My local library is developing a book binding equipment box for free use at their Makerspace - I highly recommend checking out your local libraries if you can’t afford equipment or just want to give it a try without spending a lot of money first ❤️

I am definitely interested in bookbinding. I got all of the basic things: book board, needle, awl, punch guide (really cute one I got off etsy), self-healing mat...I even printed and glued together a text block and recently got it trimmed at Office Depot but I just gotta build the hardcover

If your printer doesnt print on both sides, you can print out all the odd pages first, reverse the paper and then print all the even pages. You just have to be a bit thoughtful about how you flip the paper and how the numbers line up, but I’ve done it for a number of english essays and it works very well!

Just in case people aren't clear, bone folders are often made out of bone, they will generally specify when it’s a different material, just something to keep an eye out for.

i book bind! except i do like a ghetto fabulous version. balling on a budget and make notebooks and sketchbooks so far. def wanna rebind stuff and bind books and maybe my own short story collection eventually but yeah lovely vid!

I'm hoping to do my first rebind before the end of the month or early October! This video is making me feel motivated to take stock of what I already have and what I still need, so thanks! I'm hoping this hobby will help me cope with book box FOMO lol 😂 I cancelled my FL subs bc I just wasn't liking their picks anymore (and their skip policy is the worst), but every once in a while, they do a book I'm really excited for, so it'd be great to eventually get to a point where I prefer my own handmade special editions over theirs lmao 🤞🤞 I am also collating fanfics to bind, but I'm not in a rush to get to those, I think I wanna start with rebinds
