We have done numerous trips to Miami for the various attractions, but it’s always with a certain amount of regret. We always try to make the best of any situation, but behind the scenes, Miami always gets a groan from us!

Moved to Miami from NYC back in 2020. I was there for about 3 years and just returned back to NYC. In contrast, people in NYC are actually extremely polite. I had gotten used to terrible customer service and rowdy people. It baffles me why anyone would want to live in Miami. Jobs pay extremely bad, employee rights are almost non existent and the price of real estate does not make sense. I have a high paying job and lived well, however I did notice that I was spending the same as I do in NYC. All in all, I have no desire of going back to Miami to live or visit.

Miami has a giant socio economic gap. There is the mega wealthy and then the poor. Hardly any middle class.

We are Florida Residents that currently run two households, primary residence is in Winter Garden and then my husband works/lives part time in Everglades National Park so he pays rent to have employee housing there. We are only doing this to get him essential training he needs to eventually move to our primary residence full time. When he first started working in Everglades, I got excited. I thought living close to Miami would be amazing! I quickly realized just how much I disliked it. For many of the reasons you mentioned and more. Granted, we have enjoyed a few fun experiences as a family around there; but overall it’s not our scene and we avoid it. It’s not family friendly at all. Great share and I applaud your honesty!

People are probably not going to agree with my take but I used to travel to Miami regularly in the early 2000s Unfortunately Orlando is turning into Miami. The traffic is brutal and it’s also becoming increasingly expensive here too. It’s like in Miami you got the haves and have nots. Also I would know because I worked in law enforcement we call it “Ganglando”for a reason. I totally agree with everything about Miami in the video, wow you kept it real but I liked the brutal honesty!

I was thinking the same thing about Orlando. It’s getting so expensive there and so crowded. There are some better dining options in Orlando, though, but service in the tourism towns seems to be worse than anywhere else, and I think it’s because they don’t have to retain customer loyalty. They get a new load of vacationers every week.

Great video and spot on. We just got back from Miami and yes the crowds oh the crowds but the worst was the fast loud cars. Sitting at a sidewalk Cafe costing $125 for breakfast in the 45 min we were sitting there the sports cars racing up and down the streets with high performance muffler systems that were extremely loud and they would hammer down when ever they past a crowd of people to show off. They would do it right in front of police and cops did nothing because there was just so much of it. Ferrari after Ferrari after Lamborghini all Brand New! Looked like the maids were driving BMW and Mercedes. Every nice restaurant had 2 or 3 Rolls-Royce parked up front. Were by no means poor but a rich person from somewhere else could feel like a begger on the streets out there. Not really but the money out there is crazy. I come from NY and frequently go to CA but it can't hold a candle to the flaunting of money out there. I wear a nice Rolex and this guy pulls up in a Bentley at the restaurant wearing diamond encrusted Rolex with like 5 diamond chains and diamond bracelets on both his wrist and diamond rings on just about every finger and I ask whose he and the waiter says oh he's the manager! The Manager!! What the hell does the owner wear. It's just Crazy bragging like there trying to prove who has more money. If I weren't taking a cruise out of Miami I wouldn't ever go back oh and yes my wife is a bikini string girl but she looks like a bikini model so she pulls it off thank god but yes lots of women wearing them that should not be but no one stares or cares.

Exactly! The sports car thing is so irritating. I can’t imagine a restaurant manager making that much money. And $125 for breakfast!?!? Good grief! I never enjoy food at places like that. There are some mom and pop restaurants in Central Florida where the food actually has flavor and the portions are adequate. My experience is usually that the more you spend for food, the hungrier you’ll be later. 😂 With a couple of rare exceptions to that. Yeah, most people wearing small Swimsuits down there look like a busted can of biscuits.

Women wearing string and thong bikinis that should never even tried them on let alone wear them just a cottage cheese explosion and they feel very confident in them walk right past you while your eating a slice of pizza by the pool. That's why we don't eat by the pool anymore.

@@AikenAdventures we were hungry and every other place had long wait lines this place had like 3 people so we walked up looked at the menu and prices and were either here or wait 45 min and still pay like $80 bucks. He'll we were in Mexico and sat down for lunch 2 drinks each top shelf tequila and bill was $110 in Mexico! When I called the waiter over to question all of a sudden his English wasn't so good.

