I have to give all the respect the first responders deserve. People don't think that some or all have some sort of PTSD from all of these scenes they have to respond too. My hat's off to them all

PTSD is very common in first responders , I know I've been there before , fortunately for me mine was short lived and just ended up being a case of depression . I also know it creates alcoholism , people drink to help them forget , sometimes they too become drunk driving casualties , its really a sad truth .

It's both riders and drivers. I'm a rider and I ride hard every single day of the year. But I know to watch idiots in cars who try to beat a light to turn left which is exactly what happened here from the position of the car. If I see someone at an intersection I'm already in evasion mode before they even come out. I think they were both trying to beat the red light. Both had yellow and on impact the light turned red for left turn and cross traffic. The witness only saw green on the car's side and assumed the car was trying to go straight. The position of the car shows he was trying to beat the left turn light, not go straight.

So I say it's still good to watch the videos and if you can handle that then move on to the real thing smells and all and maybe getting splashed on... Enjoy! EMT class for respiratory therapy? Seeing if you can be a medic? You do not actually know if you can handle it until you face it. Watching videos is nothing compared to the smell of blood full of alcohol mixed with gasoline on a hot summer night or confirming death from a gunshot suicide while the spouse is sobbing. If you can get past at least one of those types of calls, you can handle it. Where does respiratory therapy come in again? 😂

A few thoughts on this as a former paramedic (around 11 years) - 1. Not hearing a lot of conversation from the fire department and AMR (the EMS personnel on scene). 2. Why is the car still powered? Massive impact, gas everywhere from the motorcycle. Pop the hood, disconnect the battery. 3. The back seat was accessible. Get in there and start treatment. Assess airway. Keep the patient calm. Get a line going. I did all of the above while a car's roof was being removed. 4. It appeared that the driver of the car was unresponsive. Pick up the pace. Again, back seat was open. Turn that thing into a convertible (or at least cut the B and C columns) quickly. And for any motorcycle riders - they call them "donor cycles" for a reason. You are not invincible. Enjoy the wind rushing by but please do not drive recklessly. Because someone has to go through picking up your head later on and, while you are dead, that shit sticks with first responders forever.

If you are at the intersection waiting for the red light to turn green, it pays to take a quick look right and left before proceeding on the green light. That doesn't mean sit there like a putz for 5 seconds looking around before moving, because then you'll just piss off the drivers behind you. But a quick R-L glance can pay dividends. You can pay attention to the cross traffic as the light is about to turn green for you, to see if anybody is approaching too fast. I've got to believe that if I were sitting at the red light about to change to green and some biker in the cross traffic was gunning it with no intention of stopping, I would have noticed that, IF I was paying attention. One time during afternoon traffic I had some guy in a car just cruise right thru the intersection crossways in front of me just as I got the green light. He wasn't gunning it to run the red, it looked like he was just inattentive and didn't notice he had a red light. The thing was, I saw him coming because I was watching the cross traffic the whole time I was sitting at the intersection. So when I saw the car approach too fast to stop, I just stayed put and let him go by. If I had been fixated on jumping out into the intersection on my green light, I would have got creamed.

@@Narpets2112 Bullshit. First off I can most likely see a thousand feet or more if I'm making an effort to look and I have good enough eyesight to get a license. By your logic it would be impossible to turn onto or cross a busy road from a 2-way stop, but drivers do it all day long. Obviously we have to look at the cross traffic and judge it for a few seconds before making the decision to proceed. There are several seconds of time to judge the cross traffic at a traffic signal, especially since there is delay built into the traffic signal change timing for safety. And if I'm out there late at night and a speeding motorcycle is crossing my bow, I'm likely to hear something and see something, IF I PAY ATTENTION. Drivers get complacent in expecting the intersection to be clear at the light change, and I'm suggesting for our own safety we try to be more vigilant. Truth being told, you sound like you’ve had allot of hand outs in life and never worked for nothing. Motorcycle vs door is a very difficult collision case to engineer for, and can do surprising damage for "just a motorcycle." A car will spread the load to the structural frame pillars, but a motorcycle and rider can put almost all their kinetic energy against the center of the door, making it dimple and shrink inward till it is smaller than the door opening and punches right through. I've seen some terrible motorcycle crash pictures where the entire bike and most of the rider ended up inside, and all occupants were killed.
@gravityhammer25
@gravityhammer25 2 года назад
Yup, I remember a really bad motorcycle vs car accident a while back. The motorcycle was essentially a missile crashing into a car. The driver of the car had critical critical injuries (chest was basically blown open from the impact), the door did not do anything to stop the bike. They driver eventually died of their injuries weeks later. The motorcycle rider died instantly. The motorcycle was trying to run from Police, I estimate the motorcycles speed was probably about 120mph or so. If you want to see a video of the crash search "Biker dies in crash chase by Jackson NJ cops "

