Back in the day we called a carrier the “vehicle.” My grandfather mixed a big barrel of linseed oil, lead and some powdered pigment. With a little turpentine for spread and workability and there you have your recipe for industrial age coatings. Back the carriers were pigeons…😃

Experts - for radon mitigation install , contractor made a hole in concrete wall and filled the gap around the pipe both inside and outside of concrete wall with Alex Plus Latex Caulk Plus Silicone . Is this good or should I get sealing around pipe with a better product?

Thanks for the comment! I don't have any experience with that product in that kind of situation. We would recommend some kind of hydraulic cement based product for that kind of repair. Aye man, I’ve been trying to figure out what to use on my home. Been watching a lot of your content. My brother recently moved in and his dog is old (peeing on my floor while we’re at work). I’m about ready to rip all my carpet out and I want to clean everything really well then seal it. I do floor installation for a living so I’m familiar with the application process, I’ve just never done it myself. I’m wanting a more satin finish, preferably something I don’t have to mix and that won’t yellow over time. Can you suggest something at least similar to this? I’d be greatly appreciative!

Thanks for the comment! Sounds like a good plan for solving the problem. The longest-lasting option would be a concrete floor coating, but that would require diamond grinding the surface of the existing floor, and most floor coating would need to be mixed (A&B). An acrylic concrete sealer would be the next option to consider. Acrylic sealers can be applied to the concrete without any grinding as long as there's no other sealer, paint, glue, or any other membrane already on the surface. Acrylic sealers are single component with no A or B to mix together. As with any concrete sealer, there is always the chance that it would need to be re-applied at some point down the road, although interior applications generally last quite a few years. I would recommend our Super Stamp Seal for this particular project, but D-One sealer would also be a good choice. I'll leave a link to some other videos about concrete coatings & acrylic sealers. What high gloss sealer would you recommend for small decorative concrete products like concrete trays

Thanks for the comment! Some of this would depend on the finish of the concrete and how open the pores are. A high gloss concrete sealer like Super Stamp Seal or Diamond Shine would work on pretty much any concrete finish, but the shine will ware down over time. Rock Hard Urethane would be the longest lasting option, it would need some open pores to get the proper bond though. The best thing to do in this situation is try a few different things and decide witch one like the best. Sealers are inexpensive & easy to use, but they won't last forever. Urethanes & other two part coatings last longer, but they are more expensive & harder to use. I'll leave links to all three of those products at the bottom. The walkways to the flats my friend lives in have just been sealed, they now have a good uniform colour but the walkways are open to the elements so rain is pooling instead of running off making it very slippy. The walkways now feel dangerous. Surely concrete sealant should only be used where water can run off? Frequent relayering can't be very cost effective either.

Thanks for the comment! Sounds like the concrete could use a little more slope on it so the water runs off better, or there might just be some low spots that hold water. Either way, the problem seems to be with the concrete and not the sealer. All exterior concrete should be sealed, and if the slab holds water, it'll definitely get slippery. The only real way to solve this problem is to correct the slope of the sidewalk with an overlay or remove the existing walkway and repour it. @@DecoCreteTV Thanks for your reply.👍🏻 Yes the building is quite old, nearly 100yrs. The pathways are original so i don't think there was any consideration to enough slope.

Will concrete sealers mitigate radon leaking through cracks?

I don't know the exact amount of radon that concrete sealers will mitigate, it would depend on the sealer. Most concrete sealers are fairly thin and won't really fill-up/seal-off the cracks. An epoxy coating would be a lot thicker and might fill-up smaller cracks. The best thing to use would be some sort of joint sealant, I'll leave a link to the one we sell on our website.
