Yeah, they’re trash! The gear is destroyed, they can’t perceive chaos taint, they are too stupid to think maybe the 1 room is cold for a reason, they kill their commanding officer (and get away with it in addition to 2 others), attack loyalists, hate the nicest legion who actually gives a shit about what they’re supposed to protect, etc. if I’m going to be imperium I’m gonna be about it and if I’m going to be chaos I’m gonna be about it, this Luke warm path ain’t it.

They are aholes but compared to the Inquisition pretty harmless. 😬

Honestly my theory is that there a mix of iron warriors death guard and night lords. Night lords for obvious reasons. The whole terrorism and criminal gang like culture. Iron warriors because their chapter emblem of I remember correctly is the emblem of a iron warriors company. An death guard because there was a loyalist death guard warband that called themselves Marines of the Malevolent.

The Salamanders reported the marines malevolent to the inquisition for their total disregard for human life. In a three book Salamanders run,, not got them at hand but they focus around a librarian. ( a good few year's back)

Forgive me,, not around my book's at present. The Salamanders were concentrating on helping civilians and to the M.M, civilians are something that gets in the way when shooting stuff.

Who set the armor traps the eldari, where did the xenos come from?

Every marine who put on the cursed Demon Armour became renegade instantly due to their corruption. The reason Lorkar killed the other Marine because he was friends with Kern and sensed he had been murdered. The Captain decided instead of executing them(as he should have) to use them to settle a personal vendetta against the Salamanders. The fact he sent only the cursed Marines gives the rest of the chapter plausible deniability. Lorkar killed Kern because he was trying to take his job basically and seeing how bad the mission went that was likely going to happen.
