Shortly before the events of Cataclysm, an exiled noble had retaken Durnholde Keep and its surrounding area, declaring himself de facto King of Lordaeron as told in the preceding campaign Lordaeron's Legacy. After retaking a slice of the former Kingdom he has now styled himself as King Candor, a move which has proven unpopular with many in the Alliance. In this period of great unrest there are many heroes and villains trying to survive, claim power, or just do what they believe is right.

Hey Jay! Another great video with some great points! I'm sad you didn't explore more of the Scarlet Crusade before doing the Side Quest as each group has a little dialogue before they turn hostile but alas, it's always good seeing how people explore maps and play them. You raise a great point, that bridge can definitely be widened, it does mean its easy for the player to defend from the other side but conversely makes pushing a lot harder. In terms of the enemy base I also think I could probably tune it down a little bit, you do have mortars with flare to scout and see what you're dealing with but I think it might be a bit much for the first base mission. I might up the gold a little but not by much as when it comes to difficulty with base missions, it has to come from somewhere and one way is through resource scarcity which is the intention for this mission: a kind of invisible timer. That said I think you're right in saying the mission could be slightly more forgiving so I'll definitely take that on board if I ever get back round to updating it. Also oh god, the AI voice acting, the more I hear it back the more I wish I'd taken more time with it, I've definitely gotten better with it and so hopefully at some point I can re-do a lot of them... I always knew I wanted to redo the Field Marshall but some of the others are also pretty rough lol. I will say that I consider the next mission to be one of the best I've ever made so I hope you enjoy it a lot! Thanks and keep on being awesome, Footman16

If you want to make the map have few resources maybe give the player a heads up? "Not a lot of resources around so we should make this quick" kind of thing. Usually id say wc3 maps allow some expansion, so a player will expect another source of income by default i think

Most WC3 macro maps allow you to take an expansion, so players will naturally assume they are going to be able to do that. I personally was expecting a second gold mine in either the Scarlet Crusade's base or the allied base. Low income maps are fine but hidden timers still need to be communicated to the player. Even a simple line like "scouts report this is the only gold mine in this area" can go a long way in prepping players.

This mission for me is one of those where the longer you wait the harder it gets and it took me 2 tries because i didn't realise that there were no extra gold mines. And on my skill level it was impossible for me to push through the base without the optional quest reward lmao i just spammed as it had like 6 second cooldown. Also you can pull the scarlet hero without his support knights making the fight quicker and imo spell breakers are better than footmen here as they can fight better on the bridge and they get damage buff from trueshot aura from the flute

Hello Jayborino, I've been watching your videos for almost 2 years, even though I know your channel has been going on for much longer. Glad to see you still constantly posting videos even after your "I am old" channel update. As of writing this post, it is the first of June, and something that I never got round to telling you is that Starship Troopers Terran Command will be releasing a second DLC called "Urban Onslaught" this month, with new units and gameplay mechanics. If you still have the game, do add it to your wishlist if you are interested. You can expect the arrival of newer units, like more vehicles apart from the existing marauders (including aerial vehicles, something not seen in the previous two games) and possibly stronger and more bizarre scorpion and immolator variants. I would also suggest you try out the challenge missions for the previous two games as they also offer more unique scenarios and gameplay, like chemical troopers (Something also not used in the previous two games), playing "dodge the plasma" with plasma bugs and grenadiers, and even going all out with powered suit incinerators (Only used at the very end of the final Gehena DLC mission). Looking forward to more videos, and best of luck in whatever you choose to play! (P.S. Sorry to tell you this in a comment on a video of a totally different game, but I didn't know of a better way to inform you about it.)

Haha it definitely helps, also Jay is right to point out Candor's hypocrisy his whole "I don't need anyone else" routine is part of his character that will be challenged in the missions to come :)

I think Anti-Magic Shell can be dispelled actually but I'm not entirely sure how it works. Last time I played the final TFT mission the Couatl would dispel it on Arthas/Anub'Arak but according to Grubby now it works like a separate unit that takes magic damage for you and after it falls it just disappears. Edit: Hmm I think there are two different issues with the mission that could be solved with just one change (or two depending on how you look at it): make the first section of the enemy base a separate one and get it its own Gold Mine, so you can conquer it earlier without having the flood of Undead from the main base and also get extra resources. Sort of like you can do in the last Sylvanas mission from the campaign, where you cross a bridge, take a small Orange base immediately and then deal with the bigger Orange base.

A doozy, this one(extra gold in existing mine, an ally once irralion is dealt with or just a new gold mine at said guy's location would've been useful). Btw, nice modifications of satyr and demon hunter base models. There was a really funny moment on the murloc camp demolition portion, where closed captions thought candor says "gundam down" instead of "cut them down".

You need to train spell breakers to help deal with curse and such. Also, you had a Arcane vault...why did you not sell some rings of protection???? you had so many of them.

Oooof this mission really needed a second gold mine, or at least a lot more gold in the original one. You are fighting a much bigger enemy with higher tier units with lower tier stuff, you are going to need more money to account for that. And yeah I really don't see how you are expected to win without getting that scepter - that side quest might as well be a main quest. I more or less agree with all the suggestions about how the map can be improved. But imo the real killer were the enemy Banshees and Curse and to a lesser extent Cripple. Your army was taking way too long to kill things because they kept missing from Curse, giving more time for the enemy to produce stuff including Banshees which makes them take even longer to kill stuff. More Spellbreakers instead of Footmen would have done the job, or alternatively turn of the Healing autocast for Priests and use them for Dispel, since you already got the Scepter for healing.

I'm sure it is possible, but I imagine you need full map knowledge to do so and would want to sit in No Upkeep for an artificially long time.

I think that towers are more of a psychological obstacle than a physical threat. They have about as much damage as rifleman (and I mean spirit tower, nerubian towers are pitiful). Sometimes you have to ignore them

The issue isn't the towers themselves but more of how they trigger the enemy AI. Attacking the outlying towers makes the enemy AI believe its main base is under attack, which causes it to send everything it has against you and continually produce units. And the enemy AI won't stop doing this until either the player stops attacking or all of its buildings in that area is destroyed. Which is why Jay was talking about making the outlying towers be a different enemy "player" from that of the main base, so attacking those towers won't trigger the main enemy AI.

@@emilchan5379 That's two different issues. The issue you are talking about is that AI send a neverending stream of units to fight Jay when he tries to clear the towers. This would be fixed by separating AI forces into two players. What I am talking about is that when most w3 players see towers (me included), they will try to outrange them, even when it is not a good idea it this specific situation. Sometimes diving the tower is a correct solution, but it seems like a waste when you could try destroying them from afar. It's why raiders are undervalued

Jay, big fan. But u should watch some pro 1v 1 to see why he lost so much gold value. Too many footman , better go with few spell brakes and more rifles. So much curse from banshes.And more than 3 mortar teams are so bad at pathing
