WARM-UPS TO SURVIVE
Over the years, I have learned the importance of warming up. Taking time to warm up is essential to having longevity as a drummer playing at the highest levels of musical expression.
The rudiments I use work really well for me. They address the physical issues I have and make it possible for me to execute the drums properly. There are many rudiments that you can use to help you warm up and develop better chops. I encourage you to figure out which rudiments work well for you and do them before you perform. If you are not currently warming up, you will notice a significant difference when you start to play. I use warm-ups as an endurance exercise as well as I have found I need to be able to sustain my chops and not become stiff and tired during the show.
