A trip to the Toronto Islands as a tourist is highly recommended, especially in the summer months, as there is a lot of recreational value here. From the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, you can take the ferry to three different places on the islands that lie in front of the city in Lake Ontario. We took the ferry to Ward's Islands and were able to linger there in the Island Cafe at the clubhouse. There is a lot to discover within a 5-minute walk, but the view of the Toronto skyline is particularly good.
Unfortunately, the clubhouse and the island cafe were destroyed in a major fire on March 18, 2024. We hear that the owner is planning to rebuild it, so we hope for a quick reopening!
