To place the worship of any individual, as the administrator of their faith, above the faith overall itself. Along with the thane's predictable hubris, obvious decadence and ornamental excess. More aspects that relate this faction to the Dark Ages and Spanish Inquisition. I like these gangs. I think they are symbolic of the salvation of the poor anonymous billions in the underhive given the chance for redemption by the questionable redemptor motives and whether the Thane is a true representation of the will of the emperor or just a crazy delusional mad man is less important. He has created a structure and given hope to many underhive residents who otherwise may have suffered worse fates. Due to their ambition they are considered upstarts and a force for disorder by the older houses and perhaps the shackles placed on them by the ecclesiarchy are an attempt to curb their ascendancy or simply distance themselves from the order in order to appease the apparent absurdity of Crawford claims of divine destiny and fate. I like their hierarchical structure, there are a lot of options and these gangs have limitless potential on the battlefield. Their wargear section is four pages long with three types of gang x fighters, multiple champion types and leaders can be chosen from the redemption or cawdor. They have lots of cheap units and can be fielded in mass groups. For 500 points you could easily have twenty bone pickers with small arms and scrap melee weapons. Conversely I have very well equipped leaders and gangers which are expensive allied to about half that number of bone pickers. They are impressive in appearance and with their flame weapons they are ideal In close quarter situations.