@@annaallard13 Around where I live, it seems most fatal motorcycle accidents occur due to excessive motorcycle speed, and many of them are motorcycles running off the road and hitting something. I won't argue that cars don't play a part in many mc accidents but I rarely see a motorcycle that isn't speeding. Since riders are more vulnerable you'd think they might ride more cautiously but the opposite seems to be true. The person most responsible for a rider's safety is the rider themselves. As the description said, in this case the motorcycle rider tried to run a red light and he not only killed himself but also an innocent driver. Motorcycle riders need to check twice for their safety as well. Have a nice day

I was an EMT on ambulance and ER the a Ortho Surg assist in the ER and civilian hospitals. After twenty years of carnage I am STILL being treated for PTSD. therapy can erase the twenty years of carnage I either responded to, treated in the ER or help put victims like this! Therapy can’t erase three decapitations, two bodies cut in half, countless amputated legs. It can’t take away two children ripped apart by damn pit bulls. I still see a patient taking their last breath after suffering a heart attack or OD on drugs or alcohol! It can’t soften the sight of a healthy unborn baby being murdered by its mother as a form of birth control. I does not muffle the scream of a mother loosing her baby after watching helplessly being partially eaten by a before mentioned pit bull attack or mournful patents after knocking on their door at 03:00 to tell them their son was killed riding his motorcycle or daughter was killed by a drunk. The sad thing is … a lot of the carnage was totally avoidable. Don’t drink and drive, mess with drugs,or pop wheelies at 80 mph without a helmet. Don’t trust the animal that is responsible for 80% of death by dog or the number one dog most likely to turn on its owner, the pit bull! I hate those dogs and murderbikes or donorcycles . After years, though, plus maturing and having your own family, all the incidents pile up on you. I am lucky to have a supportive family. I met my wife on the job, so she gets it. His body was split cleanly in half. Impact was with a huge light pole. Pics ended up on social media leaving family and friends very mad. Of course, no one in that group of motorcyclists stuck around the accident, as reported by a witness. I'm not sure they learned a lesson. When I was in the hospital for surgery, one night I heard a lot of traffic noise like racing. The nurse said it was a group of mcs. My condolences to the family of the deceased and heart felt wishes for a speedy recovery to the car driver, those injuries mentally as well as physical. 🇬🇧❤️

It might not necessarily be a sharp object. Two examples: How does a whip make noise (the crack at the end)? It's when the handle is swing and suddenly redirected...the the sudden change in direction travels up the leather and "snaps" at the end - making the cracking noise. Secondly, if a car hits a street light pole, look up and see if the "whip" effect has popped the lamp off the top of the pole - sending it crashing to the ground. There are innumerable ways that can happen...none of which have a positive outcome. The other commenters may be correct (i.e. sharp object). All I'm saying is do not discount anything. The worst mistake an accident investigator can make (or any investigator for that matter) is to look at the scene, make an assessment and then look for facts to support the assessment. Actually the opposite is true, determine what all the relevant facts are and then make your assessment.

Where are you all going in such a hurry? Why was the motorcycle going so fast? Motorcycles wind in and out of traffic as it is. Safety be dammed. When cars cut in front of bikes it is bad. But when Cyclists do bad things, it ends badly. Cyclists do not go from twenty-five to eighty in no time? It still takes seconds to get there so what was the cyclist thinking?

I saw a motorcyclist get killed/decapitated on an exit ramp on I95 in Philly when I was in high school. Me and my boyfriend saw him go the wrong way down an exit ramp and he hit a car head on. The bike went about 50 ft in the air, as did his helmet...we stopped and my boyfriend went over and came back with a look on his face I will never forget. Apparently the guys head was still in the helmet when it came off. This was before cell phones. Other ppl stopped and it just so happen a cop off duty was behind us in a car with police CB. Was a young guy. Was one of the worst nights of my life. I try to avoid that ramp if at all possible cos I start to feel nauseous and still see the look on Jim's face when he came back to the car. My dad was a cop then so he came to get us, neither one of us were in any shape to drive. I HATE motorcycles to this day.

Why was he at a party at Penn State??? Mr. Smarty-pants, FAILED his Freshman classes and wound uphhaving to repeat his first year then just flunking out completely. Karma is a bitch though, huh? We did talk about that night again. I guess we will always have a bond because of that night. Just 2 kids driving along not knowing that our lives were gonna be changed forever from that.