@@AikenAdventures we just got off the Oasis that's why we were in Miami but we leave in 65 days going on the wonder for a 14 day back to back Eastern and western Caribbean cruise. Never did a back to back before.

I have to admit after watching your video It did not make me want to skip going to Miami. I took away from the video has two people from South Carolina that just aren’t hip enough to live in a hip city like Miami. I think your next stop is Myrtle Beach!!!!.

We would probably enjoy Myrtle Beach as a family. Alaina has been, but Anthony never has. It’s a common vacation spot for many of our friends and family in SC, but they all love to hate it and call it “Dirty Myrtle.” Miami has a lot of great qualities. These are just some ”disclaimers” to add some balance for families planning vacations there.

Been in FL for over 3 decades and I can tell you I have NEVER liked south FL. The people similar to what you said come with a plastic cold uppity attitude. It's hilarious because they often don't look like they should. LOL

Sounds like hwy 22X through Calgary-the speed limit is 120 KM/hr but people are doing up to 170. You feel like you need to keep up or it's dangerous. I saw that in Kelowna-women in 2 piece bikinis with great big pumpkin guts-if you don't got it , don't flaunt it.

I am a local as for the traffic, you can beat it if you are familar with the back roads but be careful cause people will honk like crazy if you drive to slow or dont move at the green light. As for the climate, i felt hotter and more humid in Orlando at least in Miami you get the ocean breeze. As for the cost, things are expensive but its expensive everywhere. I believe you can get discounts on groupon for dining and other activities. Your right about the parking i have gotten a few parking tickets but when i went to orlando Disney charged for parking and so did my hotel so i dont think its just a miami thing.

Most Miami residents cant afford to live close enough to those sea breezes. Theres a difference between visiting the beach and living in Miami. Regarding Orlando... maybe its the same in summer but Orlando does have much cooler weather the rest of the year. Personally anywhere south of Chicago is too hot for me but at least Orlando isnt as hot for as long as Miami 😂

Yep! The first time I went with my husband to Miami when we were younger (newly married ) we stopped at a Mc Donald’s to grab breakfast. I just wanted to see the DASH store from the dumb Kardashians show. The guy in the back near the restroom was doing c@ke on the table. We’ve been a few times. A few yrs ago a guy valet parking a Lamborghini , reversed so hard in front of us into the road we almost rear ended him, even tho he didn’t look. Then he flipped us off. Then we got stuck in traffic on 95 , we were so hungry, so went to a Mc D’s off 95 and we were the only white ppl an they wld not wait on us. It’s a beautiful place, but definitely not kid friendly. Been there 3 times. Definitely not a place I care to ever go back to. Ever!

I think for most Americans what you are saying rings true. Europeans, Latin Americans (and also New Yorkers) love Miami. I think your dressing comment is perhaps because you are a bit conservative. I don't care what people wear. It's none of my business. You are also wrong about the food. I mean, yes if you are only eating in tourist areas it is bad and overpriced but Miami has a LOT of great food. Again, I think you should stick to the rest of Florida which has a more familiar mentality for you and leave Miami for Europeans, Latinos and New Yorkers.

I love living down the street from the ocean and swimming in it whenever I want. I love the arts and culture: Perez Museum, Arsht Center, Wynwood, Art Basel, and on and on. I love the restaurants like Leku, Silverlake Bistro, Boia De, Macchialina, Zak the Baker, to name just a few. I love that there are other languages spoken, Spanish, Portuguese, Kreyol by locals and many others you can hear from international tourists. I love downtown and Miami Beach views from rooftops. The beautiful nighttime skylines. The sunrises and sunsets.

I grew up in Miami and identify as a classic Miami hater. I hate the weather, I hate the lizards, I hate the rude people, hate the ugly stucco walls... but food? Look, it sounds like you guys only go to the overpriced touristy spots lol There's so many great restaurant options in Miami but you gotta more inland to find them. Is Miami a great food city in the way New Orleans is? Not at all. But it definitely has good dining options that go beyond what you find on South Beach

I’m sure there is good food scattered throughout the city, but you’re exactly right, the food in the tourism areas is over priced and low quality.
