Workers have a right to form a union and negotiate for better wages and working conditions. But what we're seeing is profitable corporations like Walmart doing everything they can to prevent that. That's unacceptable.
I've been working for Walmart for three years and I know that some of my coworkers would make better managers than the ones currently in place. As for the unions, I was told by a coworker that the management hand guide details how to recognize and eliminate workers from trying to form a union. If that fails there is a number they call, and if THAT fails corporate's final attempt would be to shut down the entire store before the group can be founded.
"The National Labor Relations Act guarantees your legal right to join or form a union without interference, restraint or coercion from your employer." Walmart violates this constantly and should be shut down for such a thing. If anyone does not believe they never pay off law makers to look the other way is such a fool.
corporate will kill us by attrition long before any illness will. we need to band together for the greater good, the legacy of the next generation is set on slavery as it is now. Walmart is also a monopoly. stop shopping there, unionize so the store shuts down and other jobs will become available in your town again. it really is that simple, the power of unity. we will lose many battles before we win the war against us, but we will win. love will always win
I remember when they made us watch the updated version of that video that was even worse (claimed that unions were just groups trying to sap money out of walmart through manipulating our employees) I tried to start a discussion about it with my coworkers and they were all completely brainwashed to agree with it.
The TJX version says that you will hurt your fellow coworkers by having a union. You are disloyal to your friends. YOU are bad for wanting to have money. It really is quite a flip of truth.
Walmarts managers act more like politicans trying to climb the corporate ladder. I worked there for a bit over 2 months and was making around 11 dollars an hour. They wouldn't give me a consistent schedule, starting some days at 8am and others at 5pm in the same work week. They would also give me a 8am to noon and then a 2pm to 6pm the same day, am I supposed to go home for 1 hour and spend 30 minutes driving each way? They kept all employees that weren't managers under 38 hours a week to avoid giving benefits. The only benefits I heard anyone ever using was their employee discount, and even that didn't apply to half the things in the store. Honestly I think it should be forced to pay people properly or be shit down. It is morally reprehensible that a business be allowed to do this.
These clowns tried to schedule me at 1 shift per week all month. This is what they do when they want to get rid of you. I didn't take any of their BS and they didn't like me because of it. The company shows workers BS videos about safety and all of that goes out the window once you get on the floor to work. Managers are clowns at best as well. I took a video of a night manager being an idiot and she tried saying it was "illegal to video her". The video wasn't even aimed at her, it was aimed away from her. She didn't like it because she knew damn well that she was being unreasonable. I should upload it hahaha.
Walmart needs a union. they treat the employees badly. 24 cent raise a year, reduced hours, work load increases when others call out, bonuses affected by customer accidents, Wyncote pa store shooting apparently affected associates bonus.
Abhishek Dev: many of the people working for Walmart ARE going to school or doing something to better themselves. It can take 2-4 years to develop the skills they need. That doesn’t mean they should be treated like crap in the meantime.
Hey we got a Union at a KFC up here in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. 1st unionized KFC in North America. It took the employees 6 weeks to organize, but it got done. $15 an hour. Its only the one kfc, not all, location in Winnipeg. But they did it.
@@ryangoepfert9112 as all evidence will show, in all the countries with higher minimum wage and unionized labour force, youth unemployment is tremendously high. Spain, Italy, France, Sweden, Greece, Puerto Rico. Just so you want to get paid more for doing the same job means that a more youth will go unemployed. Lazy people won't care and continue to demand benefits anyway and non lazy people will skill up and do something to remedy low wages.
I worked at Walmart dc in Clarksville and they flat out told us. If we try to unionize they’ll shut the whole warehouse down and move it somewhere else
Walmart most definitely needs a union. Every store should be unionized. They are the worst employers I’ve ever worked for in my 40 years of employment.
...I worked walmart from the store, to the distribution center, and they definitely need a union. They will purposely make you work 40 hours a week for 5.9 months, then drop you to 32 hours a week, so they wouldn't have to give you full benefits, because walmart gives you full benefits if you work consistently for 6 months. That amd they have ways to take your money away by demoting you or taking a dollar away per hour for misbehaving.
This is so crucial! The majority of the working population being part of a union is probably the most important reason why living standards are so high in Scandinavia.
Does this high standard of living in "Scandinavia" got nothing to do with minimum wage workers paying 60-70% income in income and payroll taxes. Not counting the sales taxes and duties which makes the $1000 iPhone cost $1500 as an example.
@@holdmybeer123 This is completely incorrect. In Norway, the average income-tax is below 30%. Also, there is no minimum wage. Wages are agreed upon in negotiation between employers and trade unions. This leads to strikes now and then, but the strength of the unions ensures that wages are higher than in most countries; and of course the wage gap between employees and management is much lower.
Curious that you would choose Norway out of the other countries. The one economy with one of the smallest population and a big oil industry by which they can afford these high taxes.
