Imagine being 18 in 1984 and driving home with the windows down on a beautiful midwest summer night about 10 PM and this coming on the radio. That happened to me, and I still remember the feeling. It was otherworldly.
Bro...just watched this clip on VH1 and was thinking "Hmmm I bet the first comment i'll see on youtube about this clip will be regarding GTA Vice City's 'The Malibu Club'..." Nailed it 😆. Good Times bro...gooood times 👍
Im 53 , was 12 in 1982 when i first heard this song on 2SM Sydney radio station and recorded it on a TDK cassette on my Sony radio cassette recorder , such memories and great times
On the other side of the world in Texas, I was a 8 listening to Casey Kasem's American Top Forty on Power 104 KRBE with my finger on the record button at the end of each song in case the next one was a banger.
@bleep77 I hear you on the bittersweet nostalgia. This too is a song that illicits the pining of better times past....I'm also adding 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' and Head Over Heels - both by Tears For Fears, Glass Tiger's 'Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone, and The Smiths 'How Soon Is Now?'
I don't about you guys but this song brings me very good childhood memories of Vice City today I'm 23 and i still play it Vice City is the first badass game i ever played just like Gta San Andreas😎😎😎😎
+ClassicCinemaMC You lucky man :-) I'm a 90s earlt 2000 kids and I always ask my mom and dad how the 80s were and they both give me the same answer all the time ... awesome and nohing has come close ...
@@QEsposito510 Only people that dislike the 50's - 80's are people that are incompatible with those times, a burden. Don't start with the social justice bs, those times were fantastic.
Isn’t it crazy that the time that separates us from the release of this song (nearly 40 years) now corresponds to the time that separates the song to the era of the “dance hall days” (1940s)?
Yup. It'll be the same for "Dirty Dancing" in just a few more years. Goes to show that nostalgia is a never-ending cycle--the folks from "the good old days" were nostalgic for *their* good old days.
Any one in 2024 with full of nostalgia vibes ,✌️🫰🥹, god I love Vice City game, that drove my childhood 😭❤️, god knows why old songs are sooo good !!! If you reading this , 'you are a beautiful person' :)
I was never really a Wang Chung fan as a kid growing up in the 80s, but this song is overwhelmingly nostalgic to me now. It takes me back a simpler time when our days were more care free.
I was born in 95. I heard this on the radio in a video game. It does the same to me. The point of the game was to shoot and rob but I'd just pick a car and drive around listening to the radio. I was a tween then in the mid 2000s and had my whole life. Now Im 30 and it feels I've run out of road
I used to work at a pet store and sometimes we’d have the 80s station on. Me and my friend Sean would hear this song sometimes and wonder what the hell the lyrics were. He died a few years back, not even 30. Now whenever this (or a few other songs) pop up, I think of him. Rest in peace buddy
+bearded yeti Ummmm. You're looking at history through rose colored glasses. Cocaine Cowboys in Miami, Bloods & Crips in LA. AIDS hit the news. War in Grenada, Afghani Civil War..Look it wasn't all bad and I'm a child of the 80's but to say the 80's were peaceful is a bit of a nostalgic stretch. Glad you have good memories of it though..Hold on to those.
*Lyrics* Take your baby by the hand And make her do a high handstand And take your baby by the heel And do the next thing that you feel We were so in phase In our dance hall days We were cool on craze When I, you, and everyone we knew Could believe, do, and share in what was true Oh, I said Dance hall days love Take your baby by the hair And pull her close and there, there, there And take your baby by the ears And play upon her darkest fears We were so in phase In our dance hall days We were cool on craze When I, you, and everyone we knew Could believe, do, and share in what was true Oh, I said Dance hall days love Dance hall days Dance hall days love Take your baby by the wrist And in her mouth an amethyst And in her eyes two sapphires blue And you need her and she needs you And you need her and she needs you And you need her and she needs you And you need her and she needs you And you need her and she needs you We were so in phase In our dance hall days We were cool on craze When I, you, and everyone we knew Could believe, do, and share in what was true Oh, I said Dance hall days love Dance hall days love Dance hall days Dance hall days love Dance hall days Dance hall days love Dance hall days Dance hall days love
@@savethezombies ..not one of my favourites. But there is Ice House, Simple Minds, Noiseworks, Midnight Oil, tracks like Pump Up The Volume - Marrs, Iron Maiden, Metallica, .....
