Some questions. It looked like your vortex spell after move was over some units and you let it stay there, but maybe I misunderstood? It say in the rules if a Magical Vortex ever ends such a move over a unit, continue to move it in the same direction until it can be placed on the battlefield, not touching the bases of any models. Also I did not hear of any dispels against spells in play Did you try that? Remains in Play spells do not retain the energy of their casting, and so you do not need to beat the original casting result if attempting to dispel in subsequent turns, but rather the minimum casting value given in the spell's description. So its lot easier dispel them later on if you have the range and dispel character. Also maybe you know but you can choose to end a previous cast spell (which they can do at the start of any sub-phase) that remain in play. This If you rather want to try recast a spell or its worse for your self to risk keep it on the field. Did you just choose to keep the vortex?
Great game :) love seeing skaven (given all the skaven I own now) on the table! It provides me some copium that if they get popular enough they'll be elevated from legacy (which will probably not happen, but a rat can dream...) XD
Great video! I prefer the longer videos though. I like to see your exciting or disappointing rolls (haha) And moving/maneuvering, and also thought process as to strategy! Keep up the great content!
Thanks for the video! I also play Skaven and have noticed some of the magic patterns you saw but with a Warlock Engineer instead of a Plague Priest. The Warp Condenser item really helps those level 2's with magic missile spells. I was very curious if your Warpfire Throwers hit anything. In this edition, they are surprisingly long ranged and have been my MVP unit.
Have hard time to deside how good magic is.. I know Martin like the model so even tho it didn't perform great this game the Warfare Thrower will be back. /A
Great battle and like your presentation! Good to see some old world battles again! The short cut presentation was good but would be nice if you show cased some of the most interesting spell cast and shooting along with the big fights that made big impact for the game. Superb game room! 😊
We wish.. its so hard to record the good bits.. we dont know all the result of the spells and sometime a roll we think isnt going to matter then the dice throw a curveball and a unit get destroyed from a fart. but we all agree we wish to get more impactfull dice rolls on the short format as well.
Well I would suggest here to film all except the moves , just the move endings. Then cut the movie after finish the battle based on short notes after each turn and after thoughts. Seems that should work and keep the movie shorter and impact full. 😀
Our primary plan is a br every second week and a podcasy in between discussing the last br. Reason is it is as much spare time we have.. a full br is around 20-25 hour of work. A short like this is still close to 10 hours.
Thanks for the batrep! The short batrep is a good thing too, even if I prefer the longest ones (I like when you're are cursing your dices lol). I think playing a lvl2 only is like bringing a knife into a gunfight: you have a chance, but its a small one...
We mix content when time is in short supply. The longes BR would be the optimal to have all the time becouse it gets by far the most views.. but they take a so much time to make its not possible. agree.. lvl 4 is a MUST in ToW
Scheduling is always an issue. I hope we will see much more Old World from yall, but I really hope it will be the longer format. For me, this format does not get me into the battle report.
Fair feedback Adam, and we're glad to hear and read it. Our next battle report is going to be a full length one. Ideally we will be putting the full length ones out with a somewhat regular schedule and then splice in the shorter formats whenever the real life and work calls for a shorter one. Cheers 🙂🤘
Your contents are always enjoyable, I do prefer the long format for the combats because it is easier to understand and more fun and engaging. I see that is a lot of work and time from your side doing full reports but maybe you could alternate them with shorter video on rules tutorial showing how to resolve complicated interactions on the field or tactics show off
We usually play at least 6 pieces of terrain on a table, the book actualy want to have the middle more open. we are trying out our "old" 8th table stile with alot of terrain vs ToW with less.. I prefere having more terrain on the table. /André
Heya Patrius, glad to hear that you're picking up the ol' hammer again to do glorious battle once more. We normally meet up and play all around Västerbotten, it's a bit far away from Kalmar but if you're ever heading up to the north and pass by Storuman or Lycksele we're up for a game if the timing is right (it's quite far so be aware 😅). But we also make a habit of travelling to Falun to the annual tournament that they host.
Heya, new to the channel. Nice report! I like short and long - depends what I'm doing/what I fancy watching. Though even long reports need things editing out. My view is that it would be nice to have a little more of the movement (at least the descision making part) as it's a huge part of the game. Far more important than dice rolls! Foot scatters are absolutely worth highlighting. If you want to go for a slightly more slick style, you could try filming actions, & using voiceovers after. That is a *lot* more work though, and if you are "hobby" RU-vidrs, possibly not worth the time. Plus, some people prefer the less polished version. I'll be watching more even if you ignore me! :)
Hi! thanks for your input and welcome to the channel. We have tried a lot of different things.. voice overs and more, and less graphics. sens its also hobby editing some of us like the editing more and put more time in and make more flashy things... Im sure it will come videos in the future with more and less slick style kind of editing. Im more of a efficient , want it to go fast kind of editor.. but Jonas likes to make things look nice. /André
Not a fan of the short format as there is no suspense. Also we didn't get to see the result of most of the vortexes so that felt anti climactic as well. Anyways that is my way of saying I really enjoy the long form battle reports you guys put together! Hope you make many more as I'll be watching.
We will always try having the longer battle reports but some weeks its just not possible becous of editing time.. it takes way much longer. and to be honest, we need to please the algo-god a little, and he wants consistent content.. so we try having something every week.
@@MiscastTable I completely understand. Sorry for being so negative, I just wanted to be honest. Still, I'm always happy to see when you have new content. Looking forward to the next ones!
Great game! Sadly this gsme does highlight one issue I have with this edition and 8th, you have to bring lots of magic. Without the proper defense it dominstes the battlefield.
@@MiscastTable This is unfortunately not an option for skaven as they lack fast enough units (flyers with 360 charge arc). A wiz can easily avoid getting charged by infantry if he wishes.
It is not possible with skaven. You need to take a lvl4 on bell and a priest on furn every time to have a chance for victory. All other options are nerfed to uselessnes. It's sad, but true.
Also, wlc and plaguecat are also basically useless. Leave them at home. The option is dw, fragile yes, but at least it has a potential to do some damage.
Your Rat Ogree unit has 1 too many handles 1 per 2 rar ogres including the master malder are the max. So you can only have 3 including the master moulder.
@@MiscastTable its not written very well so i underdrand the confusion. Its something Skaven players should know as ranking up rat ogres nicely is nearly impossible 😆
This is a very strange game. The skaven player brings bad habits from 8th (units deeper then wide) that plague priest unit was in marching column. And why did he never try to dispell the foots of gork? He should have gotten a dispell roll every turn VS the casting strength of them. Despite all his mis plays I think he could have won. Artillery is not good in the his edition. Drop the catapults for more wizards and get some giant rats in there.
Hi, you are 100% correct. I started building and collecting this pestilens themed skaven clan back in the end of 2023 when we were playing 8th. I have 20 giant rats on the painting table and will absolutely switch out some plague monks for them. And about the marching collumn formation, that was dumb of me 🤔. Thank you for the input. (Even though the catapults might stay, atleast one beacause i like the model) 😊 Best regards, Martin
Forgot to mention the dispells, they move before i get a chance to dispell. So most of the times they were in Måns way so he had to re-cast them. But a few times i absolutely should have dispelled, I live and learn. /Martin
For the channel the longer sems to be better, but we will continue to try optimising a short format from time to time just becouse we wish to have content every week.
