An eager crowd flooded Richland Main Library's first-floor auditorium Friday evening for the debut of its after-hour "Meet The Author" series featuring award-winning novelist Walter Mosley.
The free event is part of Richland Library's Broader Bookshelf Reading Challenge, encouraging readers to expand their bookshelves and seek out new authors and challenging subjects. The soldout crowd sat silent as a mouse as renowned poet and Columbia native Nikky Finney guided the conversation with Mosley.
The pair, who are old friends, started the evening sharing their admiration for each other, followed by Finney asking Mosley to share his creative process when conjuring characters when writing. The evening unfolded like pages from a book as Mosley shared stories about his writing journey, childhood, creative writing process, and his newest books, Touched and Every Man a King.
