Do you know whether this is a soundboard or audience recording?

I saw Warren twice in the 80's. He was awesome and he was very popular with us in the military and we even used Jungle Work as a Jody Call. We could sure use his sardonic wit in today's messed up world. He is sorely missed.

I am only 30 and wasn't exposed to this incredible man's art until I was 17. Although my other tates in music changed with time, I have listened to him steadily the entire time. Warren is that one artist some of us have, who just captures and beautifully articulates things that matter to you in a deeply personal way, yet can't figure it out for yourself. Learning about him had me learning about myself. Thank you Warren.

I saw him so many times in the 80's. Starting the show with Frank & Jesse reminds me of those nights and what a great finish with Not Fade Away

Excellent recording of what certainly starts out as a ripping show. Quite the Poor Poor Pitiful Me! Thanks for sharing.

15:11 "I met a nice, young Houston gal She took away my breath And she followed me to my hotel room And she beat me half to death" Great verse I've never heard before, hahaha.

I love this iteration of Detox Mansion. The album version is also a classic, but it's almost a shame this version was never officially released. (To the best of my knowledge.)

"gonna get some beef chow mein . . .barbecued, werewolves of texas" Warren sure knew how to play to his crowd. 7 minute werewolves medley was pretty intense.

I never heard WZ do cover songs until this. I got a kick out of his lyrics change on Werewolves to include James Taylor, Jeff Bridges and Jackson Browne.

Rare to see a show without "Excitable Boy" (and, perhaps to a lesser extent, "Play It All Night Long"). The songs he seems to have played at every show are "Werewolves Of London," "Lawyers, Guns And Money," "Poor Poor Pitiful Me," and maybe "Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner" and (once it was released) "Splendid Isolation."

What does everyone make of Warren crediting Don Henley with co-writing "Reconsider Me" at 22:50? Henley obviously receives no such credit on the released version.

Well this has made my day. A joy to discover this. But a question, did I hear right, Warren said that he wrote 'Reconsider Me' with Don Henley?

*Question:* At 17:33, Warren asks for applause for Duncan Aldrich. Is he just asking for the audience to recognize Aldrich for his sound engineering? Or does Aldrich play on Veracruz? At 18:43, you can hear Aldrich is still on stage and Warren says "Hall & Oates" as though they are going to play as a duo. But I don't hear a second instrument on Veracruz or on the songs that follow. Can anyone tell whether he plays on any songs? Thanks.

5:42 What does this person say? "Give it up Warren?" I assume it had a different meaning then, because I can't imagine anyone with ears not wanting to hear him play.

hmm... a Rolling Stones cover at the top of the show... and then for the encore, a song that the Rolling Stones used to play so often when they were just starting out that I'm sure there are still a lot of fans who have no idea it's a Buddy Holly song. If this were any other artist I'd wonder about this, but since this is Warren Zevon, there's no point in wondering -- even if he were still alive and I could ask him about it, he'd just flash a smirk and, sarcastically, say something like, "Really? Well, isn't that interesting?", and walk out the door. 🤔🤨😑

He used to cover Before They Make Me Run too (from the same album as Start Me Up) Also, there's a great picture of Keith holding a copy of Genius by Zevon

@@user-ev4ky6oj7j Oh yeah, right! He’s coming out of a store or something, gripping a smoke in his teeth and pointing at the camera with the Genius CD and a jacket or something under his arm. That photo is “Pure Keef”. I did know Warren covered that one, and again, if I thought there was any way to know WZ’s reasons for doing so, that one would make me wonder as well - but we’ll never know for sure because he could be a complete mystery sometimes, even to close friends who’d just chalk it up to “That’s just Warren being Warren”. 😏
