I remember when my cousin dropped the tailgate and drove his monster beetle off the back of his truck and that got me into RC on 50-years-old now and it was like 35 years ago thanks for all that you do😊
I'm glad to see there are still kits around. I got started in this hobby when there were only kits, a rolling chassis and you supply the engine and radio. I got started with a Team Associated 500. That should tell you how long ago. About 1983.
Building a Tamiya Blackfoot in the 90s with my dad was my first kit, and what got me into RC. Now I'm in the market for a kit to build with my daughter.
I recently built my first kit a TLR 22.5 Elite 2wd buggy. Having a blast learning how to set it up and drive it. The quality on this is crazy compared with the RTRs I own. Great video, thanks!!!
TEKNO MT 410. Great build, great kit! 8th scale power! If you want a kit and an independent suspension monster truck, get this kit! You pick electronic and tires, wheels, body. Its a beast!
I built the tekno eb48.4 and took me 60 hours my first build and well I still haven’t got it too drive because of the battery, it is expensive but I loved building it it is a good build I feel
Great video i just built the trx4 chassis kit it is a very easy build. I'm going to recreate my old 4runner with a roll cage and cut off roof with that kit. I wish there were more kits available they are not that hard to build and they really help people learn how to work on these.
@@Shadows-RC yeah that's the biggest drawback of Tamiya kits, that's is also the reason why l've look for optional parts, I had a Terra Scorcher, in which I know where parts of it are prone for breaking, luckily I able to replace them with alloy parts, I forgot the brand, but I buy it online,
Eh, they've got some stiff competition from Schumacher now in that regard. What Tamiya is unmatched at, though, is the shear variety of vehicles they have.
Yes I just built my Lc Racing EMB-TGHK-Pro Kit last week, it is absolutely an asbolute pleasure. This was my first kit and I loved it. I am waiting for a receiver and transmitter to test it. But the build is fantastic.
I gotta drop a recommendation for the LC Racing EMB series kits - EMB-1 (buggy), EMB-T (truggy), there's also a short course truck, desert buggy, and rally car though the last 3 don't have kit versions. I built the EMB-T recently and it's amazing. 1/12th scale, probably cracks about 30mph out of the box on 2s, it's a race chassis so you can tweak a bunch of stuff, and it's still a blast to just drive around. It's really a rocket. I think you reviewed one of them, and it was a great build. Probably not a beginner build as the instructions are well done pictorials but a few spots could really use some explanation that isn't there and I had to use my prior experience a bit.
No kidding! I think that's the TLR Eight 4wd buggy! I did put heavier shock oil, buggy tires, cheap Amazon super fast servo and hooked up my DX5C remote. It is fun on a dirt track. For a single mod go for the remote to my Typhon. Fine tuning the steering speed made a huge difference. Probably too much info but I love that Typhon and it's really a bargain
I love all of those built 8/10 of them I think 2 of my favorites are the MST CFX-W kit and the Team Associated B64 club racer kit were my favorite also the Dr10 drag kit is a fun ☝️
My first build was a traxxas stampede and now just finishing up a tamiya tt02 type s with a 3rd party rs500 shell. The stampede was an easy first kit with the tt02 being a little more fiddly but still enjoyable to build.
Give a Schumacher a try for your next one. They're a real joy to build, everything's packaged by step and they even come with lubricants, threadlocker and silicone fluids for the shocks and diff. You'll have to supply your own running gear but that's normal for most kits.
@@VestedUTuber since writing that comment, I have done a kyosho turbo optima. The chassis is really well crafted but it being a belt drive instead of shaft is a little confusing. The shell doesn't match the quality of the chassis and the instructions weren't as good as the tamiya or traxxas.
Kinda surprised there's nothing from Schumacher on here. Schumacher makes some amazing kits, especially with how they're packaged. You don't need a single thing apart from running gear to complete them, everything's bagged by step and the instructions are some of the best I've seen.
