Have to admit, I appreciate the "must roll in tray" rule. Can't stand folks rolling dice all haphazard around terrain and such on the table. Solid game, gents.
I recommend looking up an old black and white movie called Sahara with Humphrey Bogart. A single american tank is left to retreat from a disastrous battle out in the sahara desert. Along they way they pick up some allied stragglers, a south african, a frenchman, a brit, a sudanese, and then an italian and german prisoner. They are running out of water and end up taking refuge in a tiny stone building over the only well within a hundred miles. The well is dry but a company of DAK soldiers dont know that so Bogey decides to make a last stand and hold out long enough against the germans so that when they overwhelm the defenders, their prize is a dried well haha. Great movie if you can stomach older films. Really good foray into the north african campaign.
The problem with the scenario, in my opinion, was the limited visibility. The Germans had no chance to inflict casualties before the Brits were on top of them, or recover from the artillery suppression. On the other hand, it was rather historical.
Thanks for another entertaining game guys, love the diagonal set table and terrain! Great to see the Tiger survived the game. 🖐️Richard! I can’t wait to see what 2023 brings, sounds like you guys have got some great ideas there.
A cracking game! Thanks, Gents! Love the post-game analysis too. For my twopenn'orth, everthing would be easier if the Tiger were dropped: it's such a horrible points sink! Mind you, you did put the 'Tiger Fear' rule to good use (we never use Tiger Fear, as it's so horrendously over-powered). Merry Christmas, Both!
Another great and entertaining report. I'm sure Jas gave you a chance to get some points in the last turn 😆 at least the Tiger lived even if it didn't do much lol
@@bringbattlewargaming8720 Oh, I missed that. I was painting while I was watching and you know how that goes. Hope to see you guys venture down the Weird WWII path some day. Have a profitable and joyous New Year.
The British have the upperhand with prelim bombardment. It's best to leave small teams and vehicles in reserve when they are part of the game play as you found out. And as mentioned below the scenario/layout was in favour of the British too. I won't even go there with the number of dice the Germans had !!!!
Very frustrating for me as i have no tactics. More thinking is involved and because of the random order dice you have to plan as you go. Having said all that I enjoy playing it
