this man or any other man has no authority to declare Hajj as invalid! in an overcast sky moon cannot be observed so the month starts the next day even if the sky is overcast. Secondly moon may be sighted in different parts of the world in different dates because of the path on which it rotates around the earth. For example it causes confusion in Pakistan because its northern most tip near Wahkhan is in the path of moon when the rest of the country is not! Now days the exact time, direction and angle of appearance of the moon can be mathematically calculated with high certainty and accuracy. Even then the Saudi government arranges for several committees to sit across the kingdom to observe with high powered telescopes the moon and witness it as per Sunnah. There is no controversy in this and no reason for Saudi government to purposefully ignore the sighting of the moon. One can lookup the sitting of the moon sighting committees online for satisfaction!

I was just curious and thought about how using telescopes changes how the moon is sighted because in astronomy and under the telescope all celestial bodies are always sighted. The first thing that came to my mind was not to be the retrogressive who argues that loud speakers are a bad innovation because it was not used in the time of the Prophet (SAW). Then I thought maybe it is because telescopes are a more recent technology that is why it was never used for moon sightings hence it made sense to use it to aid search for the new moon since we now have the technology. Most scientific journals would tell you the telescope was invented majorly by Galileo in 1609, but I was surprised to find an article online that proved that Abul Hasan ibn Ishaq an Islamic Scientist invented the telescope in the 9th century. So it means telescopes were in Arabia less than 300 years after the departure of the Prophet (SAW) and it was never used for moon sighting. It is strange why it was never used, but I am not 100% sure it was never used and came to that conclusion because I was not able to find any article on Islamic astronomy been depended on for searching for the new moon and can only find articles of their numerous discoveries regarding the celestial bodies. I am not sure of where the moon was sighted. But if you study astronomy, one realizes that if the hilal is visible at a place on a day, all places to the west of that place must also see it. Why? Because the more you travel west ward, the more the moon travels higher in the horizon. Therefore, if the moon was sighted in Britain on Saturday, there is no doubt that the moon will be sighted in places west of it. But there is no such guarantee of sighting to the east of that place. Why? Because the moon may not have risen there yet. Since Saudi is east of Britain, it is possible they didn't see it

Slm. While not being a fan of Saudi regime, i am flabbergasted with what the honorable Sheikh is saying. In Fiqh we have a golden rule that says " the decree of the Ghaakiem removes all disputes". Whether the Ghaakiem wants to use the sighting with the telescope or by calculations as is accepted by scholars around the world, that is his prerogative. We shoukd believe with conviction that Allah swt had granted the Gujjaaj a Gaj Maqbool and Mabroor Ameen. Who are we to say that Gaj is invalid ASTAGHFIRULLAAH ! The honorable Sheikh is welcome to see the fatwah of the Al Azhar Egypt on the Gaj, Arafah amd Eid.

On the contrary, moon could be visible and due to cloudy situation it may not be seen and therefore the next day moon which is of the second of the month in reality, can be taken as the first. So this means that a mistake of a day is not a death sentence to begin with because Allah swt is all forgiving. InshaAllah Allah swt will accept the Hajj of those who performed it.

May Allah SWT reward you with what is best Sheikh Imran. I have since long advocate this idea, but I am no scholar to speak about it. We should wake-up and understand that those scholars who are condoning what are happening in Saudi Arabia, including the existence of kuffar armies on Muslim land, are traitors to Islam.

Let’s break down the verse يَسـَٔلونَكَ عَنِ الأَهِلَّةِ ۖ قُل هِىَ مَوٰقيتُ لِلنّاسِ وَالحَجِّ ۗ Root was of الأَهِلَّةِ is هلل. It has come 5 times in Quran وَما أُهِلَّ بِهِ لِغَيرِ اللَّهِ Base meaning of ‎أُهِلَّ is proclamation, announcement or invoke. Now let’s come to مَوٰقيتُ. Mawaqeet is a plural of Meeqat. ). Word meeqat appears many times in Quran. Musa As went to meet Allah. Basically it means “ gathering place at specific time). Mawaqit is a multiple gathering place at specific time/ or different time. Now try to understand يَسـَٔلونَكَ عَنِ الأَهِلَّةِ ۖ قُل هِىَ مَوٰقيتُ لِلنّاسِ وَالحَجِّ ۗ . Hilal has nothing to do crescent moon. Allah has used another word for moon phase “Manazil”. وَالقَمَرَ قَدَّرنٰهُ مَنازِلَ حَتّىٰ عادَ كَالعُرجونِ القَديمِ﴿٣ The moon we designed to appear in stages/phase until it becomes like an old curved sheath. Wherever in Quran, Allah used number of days in a month. He use fixed 30 days. There are so many example. He call Musa AS for 30 days and extra 10 days. It’s become 40. Fast 2 consecutive months or Feed 60 masakeen. Why don’t we see any example of 29 or 31 days in Quran?

The sky can be observed all year round, month after month, year after year, and not just twice a year. This year, the Muslim world, from Indonesia to the Americas, celebrated Aid el Fitr (korité) on the same day. North America was treated to a total eclipse of the sun which is the moment when the sun catches up with the moon, then overtakes it, making any ambiguity impossible. The lunar year has 354 days, 6 months of 29 days and 6 months of 30 days. Every 2 or 3 years, it counts 355 days, which is the consequence of 2 consecutive months of 30 days. Taking this year's Aid el Fitr festival as a reference, you add 59 days and you obtain the beginning of the month of dhul hijja, to which you add 10 days and you thus have the date of Aid el Kebir (Tabaski ). If we follow the Sauds' calculation, you have 2 consecutive months of 29 days, which is impossible, the moon having a cycle of 29.53 days (29 and a half days). The Sauds corrupt and mislead the ummah, Sheikh Imran Hosein is right

Hajj was Alhamdolilah perfectly valid for all the pilgrims InSha Allah. With the grace of Allah I also performed Hajj this year Alhamdolilah. We prayed to AlMighty Allah. We performed all the rituals Alhamdolilah and Allah sees our hearts. Sheikh is very much wrong in his saying that this year’s Hajj is invalid due to wrong dates. Didn’t the Prophet Alaih e Salam said: if due to bad weather you are not able to sight moon you complete 30 days (even if there was moon after 29 days and we were not able to sight moon due to bad weather). I’m sorry to say but sometimes Sheikh becomes a virulent Indian Subcontinent Afghan Sectarian Firqa Parast Mauvli by giving such misguiding remarks.

@Sheikh Imran dear Sheikh I have a question. Your remarks and your Fatwa is very much misleading and also misguiding in my opinion. There is a Hadees of Rasool Alaih e Salam in which Prophet Alaih e Salam is said to have stated if you are unable to sight moon 🌙 due to bad weather complete 30 days of Fasting. It means human error is always possible. So what about if there was a moon and we were unable to sight it due to bad weather, still our prayers and Ibadaat will be invalid in the eyes of the Most Merciful & Most Forgiving ???? Do not think like a Sectarian Maulvi dear Sheikh, we respect you. What would you say about that.

One thing scholars don't touch upon is Muslims living in the West,as many perform Hajj,while having mortgages for properties ownership,bank loans for businesses etc. Ongoing major sin,valid or invalid,better to still perform or wait until interest based financial debt is cleared.

In my muslim country they changed Friday (Juma'ah) from being the last day on the weekend, to Saturday (Sabt). So i understand how they can change calendar days which can ruin rituals people have been accustomed to far longer than we have been alive
