I have watched a ton of your videos and I just wanted to say that your playing is fantastic. I usually end up here to see a gear review and watch the whole video just to hear you play. Keep up the great work man!
Thanks for the demo. I just ordered one of these abt a week ago and now I'm itching for it to get here. thank you for demo ing it with a broad range of musical atyles and without any other effects.
Thanks man, this is exactly the kind of demo i wanted to hear before investing in this little beast. Looks like the perfect Minimalist setup for travel and will fit right on my Board.
Sounds like a good amp to be fair. I think a lot of people underestimate 1 watt of power in a valve amp. I own a Laney Lionheart L5 Studio and f*ck, 5 watts is too loud for home use. In fact at home I mainly use it on the 0.5 watt setting and that's still pretty loud 😆 I see guitarists buy valve amps so they can get 'THAT' sound, and they go out and buy a 20-30 watt valve amp and put it in their bedrooms, and then are never get to turn up the volume past 2, thus never able to get 'THAT' sound and then have to stick a distortion pedal in their amp to achieve break up sounds. It's ridiculous, overkill, and a waste of money. 1 watt of valve amp is all you need for home use, and even then it'll be very loud.
Ive got a tube amp with a 1 watt setting and a 5 watt. Doesn't sound like a lot of power, but 1 watt gets loud. Loud enough to annoy my wife! Ha ha! She'll get over it! Lol😂🎸🎶
The important question: why is your Lava Lamp not turned on? I mean, seriously dude, do you even Musician? : ) Awesome breakdown of this amp. Great demo vid and playing. So this little amp seems quite quiet for recording at low volume. I can't hear any hum or general buzz. That's important! I think I most enjoy the sound at 3:45 with the tone all the way counter-clockwise. Sounds quite useable.
I'd have to disagree with you there. www.bestamp-guitar.com/e_productshow/?1273-Mini-Tube-Amp-5W-1273.html Same amps, cheaper price, older company. You do the math.
@@mC_DiDiDiDiDi You sir are an idiot.... Here is wangs manufacturing video. Grand are just an OEM and friends of Biyang...good lord, I never saw anyone do so much incorrect research. I found this video in 5 seconds. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dd2vCVBya6A.html
That Beast of Burden lick sounded so good that I may buy one just to play that one song. Any guesses how loud this guy may be with a single 8" speaker in an open cabinet? (Old Dean Markley practice amp that I pulled the head from)
hey Matt..was wondering how the little amp is still doing? I'm considering it seriously. also..did you upgrade the stock tubes for this vid ? have you swapped any yet ? suggestions? thx in advance brother
Hey George, this little sucker is still performing great! For the video, everything was totally stock, and that's how I've kept it -- it makes a killer practice amp, and with a big enough cab you could gig this thing easily. I may toss a 12at7 in V1 soon to see if I can lower the gain a bit...when I do it I'll report back and let you know what I think!
There are quite a few ways to corner cut when assembling any kind of audio gear.. good quality brands of electronics components is enormously important to not only the sound but longevity of the circuit boards since an amp will go through a lot of heat cycles in its life For quality sound a good manufacturer will test pairs of components and match them up for each amp which takes time and therefore money Just something to keep in mind when shopping at the lower end of the price range There are definitely savings to be had though outside the big name manufacturers
@@daveshaw9344 I agree man, but it's easy enough to select better capacitors, an amp like this, if it uses cheap crap caps which it probably does, I'd change em out with panasonic fm or fc series caps and if mouser doesn't have everything i need with the fm or fc series, id go for some nichicon uhe or uhw and call it a day lmao. It sounds good enough that it is worth it. Those 4 capacitor series from both of those brands are the best around period in terms of low impedance and low esr ratings, high ripple current handling ratings, high temperature handling and long life, can't do much better then those lmao. I bet it would make this amp sound even better then it already does, it's always intereating to hear a well designd amp, but with far better passive components.
It definitely can work with a 4x12, and it'll be louder than you'd expect. I used a 2x12 cab for this demo and honestly, when the amp was cranked it was almost uncomfortably loud in the room.
Ever try to get cranked amp tone out of a non-master volume 30, 50, or 100 watt tube amp? unless you're outdoors or in a big room; by the time it gets to where you want it, it's painfully loud. With 1 watt, you can record or practice at a volume that might still irritate your family and neighbors but won't have the cops called.
Interesting. I'm always down for intelligent discussion here with evidence to support it -- where did you get your info? I'd love to check it out for myself, because if there are questions or truth to it I'd like to let the viewers know. Thanks.
You can get them from Shenzhen Grand Musical Instruments Co, and they will come brandless. In fact, they come in a Wang's box with the 'Wangs' branding actually cut out of the packaging with a box knife, for real. Why? - because the Wang's story is slapped on them by an American importer. So, as for the whole Wang's back story, nah, I believe they just come cheaply mass produced like all the other brandless amps on their site. I can send you a pic of the box mine came in if you don't believe it. Qudos to them importing them in bulk and selling them for cheap, but it's nothing new. And in fact, unless the company can prove their origin otherwise, they might well be completely falsly advertising their product. I am dubious about it. Google "grand music shenzhen 1 watt amp", 4th search result down the page.
Thanks for the detailed info man -- I'm gonna look into it today when I get home and we can continue this conversation. I do think that if what you're saying is true, I owe my subscribers an updated video.
