I have a few of Wanda's LP's in my collection, mainly slow country ballads. I had no idea she ever did some Jimmie Rodgers covers.What a discovery! Just great. Many thanks for posting.
A Great Jimmie Rodgers Song. Jimmie Rodgers was the singer to combine Country Msuic and Black Blues Music. Wanda Jackson does a great job on this song.

Wanda was good, but couldn't begin to compare with Jimmie as a yodeler, not to mention Jimmie was a great songwriter !!! The FATHER of Country Music and along with Hank Williams and Fred Rose, the first 3 inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Nice stuff. She sure was pretty. I remember her in her prime and as I recall she was kind of a wild child in country music and was frowardness upon by some. I like her voice. Thanks for the post. Old Jimmy sure had some great stuff out. Another great who died way to young. My dad was an alcoholic but a nice gentle guy. He loved Jimmy Rodgers stuff ad bought old 78's when he should have been buying food for the family. Drowned when I was 2. My mom told me about him.

Oh this yodel brings back memories of my Montana youth. Had a wired thought, what if some rapper broke into a yodel riff in the middle of the rap. That would rattle some cages.

Trivia: Roots, I had a gal friend...we'd go Rodeo Roaming. She'd pack her guitar first! When we'd get to traveling; she'd sing & pick this tune & "Big Balls in Cowtown"; "I'm So Lonesome I Could Die/Cry"... and she could Yodel like a Mother! TOO! Long~legged, red~headed Cowgirl! She was Fun to hang with...thats all folks! ~♡~

I play blues harmonica (cross harp) and Jimmie Rodgers tunes plau real well. Real blues, even if it is labeled country. Interestingly, a scholarly paper on the origins of the blues puts forth the theory that the blues and country music crystallized in close to their current form in the Mississippi Delta area at about the same time, around 1900.
Wow shes a Great Blue Yodeler.I like her yodeling songs better than her hits like Right Or Wrong,Im In The Middle Of A Heartache,which were good but these are GREAT.
@SpaceCowboy641 There's a country singer; a former Grand Ol Opry member, still very much alive if long past his career peak, named Stonewall Jackson. Don't count too much on common knowledge.
