Warm Audio WA-47 vs MXL 990 Mic Shoot-out

I'm back with another Microphone Shoot-out. It is a head to head match-up between the Warm Audio WA-47 and the MXL 990.
Which mic do you have? Which one did you like better? Do you agree with my assesment?
Mic A is the Warm Audio WA-47
Mic B is the MXL 990

Mic A sounded like it had more presence (high frequencies) and articulation through good headphones. But, I don't think it's enough of a difference for most people to notice unless they're heard side by side as you have done on this video.

Thanks for watching! I agree they are close, I still perfer the WA-47 but like you said, most people won't notice.

Only problem with the 990 was the self noise. mine doesn't sound that noisy tho so idk if there's something wrong with the chain or mine is a golden sample. The WA-47 sounded better in all aspects but I figure it suprises no one!

Yep, it was no surprise to me as well. The self noise can be quite an issue on low output sources, once you are recording amps or drums though that goes away quickly. You have to be careful of stacking up that same noise though if it is your only mic. Thanks for watching!
