Warcraft 3 Story ► Tyrande and Maiev meet Kael'Thas - Night Elf Campaign 

The idea was okay - he was basically Arthas 2.0, a prince pushed into becoming a monster by desperation and the desire to save his people. The problem was they didn’t show us any of his journey into darkness. They just said “Oh look, Kael’Thas is back (and he’s evil now btw)”

@@ashe274 Yeah but it was already done. With Arthas. And since then every prince of every kingdom has gone evil except Anduin. Which he just did in Shadowlands. Nobody and I repeat nobody liked Kaelthas turning evil.

@@HooDooBrown ehhh, there was serious potential. If Blizzard had invested in Kael’s fall, shown us him growing steadily more desperate to save his people from addiction and then had him appear in TBC it would have been a fine (if familiar) story. I actually think it would have been better to have him survive Tempest Keep and return in Cataclysm as Aethas Sunreaver, as some had speculated he was at the time. That way we could taken Kael down a path Arthas never could have gone down - redemption. Did they butcher Kael’Thas? At the end of the day: yes. 100%. But I reiterate, the problem wasn’t having him turn into a villain, the problem was their execution of his character change was abrupt and short sighted. Having him travel down a path of evil and then avert course and work towards redeeming himself would have been amazing...just maybe not by the same writers who decided to whack him with the villain bat in the first place.

@@ashe274 Serious potential is all people can really say when it comes to Blizzard but falls short, you don't take a character heading one direction to side line them another. If you do this too often which even at the time they were doing this from the Warcraft 2 to Warcraft 3. As I said, we have seen evil princes too much. And having someone like Kael'Thas go through worse than Arthas while still having some composure would of been a good alternative of showing how someone with a silver spoon up their ass has more reason to become self absorbed while the prince who lives longer by proxy has to live with the pain of his races death at the hands of the scourge and knowing how long he has the potential to live and fight the addiction. To me it seems like you didn't care about any other aspects outside of wanting an Arthas 2.0 as long as it was OK story wise. I just couldn't see the character becoming a clone of another when Kaelthas was unique to himself and they should of went with a rollercoaster of a ride with the end finally achieving something for himself and his people. Plus another Warcraft race means possible money down the line.

@@HooDooBrown I mean it’s not like KT wasn’t going down a questionable path in TFT anyways. Allying with Illidan alone throws stigma on Kael from many points of view. I don’t think it’s fair to say a villain turn was completely out of line, but neither would I say it was definitely expected. Illidan did bad things for a good reason, and those who fought with him also had good reasons for going along with those bad things. It’s really unfair to say Kael was never going to be villainous - he was already villainous in a certain way just by allying himself with the Illidari and helping them bring Outland to heel. Who are the evil princes? Like, literally who? It’s only Arthas and Kael’Thas until Shadowlands, lol. Unless you mean like...the Blood Princes from Wrath? What’s so wrong with having a few royal sons turn out rotten anyways? Characters can share plot arcs and be good in their own right, even within the same universe. Do you decry every good natured and strong King for being clones of each other? We’ve had way more of them than evil princes: Varian, Terenas, Anasterion, Genn (eventually), I don’t want Arthas 2.0 per se, I’m just saying it wasn’t a bad direction to take Kael’Thas in. As mentioned, we saw him making some questionable ties to Illidan, it’s not outrageous that he turn evil, it was just sudden and quickly glossed over. Most people would be fine with KT going evil if Blizzard took their time to show it happen instead of snapping their fingers and making him a raid boss out of nowhere. And it’s like I said, there were ways to evolve Kael’Thas past Arthas 2.0 - like having him return under a different name seeking atonement. Or as they’re doing now in Revendreth, exploring possible ways of accepting his wrongdoing.

Vanilla was fine since in introduced new stories and performed world building, but once they tried to continue the _main_ story in TBC is got screwed up.

Noone tells Tyrande what to do. I loved her head strong follow her heart attitude in WC3, shame she lost her personality over the years in WoW.

You completely wrong his grandfather of kaelthas saved tyrande in the past in the first invasion legión she was in prison for azshara and dath'remar saved her so tyrande remembered that and help back to kaelthas and the ancestors of kael helped to stop the first invasion of the legion

At least sylvannass(before undeath) is smart enough to cast not starfall while on a bridge

part of me thinks that she didnt use starfall. She just did the starfall gesture to symbolize she activated a bomb on the bridge besides. Tyrande had to stay more than 5 second using starfall before the bridge collapsed. Sylvanas just does the starfall gesture for like 0.5 seconds and there was BAM no bridge.

She could've just stepped back from the bridge before casting Starfall... so only the undead would fall into the water.

