Hey guys, we're looking at the good old Dewoitine D.520 today, but we're doing it in the French tree where it belongs ;) A Super Solid performer that is absolutely decent ;) Hope you enjoy! dont forget to like, comment, watch till the end and subscribe, if you enjoyed the content. Have a great Sunday!
Jengar the MB157 with the 2 hispanos is wrong, Gaijin missed to add to the model the 4X 7.5mm mg’s. The French MB155 who fought during ww2 had already that weaponry load.
i been unlocking all the planes with just a breda 88 tailsman only got one plane to unlock to grind the p108b in rank 4 ...probelly take another 40 games to access rank 4 on the cheap
Panzerblitz1 the 157 is a beast in arcade, but even there the reload time and low ammo mean you need discipline. in rb its going to be a nightmare. I hope they do add mgs for rb sake. Fortunately other than ammo it's a very solid plane.
Nice review Jengar, I've had this plane in my British tree for quite some time, and found it to be exactly like you said: jack of all trades, master of none. I'm hoping that the matchmaker calms down a bit, I want to fly something other than the SO.8000, especially since I've unlocked and purchased so many planes already!
I love her! What also is nice is that is tier III, while the British premium variant is tier II. So you can do tier III battle tasks on a BR of only 2.7!
Hey Jengar, great vid! The D.520 is BR 3.0 in arcade and it takes a bit of discipline at that BR. Its a bit slow as everything can catch/out run it. Enjoyed flying it out but quickly realised you have to be a bit careful!
The MB157 is the plane you were talking about with the 2 cannons without machine guns. The Potez 630 has the same armament too. I saw a post on War Thunder live and the guy had his request sent to the developers. The request was to change the armament of the MB157 to have machine guns and cannons. The developers said that they would take a look. So we may be getting machine guns on the MB157. I couldn't find the original forum post, but here is a similar one that gives the same idea. forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/387378-mb157/
I found your previous review from a year ago a bit more of an honest take on this plane. Also you were unlocking the leo not the 157 . According what you show you already have the 157 unlocked. Last plane on the list. I will stick with the vg33 better plane lower ranking. The 520 should be 2.3 compared to the vg33 then 2.0
a year can do a lot to a pilot, and to a reviewer. I would say this current review is no less honest then the last one! And when i started flying the D.520 i was indeed unlocking the mb157, when i got my footage i had unlocked it and was working on the LeO. Sometimes things are pretty simple.
How is matchmaking when you activate boosters? I played Bf 109 K-4, activated a 150+ SilverLion Booster, got a match and when i climbed all my way down all enemie planes were dead... srsly, if i dive next time, ill die because there are dudes above me and ill get nothing as well. What to do??
I know you asked our friend Jengar, but I'll try to give the same answer he would. I use them. I think the extra firepower is well worth the slight performance hit. Now that is because I use the Bf-109F/G/K as BnZers. So my targets are in my sights for brief periods - split seconds - and I'm not an expert marksman like Jengar, thus I need to put as much lead in the air as quickly as I can because not every round I fire will it and I have only a brief moment to finish them. This also applies when I employ energy tactics. If you plan to use the plane for dogfighting, which you shouldn't, then you should not use the gun pods because you'll need every bit of performance to survive. Plus, you'll be engaging at short ranges so your 20mm and MGs should kill most targets quickly. There are some who don't need the pods because they're really good shots and the extra guns will not make a difference. For those of us with lesser skills, I recommend the gun pods.
Personally i would always choose for the performance. Gunpods inpede the performance, so i would leave them off. But like julian said, its perfonal preference, is firepower more important for you then performance, or vice versa.
Are you part of Warthunder's program for creators? You can ask them those i think. :D New players will surely be hype when they see a rare plane huehuehuehue
Well... I'm a bad pilot, still fighting my way to be decent, but even with that skill gap I feel that the D520 is just bad. I know that some pilots like you, Jengar, can easily fly this plane with one hand but, in my opinion, it is just a downgrade on the line... The VG33C-1 feels great, the MS410 is very competitive even on BR+1 and they both try to fill the same role (Jack of all trades) and their performance is way better. At least for the eyes of a noob pilot.
the dewoitine is a fine plane, and will not let you down when you get to know it. it needs to be there of course as a classic french plane, but you should fly what you enjoy of course. the vg33c-1 is more forgiving thats for sure! :)
Shaped ugly for almost all and more FrenchFaircraft has low-ammo , especially for the arcade needs power and agile! For Gaiji I really don't understand that why wants to realse the French tree, when I see these copy American planes , I got key ,because all reasons for Benefits !!
Ugly? No, but that's subjective. The models are great though. The power and agility at the BR are not problematic at all. Particularly this plane, as it's been in game for a long time, is pretty well balanced. Cannon ammo count is low, I suggest working on firing discipline.
