First off sorry for the lack of air content. This is actually my first Air RB matches since September before the move. I thought it would be a good time to take out something we have never played before. The I-301. The plane is very similar and plays very similar to a Lagg except for one difference. Guns, lots of guns.

The "flying in threes" thing was actually a major problem the RAF faced. Their basic unit was three planes, which meant somebody was always left without a wingman. The germans flew with a basic unit of 2+2, a far superior setup. Took the RAF quite some time to get that changed and it cost them a _lot_ of planes and pilots in the battle of britain.

When this thing first released its BR was 2.3 in arcade. It was still mostly facing Bi-Planes. Even with it's elevated BR it's still a beast but back then it was just an absolute monster.

I remember my first encounter against that plane. A squad, obviously on voice, dropped into an arcade dominance match. Their co-ordination and experience was overwhelming. Seal clubbing on steroids. At the time I was pretty miffed at them and their planes especially after I found out there was no way for me to get one. Now, after some time and skills building, they are not as intimidating but you certainly won't catch me on purpose posing and waiting for the flash if one of those things is pointing at me .

I got it and flew it all the time in a single crew slot. When I started doing tanks, that crew had 86k crew points. Eventually I put my T-34-100 in that slot. When boats dropped- I had 102k crew points waiting... I have one bad ass russian boat crew in that slot now. All because that I-301

@@57thorns Not exactly. Being a prototype it was assembled by a considerably more skilled workers than the serial model would be. It was also given polish treatment which earned it nickname "Grand piano". All that saved weight and improved flight characteristics but in production sacrifices had to be made to save performance - gun mounts were omitted; that particular 23mm cannon never became reliable enough, it also tended to damage the engine block with its recoil and so it was substituted with 20mm ShVAK. The whole issue however was caused by the fact that the plane was designed to have a more powerful engine which like the cannon never made it into production.

BTW, was playing the Grant with your decal on the front, must be extra armor because it bounced a shot. Corrupted the screen shot so I don't have that to send. Great video here, hope the new house transition is going well. Takes time, did that 6 years ago. o7
