This shows the final train - The Stainmore Ltd - running from just outside Sandy Bank cutting along to Smardale then to Kirkby Stephen East. At KSE the train sets off along the Eden Valley line before cutting across to the Settle to Carlisle line at Appleby West station. 20th January 1962.

Priceless. Thank you so very much. Thank you to Mark Keefe for sharing with us this hitherto unseen record of what we have lost in the name of, er, 'progress' .. Praise be, and all due credit to the folks at Kirkby Stephen East and The Eden Valley Railway for keeping the memory alive, with best wishes for their future endeavours in reawakening this wonderful railway..
