Hi John and Jodi! This video is totally remarkable! I really enjoy all of your videos. Appalachian people are so geniune, fantastic, and GOD fearing! Their values and morals are simply spectacular, and their unrelenting faith and kindness are awesome. I also really appreciate how they are so very history driven and adamant about preserving history and historic structures and items. Wow!
There are both Democrats and Republicans in this video and they are all fine people that get along quite well. I know because I have lived here all my life and my family has been here since the 1750s.
John and Jodi, this is good medicine watching what you video for us, bless you and love you. ❤❤ I love small town America, this is where the real heart of honest salt of the earth people live.
Brilliant video John, wonderful god fearing people, thankyou for reaching these parts of USA we never hardly see or hear about, and I’m sure these people including yourself are the real backbone off America,I never get tired watching and learning thanks John.
Ma'am, if you read this, you should not kill those snakes. They're not gonna hurt you as long as you don't mess with them They are more scared of you than you are them. They do really good at keeping the Controlling mice and rats. And there are certain non venomous snakes that will kill venomous snakes I have hard.
Since I've been watching these videos about Kathy's store and the town, I turned around and discovered that my great grandfather lived in Walnut Cove for a while before moving his family on to Amelia county Virginia. This was 1912. He was from Cana Virginia. I'm just amazed that I have a family connection to this town. I need to visit there. Thank y'all so much!
I love these videos. I'm 62 and where I grew up across from my Grandparents that lived along the river, there was a little bitty store that sold bait, tackle, bread and a few grocery items. There was a cooler filled with water and that cooler kept the water cold and it was full of soda pop bottles that floated in that cold water. My favorite was Kayo chocolate soda pop. They were 10 cents a bottle. Me and my cousins would buy 2 or 3 bottles and take them up behind my grandparents house and sit them under a cold natural spring that flowed down off the bluff. Man those were the good old days !!
Gotta Love these video's. So glad to see that there are still families that want to keep their heritage alive and well. Just good, down to earth Godly folks.🙏🇺🇸
I really enjoy your videos showing the locally owned businesses in the small communities that are still going in 2023 and the mom and pop type businesses that i grew up with as I'm going on 59 next month, towns and stores are just like this here in Oklahoma, thank you for your videos and Thank You.🤠👍🇺🇲🇺🇲
Another fun video John and Jodi ! It's good to see these reminders of my childhood growing up in the deep south. The grain mill was interesting as was the hardware store and I would bet the service area down in the basement is even more interesting. Everybody seems to know everybody which is expected in a small town.. Hope Jodi is feeling better. I noticed several of the classic cars that I've owned before. Good times!
Grew up in Richmond County (town of Rockingham) and now in Guilford County mostly since 1977. Had friends in Walnut Cove years ago. There's no place like home, especially if it's the Tar Heel state. I hope I don't need to leave til it's time to go to heaven. 💞
yes we made a video last month in Mt Airy and we are back there again this week filming. I have a series in our play list called "A Mayberry State of Mind". I will add the link to it for it Thanks for watching. ru-vid.com/group/PLhiXVG-s0EOkc_QQDU7x5FDHR_MlBYv8x
We’ve ground a BUNCH of hog and cow feed right there in that mill. We used to go every Saturday morning. You had to get there extremely early because it would be a line of people needing to grind corn. Boy how things have changed now. We grind our own feed now but it used to be a highlight of the week because we got to see everyone else and talk. Glad to see Ronnie is still going. We hardly ever make it down to walnut cove anymore
My family is from Walnut Cove and while listening there was a mention of Dr. DeHart and the memory flooded back to my childhood visits. Haven't heard that name in years. Makes me realize I need to go back and see the old homeplace.
Nice town! I can only imagine it it it's heyday. I imagine is was a bustling town in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. Love the hardware store. I much prefer these type stores over big box stores.
Your town is awesome and when I was younger I would have loved to visit it. Now that Im older, home is where the heart is. I appreciate living close to stores that have electric carts. I don't like spideres and snakes. Give me the bright lights and the cement streets.
Enjoy the video John & Jodi. My wife & I and another couple are planning to visit Walnut Cove this coming Thursday. Thank you for the preview. Y'all be safe and God bless.
Hey y’all! I just loved watching you two looking in the shops in town there. I’m from Md, now in Pa, I went to UGA years ago and all my moms side of the family are southern folks. So I’m quite partial! Now I’m thinking I should move down there to meet everyone! Thanks so much for sharing your town and now I’m a subscriber! I need to come on down and browse around and pick up a couple trinkets! Y’all keep on making these videos…takes some of my homesickness!!
Iffen y'all take notion to visit Walnut Cove be shurn to visit "The Hillbilly Hideaway" restaurant. T'ain't a fer piece off an' the homestyle cookin will sure 'nuff fill yer belly and make ya proud. I love all of your videos, especially these small towns with so much pride in their community. I live in a small town in upstate New York and so many here were just let go and taken over by big box stores. I sure miss when our town was like this.

Hey all like this channel, my uncles their children , sure they are still there, last time I was there my Aunt Annie Sercy was still alive heard she passed in 2002 lived in Walnut Cove , they had tobacco and cotton , had their own land , after she passed never knew what happened, I am sure those living there probably knew the Searcy( Roy , John) I was surprised to find this channel ,searched Walnut Cove, simply because I was interested in land there , low and behold u guys popped up , I said let me watch this yes heritage means a lot, important to learn about others as well, this is why I like this channel, like the people there
I used to live in Walnut cove years ago. The train would come behind our home every morning. I'd be having a cup of tea and the conductor would be waving. Walnut cove is a lovely little town. When I was there they was Ingles, I think there was one laundromat, and I want to say there was a family dollar's type of store. The school was right up the street from us.I really enjoyed living there.
This is so nice. It gives me hope because the "real" America with all it's values and love of God is still out there . ❤❤ Thanks for the virtual visit, I'm going to have to come by in person ! ❤
I live in Charlotte and I've been looking for a small town that's not too far away nor too cold nor too hot and this looks like a perfect town❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I can't wait to look at properties and see if there's anything would be perfect for my two dogs and two cats and myself wanting to garden and write a few books in a town where there are nice people and no one's in a rush ❤❤