@@holdmybeer123 Nothing so devious. I chose Norway because I've lived there, so I know the society much better. So let's have a look at the biggest population in Scandinavia: Sweden does have higher taxes at around 40% on income and payroll taxes with an median income. You won't reach your 60% claim regardless of your income.. Besides, taxes aren't a bad thing as long as they aren't wasted on things like unnecessary military spending and incarceration of your population. Taxes are used to get us things like paid vacations, parental leave, health care, free schools and so on. Among so many other things, this is what unions have been fighting for and still are defending in Europe today.
@@theprussianmink Thanks for speaking truth! 🤗. What puzzles me is why progressives don't talk about the hidden taxes in the U. S. For instance, a number of years ago GM said $2000 of the price if a new car was to pay for employees health care. With a little research, I'm sure progressives could come up with a lot of info like that to refute this high tax nonsense. Is there a reason I'm missing why this isn't done?
I've worked for a union for about 9 months now and after 6 months I make more money for less work than I made in over 10 years at my previous non-union job. Also a friend of mine didn't get a raise one year because his supervisor didn't like that he wore a marylin manson shirt. I would rather be guaranteed that I get what I deserve even if people who don't work as hard get the same raise it's better than the shady practices of some companies.
Walmart has been in our community for a long time, I would be proud and more than willing to stand out in protest lines in front of that store! I'm betting I not alone there are probably thousands of customers all over this country who would agree and join in. The turnover in our local store is an ongoing continual basis, they're always looking for employees because it's such a lousy place to work. People only work there because they have to and there are no jobs any place else.
@@cybernerd5763 I don't anymore. I worked at Walmart for nearly 13 years and let me tell you they are a horrible employer. The last time I was in Walmart was when I quit back in December of 2016. So that's what over 5 years now? I'm self-employed now and so much happier.
Oh yeah, been there. Saw a similar video at my orientation a decade ago. Left that shit hole for a union job. Couldn't be happier. Competitive pay. Competitive benefits. And most importantly, I have a say in what management can and can't do. Unions fought for everything we take for granted as a worker in this country. 40 hr work week. Fair wages for a days work. Safety in the workplace. Etc. Etc. Et.al.
@@TheLameTechGuy over the years, the corporations bought the politicians who in turn, keep the minimum wage low. No breaks is still illegal if the employee works 8 hrs. And they have also been destroying unions with so called "right to work laws." Again, don't punch down by disparaging unions. It's the greedy fucks at the top who are to blame.
Do not buy anything from Walmart personally because until they pay their employees more and include healthcare I see them as a billionaire dollar store standing on the backs of our poor even as local, state and federal jobs pay for all privileges including military & families, veterans and their families with no restrictions on how much we love them.
@@abhishekdev258 There is already figuratively a gun to these people's heads, when it's either work there or starve. You assume there's just well paying alternative jobs available for people.
@@iamalongusername I don't assume that there are well paying jobs available for those who can only flip burgers. However I assume that even though they are flipping burgers right now they still have the capacity to learn. The best way to learn a new skill is to work. But unfortunately minimum wage laws prohibit employers from hiring new unskilled workers. So now they have to take a loan and go to college to learn a new skill. And this is how the figurative gun appears on their head because this cycle continues. Maybe you are too fragile to watch Joe Rogan in that case don't watch the video but if you are not some snowflake who melts in a debate then you can watch this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S6LtyFTEdis.html This is how 2 civilised people have a discussion. No name calling.
It is, but that doesn't mean they play by the rules. Look at what's going on with Starbucks. Hundreds of unfair labor practice violations. The companies get a slap on the wrist, the penalties are not severe for these multi billion dollar corporations.
I’ve definitely seen a anti union video at my time at Walmart.... even ‘diversity’ classes which was just about trashing unions... at 18-19 years old I didn’t know what unions were at the time and I was considered a ‘supervisor’ so they drilled into our heads that we could not join or condone any union activity... now as a member of a union I wish I would have known more to speak out against Walmart and call them out.. no telling how many ULP charges they could have
At the end of my orientation we were all brought in in the security room with the camars and were told if you steal we wiil catch you. Not the greatest way to end orientation for new employees.
I worked at target and it's basically the same. I believe people should have the right to form union's, problem is most of my coworkers were too stupid to even know what a labor union is, probably why they don't have one.
Y'all talking about the stores... I work in the distribution center and it sucks even worse. They constantly want us to hit rate (4500 items, 375/UPH), but the equipment is always broken and sometimes the work just isn't there. Not only that but I have to drag around a printer that's heavy on my back and spine (we wear them on belts). When I started improving my rates by taking that weight off of my spine, I was told to put the printer back on... my rate got worse. Then there's the little goofs with my freaking badge and schedule caused by Home Office and HR. Recently they told me that I didn't clock out so now I have four occurrences and a FUCKING coaching. However if I had indeed missed a punch the time clock would have told me about it and I would have corrected it. I feel this came as I was inquiring about other departments in order to leave breakpack order filling. People are right that companies and especially Walmart treat us like cattle. 🤬 Edit: Here I go in for my mandatory extra time after barely recovering from migraines, body aches, and fevers.
Walmart NEEDS a union real bad, My sunday school teacher in Mays Landing NJ works at Walmart and told me not to work at Walmart, I like shopping there but I'll probably hate working there. feel the bern.