This is probably one of the best examples of a music video produced during the golden age of music video. It plays to the strengths of the format - the group is well represented and the visuals are fascinating and it's definitely greater than the sum of its parts. Well done Wang Chung et al - this is a masterpiece.
i remember when that game came out, fukin hell, there was such high expectations and it sold out around here so quickly. i remember me and my friends in school drooling over sneak peak screenshots of vice city in the magazines before it was released, they were good times lol
My dad showed me this song when I was in elementary school. Still listening to it today as I’m about to graduate college in May. As time flies, great music will stay
*Radio Host Voice* "Goooooood Morning, Vice Cityyy. Sun is up, waves are high, and things have been getting crazy out there. Makes you miss of the good ol days, just like this next hit from the 80s. Stay safe everyone." *plays dance hall days*
I watched The Idea of you and heard this song after many years .. being in my 50s brings back memories . Loved it then and love it now …. Loved The Idea of you .. as an older woman in the same situation .. I was 11 yrs older . Madly in love and connected
Moments like these are why I keep coming back to RU-vid, depsite the horrible fighting between complete strangers. I don't even know why but i had this song just pop into my head today. It reminds me of much happier days. Thank you to the person who kindly posted it, I appreciate it very much.
The best decade for growing up as a kid and teen,I had a very happy childhood thanks dad and everyone at Sant Anthony village high school, go big blue!
I am SO Happy to have lived my childhood in the 80s. LIVING those E.T. moments while riding my BMX searching for the next adventure. You might love STRANGER THINGS, but I lived it!
December 1986- My friends and I read in a alternative/wave magazine that Wang Chung would be performing at Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, Co in Jan. 1987. We make the trek by car 125 miles from Sterling Co to Denver in a snow storm that was quickly turning worse. We get to Rainbow Music Hall to find out that the concert was canceled due to weather. We had called that morning and all was fine. We ended up eating at Wendy's and driving for five hours back to Sterling which would have normally taken two hours in good weather. That's my Wang Chung story.
Мне 33 года и это просто шедевр музыки, вспоминаю как ночи напролёт играл в GTA vice city и слушал по радио песни такого жанра и особенно клуб Малибу запомнился😊
With the opening notes of this song, I'm mentally transported to the city pool when I was kid - hearing this song playing over the radio as we splashed around, blissfully unaware of the future...
Not Rhythm... No Melody: The Death of Melody ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K0Vn9V-tRCo.html The beats today are fine...but the ear does not live by beats alone (-:
takes me back to the 80s instantly. I feel so old the amount of people goin on about a play station game here like it's a legendry game, wen this sing come out spectrum an commodore 16 was the new thing lol
I was about 3 when this song came out but I did play a games console and it had 4 bit sound quality I used to play Astrosmash and battle tanks on the intellivision back then so old school it had a wood effect finish.
anyone wanna go down to the malibu club, have a beer and making new friends, aswell as dance with bikers, construction workers, soldiers and police officers?
It was a dark winter evening in 1984 on a train going through the green English countryside on my way back to London i remember listening to this on my Walkman. While I listened to this i stared out the window there was something almost mystical about the dark forests and green fields rushing past my window. (Walkman = olden days version of the ipod. Info for those born after the 80's. )
Born in 81. But remembered alot of the quality time we had in the 80s. Pure authentic times ! No cellphones no Internet. Golden period. Build me a time machine and i will be gone! 😅
I'm not following you. You bought a kit, but then you made it at the store? Please explain yourself. If you refuse to explain yourself, penalties will be created and enforced.
I swear the 80s was a time to be alive. Got damn!! Wish I was born before this time to be around this era of music. The lively music, parties, women, and not worrying about stds. Just my honest opinion and what I was told. Haters will say different but from what I was told, it was a time of being alive and crazy.. in a good wholesome way.
This played all the time on the French radio, over and over again that summer. I was 7, and it was the back ground music of bliss on our way to the beach in my mum's car. Time capsule!
JerseyMark that’s your issue, this comment is a complaint! My mother is a big influence in my taste of music! No need to feel old, you’re lucky to have experienced such an awesome time ✨
Graduated high school in 1989. I can testify the 80s music scene was amazing! From new wave to hair metal to punk rock, and everything in between. Now my 14 yr old daughter loves listening to almost everything from when I was her age!
