The Polish tango is very strongly rooted in the Polish tradition. Its origins may be found in sitting rooms, theatres and cabarets, but the music immediately became popular on dance floors and with street bands. Many of the pieces remain carriers of the intangible cultural heritage of Poland to this day.
Over 20 Hebrew language versions of the most popular Polish tangos were written in pre-war Poland. This was the concept of the management of the largest Polish record label at the time, Syrena Electro, which in the 1930s had its own record showroom in Tel Aviv and aimed its products also at Polish-Jewish emigrants.