Been working for Walmart for almost 3 years total between two stores. If there's one thing that's certain, it's that nothing is. You have to follow policy, but what that precisely means not even your manager can tell you. The letter of rule is up to individual interpretation, making anything disciplinary a big game of Kangaroo Court. Being both strict and vague is a good way to get people frustrated with you, but that's compounded by the most socially inept management I've ever seen across the big corporations. Egos and demanding respect abound, especially when nothing has been done to deserve it. Virtually nobody knows what the hell they're doing and if you're not just looking for something to give you some pocket change with a job you're not staking everything on, I would thoroughly recommend working literally anywhere else.
TJX stores do same thing. I walked into the break room and a new hire was watching an anti union video that I was not shown. She had come from a union job so they only show it to those new hires to stop them from trying to get the rest of us aware of what unions can do. I worked at a Marshall’s in Washington State. It shouldn’t be legal to show propaganda like that.
I worked for Walmart for two years. Walmart is very anti-union. When the upper management got wind of a few of my fellow associates trying to quietly form a union, they were instantly dealt with by being terminated. Working at Walmart is all good when you do what you're told to do, but if Walmart hears of any kind of rebellion, those associates responsible are instantly dealt with to prevent other associates from rising up against the corporation.
I refuse to work any job that doesn't offer benefits. I do doordashing and lyft and make decent money so I only have a job for insurance. I hate how jobs ask for a Dr note for calling in sick, but don't give insurance to you.
Walmart is like what Mother Gothel from Tangled would be like as a superstore. So many -- "Mother knows best!" vibes. "Walmart cares for us!" "Walmart listens to its employees." "We're valued." And all I hear in my head is that song.
Workers with disability will be treated with respect and they will get decent pay now at Walmart once we get a Union contract..I will get a contract with all nations Walmart I'm going to go for it all at one time I'm going to raise millions of dollars for this job I've lost my driver's license they tried to put me in jail twice for this for Union talk now getting ready at Walmart get ready employees deserve a decent job in the United States not be taking advantage of . My life will be dedicated to the Walmart employees in Walmart employees many of them want a union trying to frame me once but then try it again to frame me twice.we'll see what the jury in rustburg Virginia has to say about that when I have a jury trial. Try to frame me twice.
the mentality of "people are choosing to work" is so fucking frustrating. people are choosing to work because the other option is to die. it's not like we can just stop working if we don't like it
I was in the wood workers union They took my money and did nothing then we got laid off. I make 13 now. Key ward factory's close and move to China. I would much rather work in a factory but they move to China. Stop them from moving and Wal-Mart will have to pay more
When I started working here (at walmart), Me or the rest of the group wasn't shown any Union propaganda. I would wish to say this was because they changed their mind on the Union, but I know that its really because they don't think they need to show the propaganda anymore.
Since I talked union at Walmart as a former employee and a customer I worked in 2008 was abused by Walmart. Union contract signed at Alta Vista Virginia in 2020. Wal-Mart stole my phone . Wanted union information off it. I lost my license by government officials of Virginia because employees wanted a union I have been tortured for being a Jehovah's witness and also was tortured by government of Virginia for talking aganist Walmart Inc. in 2020 they offered me a mustang 100000 cash not to help union win election or contract. Please stand up to Walmart together you can win I took them on by my self ufcw needs to support me help me I risked everything for Walmart worker's. I lost my child for the worker's at Alta Vista Virginia.
...unions can get you an emergency leave of absence after you lost your house to property taxes! I.E. Walmart store#2003-year 2018! See my YELP review for them!...you just make sure you use (a union) it!...
A union shop would've gotten me the leave of absence i needed to save my job at the north Brunswick, new jersey store! I lost my house to property taxes!
While I am a supporter of Senator Sanders, the staff producing videos needs to check their work prior to uploading. Simple spelling errors like “propoganda” at 0:07 make the video seem amateurish and detract from how it will be received. We know you guys are working hard, just please do your best. Thank you for the work that you are doing.
Pft, please. I worked at Kroger for 3 years on a salary of $7.35 an hour, don't even talk to me about low wages. Oh and benefits? Yeah, my benefit was a Kroger card. You know, that thing any customer can get for free.
Yeah, but the Walmart has those little plastic things that stick to your cup holder so it won't fall over on the door guard thing that's snapped into the ashtray bracket. I mean you just can't find those. And that restaurant, wow! They have those Mexican sushi puffs with a delicate yogurt sauce. Best place in town since the BurgerDoodle 'n Pizza Clown closed down! Hell, sometimes I take a date there because they think maybe i'm gonna buy 'em something. Pretty dang funny doin' that. Wal-Mart union drive for union will not work unless you organize ever store if all union stick together and use social Media and news paper we can win 45 percentage to 55 percentage of the vote. Never lose your focus on human rights in the world walmart. Every walmart in the Nation .... At one time. Many unions. All i wanted Wal-Mart was my phone back. I said it in two Walmart's. You cost me and my angry my family .. in 2 years i working again with value .
Labor union you get a decent wage treated better pension a healthcare package. You wouldn't be forced to sing and dance and clap your hands before your shift. The only benefits you will be getting working at Walmart is Medicaid and food stamps.
