I saw him at a grocery store in Arcadia, California when I was about twelve years old. I think it was 1984. I recognized him from Disney Family Album, a show I watched on the Disney Channel. I was a big fan of Disneyana at the time. I wanted to know if that was really him I saw in the grocery line so I wrote and asked him. He wrote back something like, “That was probably me. I hate waiting in line while someone pulls out a lot of coupons and then writes a check!” 😊 I requested a signed drawing of Jiminy Cricket but he couldn’t send me one because the Disney company would not allow it. But he invited me to visit him at Grizzly Flats. Looking back, I wish I had taken him up on the offer. I still have the signed letter from him, however.
Do you know if the original uncut footage available? We voluntee at the Southern California railroad museum making Videos. the museum now houses Ward’s Grizzly Flats collection.
I remember seeing Ward Kimball in the I Love Toy Trains Series by TM Books & Videos. I never knew him from the start until I came across this video that had him on the thumbnail.
