I don't know. I just bought a jet ski. My third trip was in something like that. I just didn't drive like an idiot. You see plenty of people riding around out there just fine in the video.

@@tubeee87 Sea state isn't a huge issue for a jet ski, they can handle some nasty stuff. I've been in some pretty good sized waves on Lake Erie and the ski handled it well. Just have to drive conservatively. That's really the key to safe boating, to just be conservative and not afraid to stay in if you aren't comfortable.

This is why I don't own a bike. I do some pretty stupid stuff on my ski at 70+. Of course I'm fully aware of what could happen, and has a few times. But it's still fun.

Totally agreed needs to be a crew of 2,1to control the boat 2rd to render help.

Just One on the rescue boat is just plain crazy, we would consider that even dangerous in rough conditions, our mid sized rescue rib never have a crew under 3, normally is 4.

@alanbrooks80 these is lack of inexperienced riders. You can tell by how they try to flip the jetski over. Also how they are mounting by the side me at 140 lbs in ocean city got taken by a wave and flipped. And I can flip a jetski in seconds. I have also taken the jestky through Miami Beach inlet. With about 4ft waves. And no issues these were rider mistakes.

@@Len_M. Covid and all the stimulus with the pandemic scares pushed a lot of folks to buy boats and skis that have no buisiness owning them. A week doesn't go by without another video of boats or PWC having problems in this inlet and others as well. And it isn't just the low end buyer either. Some have more money than common sense.

There is no reason at all to be there with a boat smaller than 30“ and even then it is still fucking dangerous and you should totally avoid being there

I don't understand. Why is this allowed. People are floating in the water. Someone needs to get over here. Is there a lifeguard somewhere. Where is David Hasselhoff? Someone throw a hamburger into the water. I can't believe they let people on boats. I can't believe there are not laws. I can't believe I talk so much constantly and wave my hands about and grab my forehead. Why isn't there a helicopter hovering nearby. This happens all the time. I don't understand. Many boats and PWC's are int he same boat problem wise. So many new owners of each this past two years.

There’s not any good reason for it to be difficult to ride a jet ski. It’s pretty easy. Just don’t try haulover inlet if you’ve never rode before lol

Probably because the US marine police units are basically policemen or sheriff deputies on a boat instead of a car. The RNLI crews are highly trained and have the right equipment for rescues like this.

@@BoatZone Thank goodness, the idea someone could be that stupid and be on a jet ski was disturbing. Malfunctions are another matter.

@wyomarine I singled crewed my 30ft cabin cruiser a lot through Holland and Belgium. The lines were prepared each side for coming alongside at the many locks. The fenders were left out both side and arranged so they worked with spring lines. I preferred to come along side the walls as it's easier than trying to find cleats on other boats to raft on. Life vests worn or to hand, not in lockers. Radio on dual channels. Bilge pumps tested, everything that if needed in a hurry was easy to get to. New crew briefed on emergency equipment and radio procedure before setting off. The waterways and lakes are commercial and busy places, the weather on the lakes changes quickly, so my motto was Be Prepared.

I got news for you....plenty of boat drivers out there are clueless....I have the steel in my leg as evidence....I agree that jet skiers often present first....mostly due to rentals and price point. How do you suggest ski riders go from the ICW to the ocean exactly? I wear a helmet on mine just for these reasons.....skis hitting people and boats hitting skis....crazy.

The jet skiers already ruin it down here in Florida for everyone . Absolutely stupid people down here. They don’t know how to drive cars, don’t expect them idiots to know how to drive anything on the water .

Well these jet skiers look very much like first timers, or renters with little or no experience, for those kind of conditions you must build up a skill set in calmer waters, then work your way up to rougher water over time, for I wouldn't consider those conditions all that bad, but I definitely wouldn't start my jet skiing experience in those conditions, same goes for the boats!

@@TheBDD1970 Sorry for the late response. I do not believe I said to keep PWC from the waterway. Instead of saying that they are constantly in and out of the entrance I should have said they should not be allowed the use the entrance as their playground. It's a navigable waterway that is hazardous enough to navigate let alone dodging PWC jumping waves. I agree that there are plenty of brain dead boaters too that have no business being on the water let alone a hazardous crowded waterway. You can do more damage in a yacht than a PWC. The problem is PWC get a bad reputation from a few bad apples that will wreck the fun for the responsible PWC owners. There are lakes in my area that no longer allow PWC and other lakes where they are restricted. There are some inlets in the saltwater areas where they are not allowed at all due to people not respectful of other people's property and space. I have nothing against PWC and own 2 myself. I do not ride but my wife, kids and grandkids do. If I fell off of one I would be screwed as I would not be able to get back on it. They all wear wet suits, hi impact life vests and white water rafting helmets. They only have to go a 1/4 mile and then it's open waterway for 5 miles as the main waterway for boats is on the other side of the island. I will take the boat out and create waves for them to jump. I guess the moral to the situation is I do not want a few bad apples to ruin the fun for the majority.
