KDK hello I need to replace the barrel take down RETAINER LATCH PLUNGER and SPRING. It is warn down and the lever get stuck when i try to take the slide off . How do i replace that. How do i get the old one out ? THANKS I subed ya too.
Simply Amazing!!!!! My dad, a WW2 combat Vet who was part of the US occupation of Normandy and sat in on the Nuremberg Trials afterward took one of these off a high-ranking member of Hitler's SS. This particular P38 is Nickel and is a stunning piece of history. My dad showed me the gun once when I was in my teens and then stored it away. He never fired nor cleaned the gun. All of our fingerprints including the SS Officers are still on the gun. My father was a truly incredible human being and was loved by all. Unfortunately, he passed away from Covid a few months ago and the gun was left to me. The gun comes with a Raised Seal Certificate from the US Forces European Theater Headquarters signed by Mark W. Kingdom, Captain Inf. Commanding. The certificate is almost as impressive as the gun and it is my understanding that it gives it respectable value. Everything about the gun is listed, just too much information to list here. The original holster still looks new and has the SS officer's initials engraved in it. The wood grips are in pristine condition as is the gun. A beautiful piece of history. I guess it's time after 78 years to take it apart, clean it, and lubricate it. Just strange NOT being able to discuss it with my dad now. It is simply amazing how fast the time has gone. I love this quote from the movie Star Trek "Generations" and wanted to share it with all of you. I've got a latter P1 that I've been wanting to tear down and do a full proper cleaning on. This definitely helps. Doesn't look like there's near as many pieces on a field strip but hey, guns gotta have parts.
place lever between locked and unlocked position. Place thumb over hole to catch detent. Pull lever away from frame wiggling back and forth slightly. This part is difficult to reinstall.
