Wow. Just started painting my first box of Burgundian mercenaries from Perry and it's pretty inspirational seeing you paint this amazing heraldry. I may pick characters with simpler livery! Thanks v much for sharing

Fantastic job, love the final assortment of relatives and retinue you chose to base together; that heraldry is perfectly recognizable despite the scale (and despite having been quartered and halved so many times by his generation it wound up looking like a family history quilt)

Really impressive job of the coat of arms, don’t know many people who would have gone to that effort but it looks so good! The whole retinue are looking great, looking forward to seeing your next video in the series. Can honestly say, as a Scot, this is a period of history I know very little about but it has been fascinating following along.

Hi Martin, I’m a huge fan of your videos, especially the painting stuff. You taught me how to base my miniatures. I’m really new to the hobby. I started with Barons war skirmish but got a bit bored after a while. I think the moving individual figures around and the theme of Robin Hood but not Robin Hood is a bit dull (minis are great though) What I’m really in to is ancients, English civil war, and wars of the roses. And battles or something like never mind the billhooks, rather than small skirmish. As you have played all of those, I wonder if you or anyone else could recommend between Epic Hannibal, epic pike and shotte, or Perry 28mm wars of the roses for hail Caesar or billhooks or something else. I’m not brilliant at painting yet, still learning
@7thson726
@7thson726 День назад
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching. I'm really glad you like the content 😁 I personally will always leave to the WOTR because I love the period and you can build a decent 28mm army for about £100 using Perry plastics and metals. You can start playing quickly as well. If gaming is more your choice then the Epic Hannibal or Pike and Shotte may be the way forward, less focus on painting and how the unit looks and rather the feel it gives Hope that helps 👍

Amazing looking paint jobs there. I especially love how much detail you went into with the coats of arms - many just make them semi-right lines and dots to represent vs going into a form of trying to make them detailed and stand out to the correct coat-of-arms. As for suggestions for next week when your putting the base together: I agree with keeping the two sides - the No name bannermen on the right and the named on the left. I’d have him and his man facing one another discussing as it looks much better - his actions more come off as if saying “this way sire” or “are you sure that direction?” and Nevil just pointing “there!” As for his two guardsmen, I’d have both near his back with both flanking his sides, or both together - the other night falling in behind his companion with the banner as if ready to leap between the Kingmaker and banner to protect it/steal the glory/even recover it. And I’d maybe have the dogs stood beside the “help” - why he might be a bit cross. The “help” behind the brother having to babysit the dogs/actually be close to the action where he can be killed.

This was stunning, they're gunna look amazing, on the base I think having them stand on the banks of a stream would awesome, you could put t he lords and such on one side and the peasantry on the other, but perhaps with that many minis it would far too crowded, and I guess Wawicks gotta be the centre piece after all that work!

@@7thson726 Sorry, couldn't find a fault here. One caveat would be that in the lifetime of his father (died 1460) e.g. 1st St Albans he may have born rather simpler arms such as Neville quartering Beauchamp, or even just Neville with a gold label.
