Would rather use a shotty cos you don't need to take it to a tec-prest to have it molest it with their tentacles like it's a Japanese school girl ever single time to need to clean the thii-... *ahem* ... They're so forgiving and simple that mere poor humble Guardsmen can fully maintain one with ease and there is almost a round for every job that a simple Guardsmen needs.

With the added advantage you can't really miss at close range.

Lasguns are generally issued with maintenance kits and guardsmens can change damaged or used lenses and barrels by themselves. They are also given basic training with litanies of maintenance. Hell, often enough guardsmens don't need tech priests to help fix vehicles, tho not always. Anyway, if your lasgun is so badly damaged that you need a tech priest to have it fixed, it's doubtfull you could fix your autogun by yourself if it was just as damaged.

Out of all the Imperial weapons this would have to be my favorite for the one reason my grandfather told me when I was 10 12 years old it's the only weapon you will ever need it will feed you and defend you 12 gauge shotgun first gun I ever owned you have to love the USA LOL LOL. as always truly enjoyed the lower video on the imperium. In the words of the 40K May the emperor protect and so mayor your shotgun. look forward to the next as always thank you. P. S just to say my grandfather gave me my shotgun and I still own it to this day I've had him for close to 40 years and my shotguns name is George after my grandfather just a personal story sorry good memories though thank you again.

Of all the man made firearms in the galaxy, Shotguns are perhaps the oldest. A case can be made that the very first "Handgonnes" deployed in the nation-state wars of the middle and late 2nd Millenium were in fact primitive Shotguns, and if we accept that as a fact then Shotguns have been in continuous military usage by Mankind for over 37,000 years, thus predating Plasma, Melta, Bolt, Las, Auto and even Stub weaponry by centuries at the least and a dozen Millennia or more in other cases. Their sheer robustness, adaptability and availability has kept a Shotgun in someone's hands throughout that entire span and an ammunition type available to suit almost any situation. It is a rare corner of the galaxy that hasn't seen at least one Shotgun at some point over the past three-dozen Millennia or so. On a personal note, my own armoury would contain at least one of these venerable workhorse deathtubes: having the option to load for pigeon or for bear it good in our own time, but having the option (and occasional need) to load for Hormagaunt in the Age of Imperium makes a Shotgun quite the tempting prospect for the mercenary on a budget or the Guardsman with a keen eye for practical "battlefield salvage". While rarely the exactly ideal weapon in a true battle, if denied an Autopistol for my sidearm I would certainly take a short Assault Shotgun as my second choice. Caught somewhere between a true longarm and a weapon of personal defense, the Shotgun is a fine compromise in most situations and if everything *does* go badly you can at least say you died fighting, and the bastards who killed you will have something to remember you by no matter how long THEY manage to outlive you.

In 40 K maybe the rippergun (ogryn shotgun). Was developing own rogue trader human "empire" wich is on the level little above our (present) military technology and have a special shotgun, wich does use liquid explosive instead of gunpowder, and can therefore administer precise "dose" to adjust strenght. Because of imnense recoil strenght, when used with depleted uranium pellets against the synthetic targets or vehicles on maximum power, the shotgun has to be suspended on the mount of the exoskeleton. The exoskeleton very similar like the one used in "The edge of tomorrow" sci-fi movie, or the Call of duty advanced warfare exoskeleton. Not fully closed, but VERY handy when in atmosphere, and equiped with small jetpack. Also with retractable bionic attachements, wich are ment to ease and quicken the speed of running of the ocupant of the machine and highten his/her leaps. When such shotgun coupled on said exoskeleton with hellgun, granade-launcher, flamer, sniper rifle and some rocketlauncher (when necesarry) on the back, even the mighty astartes are not so safe, to be too comfortable. My empire also fields fighting drones (Tacticaly similar to the tau, but much simplier programing, construction recalling the "hunter killer" unmanned aircraft model from Terminator universe, and using human weapons.). Also, i alowed my empire to develop a kind of walkers being vaquely based on the sentinel design, but with arms, its own plasma-reactor instead of combustion engine for propeling purposes, jetpack, fully enclosed cockpit with life-support... basically the WH 40k counterpart of titan from titanfall, AMP from Scotts Avatar, and the tau battlesuit. The complete lack of armour and tanks on my empires side, is tacticaly balanced by precisious fighter, bomber, gunboat, or even dropship originated precise planetary bombardment, and extensive use of flying drones and exoskeletons with heavy weapons on the surfice of planet. In void combat, this empire prefers stealth, agility, speed and range of weapons against siple "outlasting" the oponents, and pumelling them to their deaths from close range, the imperial navy prefers. Also, a much of ideas very close to "gaerox progerative" tactic school originated from inside the imperium is applied to the fleet, simply because it is suposed to be quite small relatively hard to replace, oriented to steeling ships from the others, if possible, and (especially this point) self-reliant. The cruiser and bigger ships of this fleet basicaly do have inside the automated factories to supply everything needed for the campaign, from shotgun shell or stormbolter round (or even field ration package) to the automated ground barracks on ground, or smaller and extremely fast "defence monitor" ships in the void, everything of this, the bigger ships are capable to suppy, when proper raw materials mined. The reason for that is, that the first rogue trader who rediscovered this mini-empire was owning only extremely modiffied universe - class transport ship, wich had quite similar ability on its own and the inner environment to pleasently sustain the rouge trader and his 300 thousand personal armsmen/crew and never engaged a fight on its own - usually swarming the enemy with quantity of smaller and ultratough voidships, when bombarding the target from afar by its gatling novacanon. The trader was former rival of emperor, who was once a head of technologicaly advanced civilization (that is where he got his hardware) and started his voyage to the unknown during the onset of Horus heresy.

Yes, although serious obsession is also a nice description :D... I am (and was for very long time) a fan of military technology and tactics, but in last decade i admire most the newest break-through designs sugested for the future forces. That includes so-so public informations regarding promising technologies. Some of them can be regarded as "sci-fi" tech too, and with this tech i am building the army and its tactics around its supposed possitives. And of course necessary "Wow" efect for the reader... :D

Yea there is no problem that can not be solved by s Shotgun... UNLESS it is more than a few hundret meters away. Then you also need a Jetpack. And frankly, who does not love Jetpacks?

Some of my favourite weapons, the Militant Defenders of the Albion Sector have by all means phased out Las weapons in favour of the Shotguns & Auto Guns, granted Las weapons such as the canons & Hellguns are still used, the former by the regular troopers while the latter by the Spec Forces, the Super Commandos ARC ODST of the Militarum Tempestus Scions within the sector, along with Plasma Canons, Melta Guns, Heavy Blaster & Disruptors, heavy being the main preference for thes guys & galls, fully equipt with advance Norscan cooler unit, the rifle variations having a smaller cooling unit attached in the stock. Now las rifles & pistols are still in use but not as much as in the rest of the Imperium, still they are often found in the hands of officers, such as sergeants, corporals, majors, captains, marshalls & generals or other officers only, but only if the respective soldier makes request to the bunk & quartermaster or files it in as his or her weapon of choice, even then the Militant Las weapons are very reliable, more so then any other, some such as the Laser Riffle & Carbine houses 160 shots, while the Pistol has 90, they almost never overheat & have 0.0009 % chance of ever blowing up like the Plasma Weapons, the Gatling Laser, portable has 420 shots while stantard ones have 840, while the Laser & Plasma Canon if equipped with plasma core reactor recharger & cooler almost never runs out, this nifty feature has several mini ones housed in the Hellguns, Plasma Cannons, Melta Guns, Heavy Blasters & Disruptors,
