"War On The Doorstep" is a 1 hour long, 2NURFM produced documentary about the night Newcastle was shelled by a Japanese Submarine on the 8th of June, 1942, after it was involved in the attack on Sydney Harbour. Includes the people who were there that night telling the story of what happened.
“War on the Doorstep” was produced and narrated by Martin Hadlow, an ex-BBC radio producer and announcer who was then the station manager of 2NUR-FM. He was a dedicated amateur war historian and later set up the radio network on the Solomon Islands, where he continued his research into the WW2 history of the region.