I know this might be really stupid question but, is there an existing "plug and play" style RC system similar to that of the lego power functions system were you can stack motor plugs to the same output? I was hoping there was such a thing so I can do some experiments with larger lego RC builds with motors and servo that will last longer than legos own ones
Is it worth to change to lipo? I have an issue with the battery my stampede came with, it only last 5 minutes when fully charge on training mode, about 3 minutes on default sport mode. I bought it 2 days ago
You often mention that you have to supply the electronics and stuff, but how do you know what to buy to make them complete, sorry for the noob question, great video!
@@loum7008 we both think on it👍 for me assemble a RC kit makes you a better understanding of it, and in case of breaking you know where to remove or put a diagnostic on your car
I like the mini b pro roller kit and the typing tlr, I've not built one yet tho. I have 2 mini b, 2 vorteks 3s and a outcast 6s right now. Just got into the hobby again month ago. Next is crawler for me I think.
I'm new to the rc build (i never done it before). I want to build a gas powered rc muscle car. I'm not that good at model cars, but i can figure this out...I think. Any suggestions?
Hey rc world ! I’m new to the hobby and yet to make a purchase on my first basher since that’s where I want to start (bashing) . I was thinking rustler / vorteks / or Bigfoot as my first . Any opinions would help . Thaanks
Cool kits, I just did a Traxxas Stampede 4X4 kit and ungraded to VXL electronics from the start..I think I'm hooked in kits, it was a ton of fun..can't wait to get another. Great vid👍
I need some help guysi recently purchased a redcat racing shockwave nitro rc and I'mhaving trouble tuning it,,its my first nitro rc!! Any help would be awesome! Thanks and great channel with awesome content!!🤘✌
I think I would have added a TT-02 kit, simply because they are so cheap that you can afford to mess it up while learning to work on them. Just wish Axial would make a rally car as I've enjoyed building their previous kits, simply because the other crawler stuff simply don't have the same mass appeal that rally does.
Too many crawlers/trucks. Someone just getting into the hobby will get bored to tears driving a crawler. In my opinion, more people will want speed and agility. Buggies!! Wooo!!! I'd take one of those over a crawler/trail truck any day!
Ah man, I can’t agree with this more. I just got into the hobby and people don’t care about driving as slow as possible. Maybe AFTER they get into the hobby and learn about the parts involved then sure. But i don’t know anyone who wants an RC car to drive over rocks lol
That's what's great about this hobby there is versatility I got a slash 4x4 lcg and Trx-4 both are fun and both get used a lot and I'm new to the hobby so ...
You're so wrong. I am just into rc and building my first car at the moment. And guess what is it? Yes, a crawler. TRX-4 Sport. I'm not interested in high speed. Not even as a driver. The crawling is more about consideration, choosing lines, to think where you're going. So not everybody is obsessed with speed.
No Tekno, no Schumacher, no XRay, no Kyosho, no Yokomo, no Serpent, no JQ, no RC4WD... not even Associated. I get the feeling that money was involved in this video.
They forgot a lot of brands. Also, note that the brands they forgot aren't major players in the US market. I get the feeling there's some money involved here.
This was great video but went online to order slasher truck and needed other items started to look and I'm done I don't know what to get what things mean I see why more people are not into this hobbies are supposed to be fun not spending tons of time reading online wondering if that's the right stuff lol not for me after thought the industry is just not inviting for new people kits 100% would be good to learn and understand things
Yes Tamiya looks great and fun but the quality is very poor. No hex screws, too much (rigid) plastic all around. They need to update the quality components to what most cars today..
Tamiya is in its own niche when it comes to RC. They primarily cater to tinkerers, collectors and first-time kit builders, people who aren't going to run their cars that hard. For those people, ABS plastic is fine, there's no need for the nylon composites used on other cars. The hardest most Tamiya owners will run their cars would be in vintage-class racing with a 17.5T or 13.5T sensored motor and on 2S, in a controlled manner on clay, carpet or hard-packed dirt.
I saw "Horizon" and legit almost clicked off the video. I use to collect trains when I was younger, most of my collection being Athearn (Horizon)...let's just say, my wallet LOATHS the company, but in terms of RC, I've seen deals that put those trains so shame with Horizon.
