I'm surprised that Billybob didn't wreck and/or kill someone. I went there once on my motorcycle. I have zero desire to ever go back to the dragon. It's just way too dangerous. You see morons like Billybob, like in this video, coming at you head on in your lane. I might have been there for 3 hours. In that time, there were 2 crashes. Not a great place to visit on a motorcycle.
That truck driver should be in jail for driving like that. We Went up 2 weeks ago and rented an AirBNB right next to the hotel and killboy shop. I had a great experience personally. The early morning runs weren't crowded at all, and people were being very courteous in the afternoons. Only did one run out of like 14 where we got stuck behind someone and they didnt immediately pull off to let us pass, and even then they still did eventually. Also, I got to see some sick cars, multiple GT3 RS and ferraris, and someone even brought out a damn Carrera GT.
I feel like there needs to be a sign on both ends of the dragon that mention not crossing the double yellows and pulling over to let faster traffic pass. I feel like too many people that go there don't understand the etiquette and I think a sign might help some of them. I've been there a couple of times and I agree with what others are saying, get on the dragon at sunrise, especially on weekdays but also even on weekends being that early you'll be pretty much by yourself. When traffic starts picking up start doing some of the other routes around it.
Yea, that is the worst part about riding the tail. Drivers like that. I can understand a tiny dip or tires on yellow, but if you are starting to do that, you are going to fast for you skill level. Its honestly difficult for riders too, its very unforgiving, and you have to both have a decent riding level and confidence in your ability.
We used the dragon to cut across as a short cut to my sisters house once. After 5 minutes your pretty much done. It may be the single most unpleasant driving experience in the US. Many of my riding friends wanted to do it, but I told them I'll never drive that nonsense ever again... and I was in a car... I imagine a bike would be so much worse. This clip is what the Dragon is like for 50+ miles. It took us almost 4 hours to get off of it. It's heavily patrolled. You will end up behind someone who is scared out of their minds, and go 10 mph. You will have insane people like this truck. You will see squids trying to commit suicide. Maybe back in the day before the road was known it was fun.. but it's horrible now.
Racing lines on a track…not here on a public road. Can’t stay in your lane slow down or get the phuck off a road like this you have no need being there.
If you can't stay in your lane, slow down. Why so many can't understand that is beyond me. On another note, if you watch videos of Europeans drive (more so in car reviews) you will see them cross lane lines all the time. Want to impress me with your "driving skills"? STAY IN YOUR LANE. Cheers.
quit your pearl clutching. for essentially all the left hand turns, you can see the entire turn. no problem to cut what you can see. but his driving is dangerous.... and you wanting to go for a rip above the speed limit isnt.... ironically he was probably having more fun. drive a slow car fast
