You know that you are the BigBallerShotCaller when you can confess that you made a BILLION dollar mistake, like it was no BigDeal.

It wasn't a realized billion dollar loss. It was like saying, I didn't buy Microsoft in 1983. lol

FYI: Most McDonald's outside of the USA are located inside shopping malls and on leased properties. They are also operated as a wholly independent entity that are usually a joint venture with local business consortiums usually with a 50:50 stakeholdings, so the McDonald's international presences are completely in a different arena to that of the US.

mcdonalds sounds like a coke type stock, recession proof, yes you "eat out" but i wouldn't call it a luxury item, a) people need to eat b) people still believe in the myth cooking is more expensive then eating fastfood, mcdonalds sounds like an amazing stock

I agree. But i understand why he may have sold though. I dont think their "economic moat" is actually as strong as other fast food chains, despite them being a lot smaller

It was around 22.7$ back then and it's x13 at the moment from that price + a lot of missed divis.

@@plamenvasilev hasn't there been a couple of stock splits since then or has that been factored in in.... Also my understanding McDonald's has been in an aggressive stock buyback program for the past ten years or so.
@plamenvasilev
@plamenvasilev Год назад
@@donaldfarmer8421 it's factored in, yes, I just wanted to give some perspective over the price rise till now. Stock buybacks are always hard when the rates are historically low, which was the case for the past ten or so years, you are correct.

Major indexes booked their worst yearly performance since 2008 thanks to drivers like the recession, war, hiked interest rate and inflation which so far doesn’t seem to be easing off, so I’m left wondering what 2023 has in store for us investors, I’ve been sitting on over $745K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy or do I wait?

It’s a good time to buy in on the market, so seize the opportunity to purchase stocks on sales.
