for your prepper pantry! I love those flashlights and will definitely look for one at my Walmart. I've never seen the minced garlic in water. I would imagine it would last longer than the garlic in oil over time. FYI, I saw a haul where someone found the Marzetti caramel dip at Dollar Tree. I've also gotten chicken and beef broth there. It would save a couple of cents. Thanks again for sharing you finds!
Hi Dannie! Thank you! I was thinking about the minced garlic in water lasting longer as well. That would be great! I found the Marzetti caramel dip at my Dollar Tree too, but didn’t pick it up because it was a single cup. Not sure if they originally came in a pack of 3 or not. Thanks so much as always for watching!
@@worldofappolonia Yes, the you tuber I saw showed a single cup, too. I didn't see any at my DY, but I once saw a single cup of the Jif to Go. The other day they had the 3-pack, so I'm not sure if the store separates them or customers do. I'd definitely ask at the checkout
You got a really good haul right there a lot of good items. I really like the sardines in mustard they seem to taste better than the ones in water. I personally think that the ones in water taste a little bit fishy but I do like the ones in oil or mustard. But I prefer the one in mustard however the oil one can be used for an emergency oil lamp once you finish the sardines.
Girl you have thebest hauls! I just love them. Also those candles were some great finds. The zin is wonderful alone, but I mix it with a lemon or pineapple scent sometimes too. Fantastic!
I think I've mentioned it to you before but when you make your meatloaf..try putting a stuffing mix in with your mixture as part of your crumb or filler base. It gives great flavor!
Stacie that’s what I’m thinking. Sort of like cheese. I may just put half in the freezer and keep half on the shelf to compare the two over the next few months.
