am a luo, but this song reminds me of Kitale, when working @ Gigamart Khetia's, Nyayo market was blazing with kutaling'i, oriyoo bana befwee...kamabeka sawasawa.
Pure litungu,was playing this song loud in my car around a certain supermaket and every soldier within that vicinty came close wakitingisha kamabeka until everything came to a stand still,the rest is history!
this is bukusu ( a luhyia sub-ethnic) music. Like a lot of luhyia and possibly kenyan music its about the great leaders and encouraging everybody to follow their example. In this particular they are paying homage to the lates Wamalwa Kijana and Masinde Muliro there is also mention of current political leaders like Asikari Kombo, Mukhisa Kituyi, Noah Wekesa, Wakoli, Kulundu etc and are all hailed as lions(kutalan'gi).
