Roughly a decade ago, someone planted a cassette of "Seventeen Seconds" into some magical soil, and it kept sprouting wonderful new songs. We call this phenomenon 'Warpaint'.
Brilliant Warpaint gitar, bass and drums with that good old Beetles-vibe with that typical pace-change. Almost missing Theresa grinding her guitar as well! Great stuff!
Never again will I play that game with you Got caught up again in a moment, more than I wanted to Once said I should’ve kept things all to myself Now I say it loud as the words rain down I can’t find my way I can’t find my way I thought I was done with you I thought I was strong, I guess I was wrong Once said I should’ve kept things all to myself Now I say it loud as the words rain down I can’t find my way I can’t find my I can’t find my way I don’t like this, You can’t take the fallout I like things when there’s nothing left to follow Once said that I should’ve kept things before they fell, they fell, they fell I don’t like this, You can’t take the fallout I like things when there’s nothing left to follow So now I say it loud as the words rain down Now I say it loud as the words rain down I can’t find my way I can’t find my I can’t find my way I can’t find my way I can’t find my I can’t find my Never again will I play that game with you Thought I was done Got caught up again in a moment I took more than I needed to, Took more than I wanted to I can’t find my way I can’t find my I can’t find my way She said, she said, she said, she said, she said do what you want She said, she said, she said, she said, I’m sorry She said I’m sorry, So sorry!
I drank alone all the time when this first came out and now that I'm coming back to this song it brings back dark memories of alcoholism. Just kinda reminds me of what Ive came through in such a short time.
My favorite song for years now. Glad to see it finally being released. Hopefully the longer version will be pushed out because it's amazing. Interested in what other tracks they have planned.
warpaint for me is like deftones, portishead, radiohead, and sonic youth all wrapped up with bodacious babe vocals.... just so so what i've been looking for
***** The version they've performed live at concerts and on radio last year is a lot longer. I would also assume that there has to be a longer version of this recording since there is still about half of that record left before the lead-out when the video ends. This is probably just a radio edit.
Guys are right. The song is much longer and they were recording the "more than I wanted, I wanted to / more than I needed" part, so they surely got the whole piece.
Dang. You forced me to search for The Cure, found the live 1992 (!) 13:43 min version of The Forest, listened to that & then listened to this song for the third time in a row - with headphones, really loud. Yup I see your point. The drums in this at 1:27…so great.
It's the eternal problem: you and I recognize Warpaint for the exceptional artists that they are. BUT: they are not Instagramming about their rehab week with Kanye, they are not tweeting about their weekend with Pete on Staten Island, they are not texting about their six-way with Aaron and Shailene. They might as well not even exist... /s Fame; fame is there for you to humiliate yourself, to turn yourself into a permanent clown. Warpaint does not go there.
I have this on my Spotify soundtrack for Jessica Jones. So fitting with the show. This song is magnificent, cannot WAIT to see you at Glastonbury 2017!
