Yes, that is indeed the top from Inception :) 100% agree with the critique about the courts, that's why there's no way this deck will ever be a part of my collection, and that's ignoring the pathetic selling tactics t11 employed to "rarify" this product. Doesn't feel like WB at all with how restrained their choices were. In fact, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever to make such a deck if you're only going to nostalgize the courts and not the number cards, because there's too much classic stuff to include. Using 2 courts on Scooby-Doo is insane, as is pushing Batman, a deck t11 has already produced. I might have given more credit if the Batman art were modelled more around the animated series and if Harley's art were to match, but neither of those things were done. Where's 2001: A Space Odyssey, or Pan's Labyrinth, or The Matrix, or Magnolia, or The Fugitive, or Rush Hour, or Full Metal Jacket, or Goodfellas, or Nightmare on Elm Street, or Blade Runner, or The Shining, or Enter the Dragon, or Blazing Saddles, or The Exorcist, or The Maltese Falcon, or Casablanca, or The Lego Movie, or A Clockwork Orange, or The Treasure of Sierra Madre, or etc. etc. etc. I could go on for a LONG time. There is SO MUCH missing here. I get it, licensing fees and whatnot, but don't call it a WB deck if you're going to show us like 2% of the memorable properties.

I feel I must contend your point. With over 100 years to draw on for a 52-card deck not EVERY property could be represented which is why they stuck to the more recognizable ones like Goonies, Harry Potter, DC, Wizard Of Oz, Willy Wonka, Inception, LOTR, Elf, Scooby-Doo, and Looney Tunes but I will agree some properties were more represented than others got more than 1 with DC getting 4 when honestly, a Batman/Superman court card would be better and Wonka with two cards. I could easily free up space for 4 cards by skimming back the DC to one and one Wonka card to give four more IPs a card each like Nightmare On Elm Street, The Matrix, Goodfellas, and A Clockwork Orange.

@@muigokublack6487 I think you completely missed the point. Of course the limitations of a deck of playing cards prevents them from including everything, that goes without saying. My point was that this deck either shouldn't exist or should be called something else if there are this many properties missing. It's not the fault of the format that there are only 54 depictions available. Additionally, both our determinations of what is "recognizable" is very subjective.

@@canadsian2747 What you just said is just restating my point with different wording. If you were tasked with making a 54-card deck based a film library with over 100 years of content. How would you go about it working within the restriction given?
@canadsian2747

@@muigokublack6487 Naw man. What I'm saying is either you DON'T make that deck at all, or at least make it painfully obvious that it doesn't come close to representing WB's 100 years of content.

With so much material to draw from, it is a missed opportunity to add characters to the number cards. As you and others have said, it's an unusual selection that they have gone with for the court cards. I agree that it would have also been better with a red tuck and back design. Seeing the 2 ad cards that were in red makes me think they will offer that version in the future.

Definitely a deck fits for those who loves Warner Bros lovers - especially if you like Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, or DC Superheroes. This is the icing for the cake for those who collects WB stuffs, to celebrate the 100 years. Shame Fred got "chopped liver" (at least he could be referenced onto Daphne since he liked her XD), but it would be a GRAVE mistake (that might resulted in a witch hunt) if they left out both Shaggy and Scooby. Haven't watched the Goonies to be able to recognize JoS, until after watching this hahaha (don't judge me - I will watch it if can); so as the Ace of Diamonds that features the Maple Syrup referenced to Elf (will watch that too). And correct, the AoC is that top from "Inception", one of Nolan's best work! - the top is something the Dreamers used as a sign whether they are still in a dream or not. Great review as always~ You will always be my guide if I lack the knowledge on some characters in a deck ;)

I definitely agree with your commentary. I would have loved to have it be more nostalgia and a more cohesive choice of characters. That being said I love this deck and the art style, especially. I personally love the minimal tuck front despite being a departure from the ornate T11 style. Great review!

I liked the art style quite a bit on the cards as well! But yeah - the character selection sorta killed the magic.

@@TheCardGuyReviews I wonder, who will be your picks if you were appointed to select the characters for this deck? (maybe it's possible the Red colorway was kept secret until it was time to release hahaha)

Very few of the cards are really WB properties but acquistions. Tom & Jerry and WIZARD OF OZ are MGM, Willy Wonka was a David Wolper production released by Paramount; his library was later sold to WB along the intellectual property. DC was bought by WB. LORD OF THE RINGS was a New Line film and they too were bought by WB. Scooby Doo is Hanna Barbera and played CBS and then ABC. In 2001 Warner bought them. Obviously they were looking at pop icons they own and not celebrating Warner Brothers from JAA SINGER to Bogart, Cagney, EG , Robinson, Bette Davis , Errol Flynn, John Wayne, The Exorcist and many others. I am not too sophisticated about card rules but why no eyes?

Also they also own RKO so why not include KING KONG and CITIZEN KANE’s Rosebud?

Honestly, I miss the original decks from Theory 11. It’s now just IP hype which doesn’t interest me in the least.
