Walmart's Ozark Trail 15-in-1 Takes On Leatherman Surge? 

I bought one last year out of curiosity. I will stick with my Leatherman super tool 300

I daily the surge myself. I modded mine to have the micro-screwdriver so I can fix things like safety glasses. This was interesting. Thanks for sharing.

victorinox tools also are shiny but have better steel than leatherman, tested on project farm. It will take testing to truly see the metal quality. So far, we are just cautious because of the price.

I'd rather have an awl than two flatheads so I'd grind that inner flathead to a point but other than that it's a great deal. Good blade that locks, good pliers, good saw , ok scissors and file its really got everything. For the price it's a great tool. Maybe cold blue it and slip in a little magnet to hold a sail needle if possible.

Haven't had a chance to try it but this is the category of tool that I might buy a cheap one to leave in a vehicle or tackle box as a backup but continue to use my primary EDC tool.

I purchased the "Ozark Trail Multi Force 18 in 1" to try out. Though it is clearly almost three times the cost of the "Ozark Trail 15 in 1" I did not like the driver of this version. The more expensive model works well as it comes with an extension and replaceable 1/4" bits. You might want to check that one out though not necessary. Quality as far as I am concerned is adequate for the price though it is no Leatherman it performs really well. Great review!👍 Kudos from NYC🗽.

Bought it a year ago...didn't fancy the plier head so I just turn it into a 4 tool pocket knife (file, Phil, scissor and knife) keeping the pocket clip side. Worked out good, use it when u just need a knife with extras. Easy the sharpen the knife too

Just came back from wally world got this on clearance for 5 bucks and a kershaw filter for 7 had no box or tag Manger came over and slaps a Smith Wesson sticker on it score lol 😊

Victorinox Spirit is shiny and that ain't half bad. The corrosion resistance of a good finish pays over time on non-EDC tools for go bags/tool boxes/trucks. As long it is the finishing and not a sub-standard shinny steel used. Could be finishing is easier and cheaper than ever the industry has come a long way and you no longer need custom machines and compounds only Germany and Japan provide.

Just picked one up on clearance for 9 bucks. I think with the saw and other basic tools it should be perfect for camping/fishing or "bushcraft"

Is this a Great Star Industries product like the Walmart Multiforce? Its cutouts on the plier head is similar to that of the first generation Leatherman Surge with the micro driver. I like the Walmart Multiforce and Gerber Suspension NXT. I've heard Walmart will replace the Multiforce at any of there locations for free, do you know if this is true or not, Mr. Kincaid? The 15-1 looks okay. It would probably hold up for general purposes. A lot of people beat and abuse multitools beyond their capabilities. The toughest part of a plier multitool should be the pliers themselves. If your not pleased with the pliers it may speak for the rest of the tool over time and usage. My favorite implement is the pliers. A good knife blade, can opener, Philips, flat head driver to follow. I'm just spoiled with Leatherman, lol!

I might have to revisit this tool, i saw this in Walmart a few months ago for 15.00 and couldn't believe it was this good, i should of grabbed it back then, 15.00 is lunch in your stomach, this will last longer, lol! Thats how I justify something if i want it..

No locking tools, no sale.... It will cause extra pain for Leatherman in the tobacco chewing end of the market tho' 😕

Do you have after market scissors on your surge, whats that bulky thing on the side?

Everything Ozark Trail I've ever dealt with smacked of the old Harbor Freight "it'll work okay for two or three jobs and then break, but if you only have to do something once or twice, it's cheap as hell" song and dance. Good features for the price, of course, but I just can't imagine them not collapsing under moderate wear-and-tear tootsweet. Might be solid as a disposable "back-up-to-your-back-up" you throw in the glove box for that one time when the shade hits the blades, though.

No need for a warranty if you can buy 10 of them for the price of 1 Leatherman.

Funny that people are starting to realize that it's not that expensive to make these tools. It's all greed. I'm not saying the quality is the same.. I'm saying Leatherman over charges.
