Great overview! One important tip for building the warbands in this box; GW wanted to give players the option to have a male or female Vindictor leading the Vindictor unit, so you can actually squeeze a few more points into the Stormcast warband as 2 of the Vindictors in the Warrior box have optional assemblies as Vindictor-primes!
That's funny, because I just bought the warrior started box for warcry. At my FLGS it is sold for 50USD. The clerk selling it did a double take, surprised that it was so affordable.
Really appreciate all your extra information on this I have seen people recommend this before but it seems like a lot of work as someone who doesn’t understand were cry yet. I was so psyched for the crypt of blood box but completely put off When I saw the price for what you get even though I can afford it, It just seemed like a real rip off and was very off putting.
I'm pretty sure GW just overvalued the sculpts. They really are great abd I enjoyed painting both myself when I grabbed them ages back as underworlds warbands. Honestly if I was new to warcry and cash wasnt an issue I'd pick up the new starter and have fun with it. The contents are great it's just the cost that leaves a bad taste.
Yeah, both are a solid start. In each warband the spearmen make decent line troops and will do fine against one of the warcry boxes. The orruks would probably pick up something scarey like a Tyrant and maybe a brewgit for a buff. The stormcast struggle with being very pricey so getting numbers on the table can be a challenge. Xanthia and some Annilhators dont help with numbers but they are very popular and quite killy. For the majority of games though you don't need to optimise and the warbands in the Warrior box will do fine.