Maybe, if there is a lore behind it, the bridge wasnt really wrecked becquse of the power, maybe a meatwagon catapult or two opted to destroy the foundations of the bridge and then whala.... Just imagine what it would look like in a cinematic movie

it's funny because jaina had taken elves with her so she would not have a problem with them. but to be fair, they needed to find a source of magic or they would die. and daelin wouldn't have cared about elves if after all they were allies vs the orcs. in fact, there were elves in theramore.

1.Night elves and I mean every night in Warcraft 3 resents the blood elves because high elves caused the first invasion of the legions on Azeroth but still wanted to use magic.Thos addiction can almost be said to be since the first well imploded so no no might elf would ever help blood elves.at the end even Maiev says no directly but Tyrande doesn't do it out of the kindness of her heart but r because he was a fellow elf or mortal who didn't try to kill them but actually was friendly but solely to get on Jainas good side so she could get the night elves into the alliance and have help to hunt illadin.even here she only mentions the alliance aid but not the horde one.at this point she wanted to be with the alliance already cause two other races that night elves though below them is tauren and trolls were a part of horde.she was however slightly sympathetic to them though and told kael that line.but the others weren't and the night elves held a terrifying anger against them.Just pointing out a few levels later Maeiv even says that the blood elves are a disgrace to the night elven ways and as such mist be slaughtered.and no this is not linked to those who serve the betrayer line at all. 2.Jaina probably would've helped a bit.I mean it's not like dalaran knew what was happening during the execution.oh with they did.most of the novel doesn't even try to mention how dalaran ignored Garithos as he ordered the execution of the elves and fairly why travel all the way to Theremore there were other races and even Storm wind was awesome .truth is they all didn't care. 3.you say it yourself Jain was a love interest to Kael and that conversation would be really ackward plus he probably didn't know about their fate.The night elves didn't exactly find the topic in the middle of you know the whole undead r trying to slaughter us thing.

And then in Burning Crusade joined with Kil'Jaeden against his own people, and finally died as wretched madman in Fury of Sunwell patch

@Jiminy Cricket yeah. Anyone can have their own opinion about anything . Thats ok. Idk if ur an old WC franchise fan or new ; my point is the first and real Voice acters who shaped characters in minds are gone. There's no way for some one like me who played WC3 all these years to not compare the voices . Btw , liam's voice is so nice but he's way too weak and fragile for Illidan's character. U can say how hard he's trying to fake Matthew yang king's voice from the begging cuz its not him who voiced illidan in the first place... same goes to many other characters like Sylvanas... no matter how hard they try to fake the real voice , they'll never get there

A lot of the characters were done dirty in WoW since raid bosses are needed. A 2-faction MMO wasn't a great medium to continue the story in, it would have been ideal if they had some new Warcraft game (RTS or otherwise) to tell the main character's stories. WoW was fine with world building and telling new and smaller stories. The Defias, Scarlet Crusade, Black Dragons, and so on were all great stories. It's once they tried to continue Illidan's, Kael's, etc. it turned meh. Even the characters introduced in WoW and looked like they were going somewhere (Garrosh) ended up being done dirty at the end because of the nature of WoW. I'm not a RTS purist. I loved and enjoyed WoW, but it was best suited to telling the kind of stories they told in vanilla, not continuing the campaign stories from the RTS.

Not compleatly, she grew as a character, but she still kept her core personality. Follows her heart and acts on impulse. She sees a problem and acts imediatly to do what she considers the right thing, her view on whats right has evolved, but her personality didn't change.

Because she said in the battle of mounty hyljal to the foreign i missjudged may elune shine your path because she realized cenarious was alive but she hated them humans and orcs because they kill cenarius so do you realized is that really your question? Did you play the whole warcraft 3 and read the books?

-There was no way Naisha and the other Watchers would have survived from the temple falling apart on top of them. -Maiev never forgave Tyrande for murdering her Watchers and for releasing Illidan back in Reign of Chaos.

-Maiev Knew it was a trap, And Naisha told her it was and to wait for tyrande and Malfurion, She went in anyways knowing it'd be a trap. Their deaths are entirely her fault. -This doesn't justify her dishonesty to Malfurion, or her betrayal of Tyrande for the sake of vengeance, An Eye For an Eye Only makes the world blind.

the problem is by not helping Illidan, Arthas will not have any reason to gather a portion of his force into the northrend. Arthas might just stay in Lordaeron and defeat all remaining Alliance resistance. Due to Illidan and Kael'thas threatening the Lich King, Arthas had no choice but to sail to northrend, and with it every resistance in Lordaeron pretty much have a breathing room.

To my mind "Shan do" has less uncertainty in terms of pronunciation than "Shaun Doe" :)
