The compressor is the highlight of this chain to me. I have the WA 73 without the EQ and the Lin2A with the UT twin 87 for personal use. It’s a pretty good chain and 2 I bought based on your recommendation and have not steered me wrong at all. The aim for me was color and tone while slightly taming peaks on the input and it does that well. Been looking at WA 1B cause I am a fan of the CL1B so I’m definitely wanting to add it to my rack.
Ho provato questo microfono ( WA 800) e devo dire che sono rimasto sorpreso per quanto suona bene. davvero un gran Microfono ... non credevo di poter sentire questo livello di qualità per un valvolare di quella cifra. Ho scelto alla fine un WA87 ( altrettanto incredibile) perchè ho gia un valvolare , Neumann M147 , che è il microfono piu sottovalutato della storia, che si trova a cifre ridicole per la qualità che ti offre ( oltre al nome) che mi piace molto e mi tengo stretto , ma credo che prima o poi premero' il grilletto sul WA 800
The "MixHead" (vst) from "make believe studio" have a preset that fix the Sony C800 mics. I'm sure it'll fix the problems you hear with the highs. Anyways, thanks for this video.
Say bro, you should hear that WA-1B with the Neve Newton mic pre... and the UT Twin or WA-8000... it will shock you! that Silk can help tame and round off the "S" and "T"
Not on that price range for a U87. In that price range I like the miktek mk300, Se2200, or a used vanguard V4. but if you specifically want a U87 style mic UT twin 87, mic parts S-87 I recommend, but they are more than $400. Never tried the warm audio one
there exists a slight upper mid forward sound to warm gear across the line. It sounds a bit more aggressive then the original piece they are based on. It's not a bad thing though just not as accurate as other clones on the market. I think You can totally make great recordings with their gear and there is a vibe to it that makes it distinct. The CL1B is fantastic for the price point, I don't see why I wouldn't want one in the studio. I will say this, Warm compressor clones tend to become less authentic when pushed, does the CL1B do the same?

Wondering what you like for a mic Pre ? or if you could suggest one , I have used the warm 73, its cool , dos add extra tone to the vocal , I am curious of other pre amps for tracking funky pop / fun hip hop party tracks ? thanks.. always great videos !
